One Of The All Time Worst Political Liars

 The big news in political lies at the moment comes from a guy named George Santos. Santos has been newly-elected to Congress from New York’s 3rd District, a competitive seat covering parts of Queens and Nassau Counties. Although the districts got re-drawn for this election, most of Santos’s district was previously held by Democrats, Tom Suozzi and Steve Israel, for the last decade. So Santos became part of the mini-wave of Republican pickups that will lead to the takeover of Congress by a thin margin come January 3.

On December 19, several weeks after the election, the New York Times published a story exposing Santos as having lied extensively about his background during the campaign. The headline was “Who Is Rep.-Elect George Santos? His Résumé May Be Largely Fiction.” Among the main issues identified by the Times were that Santos had never worked, as he claimed, at Citibank and Goldman Sachs, and had not graduated, as he claimed, from Baruch College. Also, a pet-welfare charity that he claimed to run, Friends of Pets United, could not be found in IRS records. Also, he is not Jewish as he had claimed. The Times did not challenge Santos’s claim that he is the first openly-gay Republican elected to Congress as a non-incumbent.

Over the past few days, Santos submitted to extensive interviews by, among others, the New York Post and Tulsi Gabbard (guest-hosting the Tucker Carlson show on Fox News), where he was forced to concede his fabrications. He referred to them as “résumé enhancement.”

Plenty of Democrats immediately came forward to demand that Santos resign, or that the Congress decline to seat him. In an article on December 26, the Hill quoted, for example, Democratic Congressman Joaquin Castro of Texas as saying that allowing Santos to take office “would set a dangerous precedent”; and quoted Democratic Congressman Eric Swalwell (!) of California as saying that Santos had “confessed to defrauding the voters of Long Island.” Slate on December 27 described Santos as “disgraced” and called the situation “truly unprecedented.” Peggy Noonan devotes her entire lead op-ed in today’s Wall Street Journal to the Santos matter, calling him “a stone cold liar who effectively committed election fraud.”

Let’s face it — Santos’s fabrications are pretty bad. But are they really “unprecedented,” or even unusual, among the lies told by politicians to advance their careers and gain office, including among current office-holders?

I’ve got a bunch I think are worse. The funny thing about these, though, is that not a single Democrat seems to care about them. All involve current officeholders, who are not subject to any widespread demands that they resign. Let’s consider.

Ilhan Omar. Ms. Omar is the current Congressperson representing Minnesota’s 5th District (Minneapolis). Rumors that Omar had married her biological brother as part of an immigration fraud scheme had surfaced even before she was initially elected to Congress in 2016; but during her first re-election campaign in 2018 the rumors were replaced with detailed and damning research. A guy named David Steinberg did a meticulously-researched series of articles from August 13 to November 5, 2018, that as far as I can see definitively prove the allegations. Scott Johnson of PowerLine has followed the story extensively, and in this summary post from July 18, 2019 not only summarizes the facts, but also provides links to all of Steinberg’s articles.

Incredibly, Omar is almost never asked about this situation by the press, and has almost entirely avoided even addressing it. No “mainstream” news source has subjected Omar to anything like the examination that Santos got from the Post or Gabbard. Omar has never even had to answer a direct question as to whether her ex-husband Ahmed Nur Said Elmi is related to her. However, in this October 17, 2018 article from the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Omar is quoted as saying that the allegations that she had married her brother are “disgusting lies.” So, if the allegations are true, that one is an affirmative misrepresentation.

Richard Blumenthal. Blumenthal is a sitting Senator from Connecticut, just re-elected in the November 2022 election. He was first elected to the Senate in 2010. In the run-up to that campaign, Blumenthal made numerous statements that he had served “in Vietnam” during the Vietnam War. On May 17, 2010, the New York Times (to its credit) ran a big article on Blumenthal’s false statements about his Vietnam service. For example, the Times quotes Blumenthal from a 2008 appearance before a veterans’ group in Norwalk:

“We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam,” Mr. Blumenthal said to the group gathered in Norwalk in March 2008.

There are several other such direct quotes. But, according to the Times, Blumenthal’s history of military service is somewhat different:

Mr. Blumenthal . . . never served in Vietnam. He obtained at least five military deferments from 1965 to 1970 and took repeated steps that enabled him to avoid going to war, according to records. The deferments allowed Mr. Blumenthal to complete his studies at Harvard; pursue a graduate fellowship in England; serve as a special assistant to The Washington Post’s publisher, Katharine Graham; and ultimately take a job in the Nixon White House. In 1970, with his last deferment in jeopardy, he landed a coveted spot in the Marine Reserve, which virtually guaranteed that he would not be sent to Vietnam.

Elizabeth Warren. Ms. Warren claimed “Native American” ancestry going all the way back before her first getting hired to teach at Harvard Law School in 1992. Warren first ran for the Senate from Massachusetts in 2012. According to an article at Boston.com from May 31, 2012, Warren admitted at that point in her campaign that she had told Harvard (and before that her prior employer the University of Pennsylvania) about her claimed ethnic status. But she maintained that the claim had nothing to do with her getting hired:

Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren acknowledged for the first time late Wednesday night that she told Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania that she was Native American, but she continued to insist that race played no role in her recruitment.

In September 2018 the Boston Globe did a big investigation, and determined that even though Warren claimed Native American ethnic status on each occasion, that claim had nothing to do with Warren getting hired either at Harvard or any of four prior academic employers. The Boston Globe article is behind paywall, but here is a summary from CBS News, September 2, 2018:

The newspaper [Boston Globe] reports that interviews and documents show the issue [of Warren’s Native American ancestry] was not considered by Harvard Law faculty or those who admitted the now U.S. senator from Massachusetts to law school at Rutgers or to jobs at The University of Houston, The University of Texas, and the University of Pennsylvania.

All five of those academic institutions are completely obsessessed with race and ethnicity, and were equally so obsessessed in the 80s and 90s when Warren was hired. The quoted statement is one of the most preposterous lies I have ever seen from the American mainstream press, and that’s really saying something.

President Joe Biden. And finally, how about our current President? Santos is not remotely at Biden’s level as a political liar. As Douglas Murray recounts in the New York Post from December 29, Biden has variously claimed that he got three undergraduate degrees from the University of Delaware, had a full academic scholarship, and finished at the top of his class. But the truth:

Turned out he’d been at the bottom of the class and scraped a single degree.

But, out of a universe of dozens of candidates for Biden’s most egregious lie, I pick the claim that he never spoke to his son Hunter about his business dealings. From USA Today, September 21, 2019:

“I have never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings,” Biden said. “Here’s what I know. Trump should be investigated.”

That’s an attempt to avoid responsibility for what would be criminal activity. The statement has been definitively disproven by eyewitness accounts of Biden business-associate Tony Bobulinski, and by emails that Bobulinski has produced. No lie of Santos comes close to that level of significance.

I’m certainly not trying to stand up here for Republicans as being pure on this issue. If you’d like to read about some notable political lies by Republicans, check out this article from The New York Times from December 28 (a broad survey of political liars covering both Republicans and Democrats). But the remarkable thing is the extent to which the media protect and cover for conduct of Democrats that is far more egregious than what Santos has done, including criminal conduct in the case of our current President. In case you were wondering, the title of this post refers to Biden, not Santos.

The World as I See It: Happiness and The Red Wave, Part II

This has been an interesting pre-election period, and if you have a sense of humor, it's even better.   Let's start out with this piece, The RNC Sues Google, saying:

People in the industry refer to your email list as your “owned audience,” but it turns out you might not own it after all. The companies that run the major email systems tend to be on the left. My own organization moved away from MailChimp on account of apparent political bias that obstructed our ability to send emails, without restriction, to tens of thousands of email subscribers. Now, the Republican National Committee is suing Google, alleging that Gmail is discriminating against Republicans during a crucial fundraising season....

How great is it for the party in power to impose censorship without imposing censorship because their catspaws are doing it for them, and apparently, it's legal since they're not government entities.

But the Democrats are also getting help from others, like Mitch McConnell who pulled PAC ads out of New Hampshire's Don Bolduc's campaign, to the tune of six and a half million dollars on an election that's now a toss up.  And why would he do that?   Well, it appears he doesn't like Bolduc and I'm guessing it's because if Bolduc gets in, he will happily hold the door open if they decide to kick McConnell out of the leadership.   But never fear, Mitch just moved some of that money to another candidate.  He's pumping around nine million in to Lisa Malinowski's campaign against Kelly Tshibka, and I'm guessing for the same reason, and "seven Alaska Republican committees have issued a public rebuke of McConnell’s financial influence behind 21-year incumbent Murkowski", demanding he stop funding anyone except Tshibka.   And where does Murkowski stand?  She pledges to vote for the Democrat running against Sarah Palin.   

Channeling Captain Renault, I'm shocked, shocked I tell you! 

And  imagine this.  The Republicans in Alaska are upset over that, but it seems to be okay with McConnell.  Imagine that.  Perhaps they're thinking it's time to ditch Mitch, who has also reduced funding for Senate candidate Blake Masters in Arizona by around $8 million.

Here's what it comes down to, kicking "McConnell from his leadership position will be a major step in dismantling the self-serving, self-promoting, self-preserving, corrupt, and nepotistic confederacy that is D.C. Democrat Establishment."  

Of course only Senators can vote on this, but whether these people are going to the Senate or the House it seems to me if there are enough anti-McConnell voices in the Congress they'll create a herd mentality and channel Oliver Cromwell.  

As for retired general Don Bolduc.  He is running for the Senate, and he says even without McConnell's help, he has momentum, and if that momentum seats him in the Senate, you can pretty much guess his vote.

So, since polls are now showing seemingly sure Democrat victories are being termed toss up, one has to ask, Is the Red Wave Back?  It seems to me, precluding massive voter fraud as occurred in the 2020 election, which I've tracked and serialized, the Republicans will not only take the House, but the Senate and in far bigger numbers than previously thought.  When you see New York City going for the Republican Senate candidate, you can understand one thing.  Americans are really not happy! And when places like Greenwich Village start objecting to the outcome of leftist policies, you know the rest of America is "really" unhappy, and that unhappiness is spreading to all factions of American society.

What tact are Republican candidates taking?

 

Leora Levy running against Richard Blumenthal, states,  Richard Blumenthal is a career politician, I’m a ‘career American", and that's resonating, especially since he's lied about his military service, he's been called a communist, for good reason, and Dan Mitchell called him the most reprehensible politician of the year, who in 2021 doesn't think a national debt of 28.4 trillion is too much.  

 

Apparently he doesn't think a national debt of 31 trillion is too much either, and as far as I can tell, he sees no amount as too much.  How can anyone that insane be elected over and over again?  Oh, I know.  It's Connecticut!  So, what's wrong with the people of Connecticut?  I guess the same thing that's wrong with the people of Delaware. 

Then we have Herschel Walker, who is claiming he'll be a ‘warrior in Washington’, and no matter how much mud the Democrats are slinging on him, it's not sticking, while the facts of his opponents ill dealings are sticking.   But this isa honey pot of voter fraud.  So, we'll see. 

 

But I think it would be a good thing if everyone clearly understood: The world is watching whether of not this midterm is a harbinger of America once again embracing the traditional values of an American society wrapped in the American Constitution, or a nation bordering on the edge of collapse being controlled by leftists who hate America and are doing all they can to destroy the only thing that stands between freedom and worldwide tyranny. Because without America, there is no free world.

 

(Reprehensible) Politician of the Year

I’ve written before that Connecticut should change its motto from the Nutmeg State to the Taxnut State.  And if you want an example, consider that Democrats in one town ran for reelection (successfully!) using the slogan “Lowest tax increase in 10 years."  Maybe there’s something in the water that produces terrible politicians. Consider, for instance, this bit of state-worship from one of the state’s Senators, Chris Murphy.

That’s a despicable sentiment, but Sen. Murphy may actually be decent and rational compared to Connecticut’s other Senator. Richard Blumenthal actually took part in an event with the Communist Party. I’m not joking. Click on Phil Kerpen’s tweet.

At the risk of understatement, this is disgusting. Communism is responsible for 100 million deaths and mass impoverishment of hundreds of millions more. It spawned one of the world’s most evil nations, the Soviet Union, and it continues to produce misery today in barbaric regimes such as North Korea and Cuba.  I’m not the only one to be nauseated. Writing for the Washington Examiner, Quin Hillyer explains why Blumenthal’s participation should be viewed as unacceptable.

Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut spoke at a Dec. 11 awards ceremony for the Connecticut affiliate of Communist Party USA. …Blumenthal pronounced himself “really excited and honored to be with you today” while presenting the group’s chosen award winners with special certificates of recognition…

Throughout the event, including in the introduction of Blumenthal himself just 60 seconds before the senator took the microphone, the two co-hosts repeatedly celebrated their Communist Party affiliation and urged listeners to join the Communist Party. …In any rational, morally decent media world, this would be a big scandal. …

This is not some warm-and-fuzzy, well-intentioned (even if slightly impractical) affiliation. The Communist Party USA repeatedly tried to subvert constitutional democracy and spy on the U.S. government while deliberately and regularly colluding with the Soviet Union. …There is absolutely no moral difference between consorting with a Communist Party affiliate and consorting with a white supremacist or neo-Nazi one.

The record of international communist cruelty is indisputable, with its 100 million deaths far exceeding (in number) the genocidal effects of Nazism. …There is nothing remotely defensible in Blumenthal’s enthusiastic participation in the event. His actions were morally depraved.

Amen.

In the past, my “Politician of the Year” award has been somewhat satirical. I’ve highlighted politicians who are mostly guilty of stereotypical sins.

• Special privileges.
• Entitlement mentality.
• Impressive corruption.
• Uncharacteristic honesty.
• Taxpayer-funded vanity.

Senator Blumenthal belongs in a special category, one that merits disgust and disdain.

P.S. It’s quite likely that the Senator was a victim of bad staff work. Some aide or campaign flunky probably booked the event and didn’t conduct the 5 minutes of background work that would have been needed to find the red flags (no pun intended). That being said, he should have walked out of the event when the women who preceded him (and introduced him!) was pimping for the Communist Party.

He gave aid and comfort to an evil, repugnant, and despicable ideology.

Sen. Blumenthal: "No,’ $28.4 Trillion in Federal Debt is Not Too Much"

On August 11, 2021 RiAshlianna Kreiner  posted this piece  where Sen. Blumenthal, the Democrat from Connecticut, was asked if he thought 28.4 trillion dollars in national debt was too much.  He's quoted saying: 

“No, it’s an investment that we need to make to meet the challenges of our nation in the coming century. It’s an investment for ourselves and our children, and both the physical and the human assets that we need to meet the challenges for them.”.......

Well, since the national debt "has ballooned, from $1.1 trillion to $28.trillion 39 years", I really think this should provoke some serious questions from the nation, starting with:

• How exactly does Blumenthal think the nation can pay that back?
• Does he think it should be paid back?
• Is there a limit to how high the national debt should go?
  
• Does he believe it matters? 
• Does he believe just printing money that has no value and causes skyrocketing inflation is a good idea? 
• Is he the brightest pebble in Connecticut's brook?
  
• And finally, since the state of Connecticut has  re-elected him for years, we should try to find out if the state of Connecticut is an out door insane asylum?

Blumenthal's credibility has been an issue for years.  Let's start with the Kavanaugh hearings and this piece, The three Lies of Christine Blasey Ford with Blumenthal saying:

“Who lies in one instance, lies in all.” 

The article points out:

Blumenthal was referring to Judge Brett Kavanaugh, who hasn’t lied about anything, as far as anyone has been able to tell. But we can turn it around to focus on the party that Sen. Blumenthal was speaking out for. In how many instances has Christine Blasey Ford lied?

Her lies were exposed to the point no one believed her unless they were stupid or so totally partisan it didn't matter what she said as long is what she said promoted their leftist narrative to destroy a Trump nominee for the Supreme Court.  Blumenthal was one of them!  So totally partisan this "brilliant attorney" looked stupid.  But it gets better, much better.  Hypocrisy! 

Why hypocrisy?  According to him he was a Vietnam veteran.  The left defended him because there were times he reported his service accurately, but there were times he embellished his service, and we know this for sure because he's quoted saying:

"I routinely describe my pride at having served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves during the Vietnam era,"........... "On a few occasions, I have misspoken about my service. And I regret that, and I take full responsibility."

He apparently misspoke a lot.  Including whether or not he really was all that proud to serve?  If so then why the following: 

 "He obtained at least five military deferments from 1965 to 1970 and took repeated steps that enabled him to avoid going to war, according to records.".........."In 1970, with his last deferment in jeopardy, he landed a coveted spot in the Marine Reserve, which virtually guaranteed that he would not be sent to Vietnam."...........At a 2008 ceremony in front of the Veterans War Memorial Building in Shelton, he praised the audience for paying tribute to troops fighting abroad, noting that America had not always done so. “I served during the Vietnam era,” he said. “I remember the taunts, the insults, sometimes even physical abuse.”..............Asked about the Bridgeport rally, when he told the crowd, “When we returned, we saw nothing like this".............

Jean Risley, the chairwoman of the Connecticut Vietnam Veterans Memorial Inc., recalled listening to an emotional Mr. Blumenthal offering remarks at the dedication of the memorial. She remembered him describing the indignities that he and other veterans faced when they returned from Vietnam. “It was a sad moment,”.........“He said, ‘When we came back, we were spat on; we couldn’t wear our uniforms.”........she checked into [his] military background and learned that he had not, in fact, served in Vietnam.

 The New York Times claimed: 

........he was fond of telling stories about his time as a combat soldier in Vietnam.  He had lots of stories, full of details, especially how veterans were abused when they came home......... 

So, was it that he misspoke or he lied?  Either way, Blumenthal has the credibility of swamp gas, and this incredibly stupid statement about the national debt corroborates that.    

Updates:  One thing is clear, and these updates confirm it.  No amount of taxes will ever be able to outpace the insane spending going on unless we cut government first and then wasteful programs will be much easier to identify and eliminate.

 Sen. Ernst: ‘Absolutely,’ $28.4 Trillion Debt is ‘Too Much’ -  In the federal government, in addition to the legislative, judicial, and executive branches, there are 15 departments, such as Defense, HHS, Commerce, and Education. Also, there are approximately 453 agencies.  According to The Hill, “The federal government employs nearly 9.1 million workers, comprising nearly 6 percent of total employment in the United States. The figure includes nearly 2.1 million federal employees, 4.1 million contract employees, 1.2 million grant employees, 1.3 million active duty military personnel, and more than 500,000 postal service employees.” 

Sen. Daines: Start Reducing Federal Spending at Dept of Education - “Tell you, one of the first places we should do is look at the Department of Education. It’s a massive bureaucracy. The average—the average salary in Washington D.C., of the Department of Education, is over $100,000 dollars a year.”  “We should take those dollars and send them back to the states to invest in the classrooms and the teachers, not the federal government,” he said.

 

 Federal Taxes Set Record Through July - The federal government set a new record for the amount of taxes it collected through the first ten months of fiscal 2021 (October through July), according to the Monthly Treasury Statement. Total federal tax receipts were $3,318,078,000,000 for the period.

 

Updates: 8/14/21:  I think this is interesting and we need to look at this in total. When the Republicans take over the Congress in 2022, what are they going to do about it?  While I think the Republicans will take the the Senate we have to understand, the Senate can't have huge turnovers in one election because the Senate is broken up into thirds.  Only one third of the Senate comes up for election every two years, but I believe the house is going to turn over hugely.  In the past Republicans, when out of power, shot off their mouths about spending and debt, but did nothing to fix it once in power, and actually spent more and grew government.  What will they do this time?  As the reporter in Charlie Wilson's War said:  We'll See!

Burr: ‘There Are a Lot of Agencies I Would Eliminate, If I Could’ - When asked if the $28.4 trillion federal debt was too much, Senator Richard Burr (R-N.C.) said, “Sure, it is.”  He added that there are a lot of federal agencies he would close to reduce the debt. At the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday, CNS News asked the senator, “The debt of the federal government is now 28.4 trillion. Is that too much?” Sen. Burr said: “Sure, it is.”............

 

Sen. Cornyn: ‘Yes,’ $28.4 Trillion Federal Debt is Too Much, ‘Is That a Trick Question?’ - When asked if the $28.4 trillion federal debt was too much, Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) said, “Yes, is this a trick question?” At the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday, CNS News asked the senator, “The debt of the federal government is 28.4 trillion. Is that too much?”  Sen. Cornyn said: “Yes, is this a trick question?”.......

Sen. Braun: Govt Operating on $28.4 Trillion Debt Will ‘Drive It Into the Ditch’- When asked if the $28.4 trillion federal debt was too much, Senator Mike Braun (R-Ind.) said it was “too much a long time ago” and it will “drive it into the ditch sooner rather than later.” At the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday, CNS News asked the senator, “The debt of the federal government is now $28.4 trillion. Is that too much?”.......

 

Sen. Rand Paul: $28.4 Trillion Federal Debt is ‘Absolutely’ Too Much - When asked if the $28.4 trillion federal debt was too much, Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky) said, “Absolutely, and we are borrowing about $2 million dollars a minute.”At the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday, CNS News asked the senator, “The debt of the federal government is now $28.4 trillion dollars. Is that too much?”Sen. Paul said, “Absolutely, and we are borrowing about $2 million dollars a minute.”.......

Sen. Shelby: The $28.4 Trillion Federal Debt Will Affect the Standards and Opportunities of Young Americans - When asked if the $28.4 trillion federal debt was too much, Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) said, “That is too much, and it is staggering,” and “it’s going to affect, especially the young people, standards of living, your opportunities, America’s standings in the world, economically and otherwise if we don’t bring it under control.” At the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday, CNSNews.com asked the senator, “The debt of the federal government is now $28.4 trillion dollars. Is that too much?”............

Sen. Cruz: ‘Of Course,’ the $28.4 Trillion Federal Debt Is Too Much - When asked if the $28.4 trillion federal debt was too much, Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said, “Of course, it is.”At the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday, CNS News asked the senator, “The debt of the federal government is now 28.4 trillion. Is that too much?” Sen. Cruz replied, “Of course, it is.”......

Now let's take a look at the Democrat view of this immense debt that's going to climb to another estimated ten trillion dollars within five years if these insane budgets pass.

V.P. Biden ’09: ‘We Have to Go Spend Money to Keep From Going Bankrupt’ - While Republicans warn that President Joe Biden’s multi-trillion government-spending plans will bankrupt the nation, Biden claims they are merely “investments” – a philosophy he touted as Barack Obama’s vice president, when he declared that spending is actually the only way to avoid bankruptcy.  Back on July 16, 2009, while pitching the yet-to-be-passed Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) at an AARP town hall meeting, Vice President Biden said that the U.S. would go bankrupt unless it spends more:..........

Sen. Schatz: The Question is Can We Maintain Debt-Service Payments -- 'We Can' -  When asked if the $28.4 trillion federal debt was too much, Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) said, “I think the question is whether we can maintain debt-service payments, and we can." At the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday, CNS News asked the senator, “The debt of the federal government is now $28.4 trillion. Is that too much?”............“This year [2021], the federal government will spend $300 billion on interest payments on the national debt. This is the equivalent of nearly 9 percent of all federal revenue collection and over $2,400 per household.”  .........

 

 Sen. Warner: Federal Debt, Now $28.4 Trillion, Was ‘Too Much’ ‘10 Years Ago’  - When asked if the $28.4 trillion federal debt was too much, Senator Mark Warner (D-Va.) said, “It was too much when I started the Gang of Six Effort about 10 years ago.” CNS News asked the follow-up question, “Is there any federal program or agency that you would eliminate to reduce the federal spending?” The senator replied, “I think those ridiculous kind of sound-bite responses are the kind of irresponsibility got us in this place.” According to the U.S. Treasury Department, the total public debt outstanding as of Aug. 9, 2021, was $28,427,651,083,061.54, or roughly $28.4 trillion.............(My Take - “I think those ridiculous kind of sound-bite responses are the kind of irresponsibility got us in this place.”  Another way of saying I don't have a clue how to fix it, and I don't want to offend my party with the truth, so I'll babble out a logical fallacy to look like I have something to say that's worth listening to. RK)

The great solon Richard Blumenthal, hero of An Loc, Ia Drang, Khe Sanh, Hue, and Tet, has explained to us that “Who lies in one instance, lies in all.”  Blumenthal was referring to Judge Brett Kavanaugh, who hasn’t lied about anything, as far as anyone has been able to tell. My Take - The article starts out calling Bulmenthal "the great solon", which confused me as it isn't capitalized and the real Solon was highly revered.  Here's what that means:

"Solon was a particularly wise lawgiver in ancient Athens who was born in approximately 630 B.C. and lived until about 560 B.C. He was one of the Seven Wise Men of Greece, and he implemented a number of reforms in Athenian law. In English, his name has been used generically since at least 1625 to refer to any wise statesman. Contemporary American journalists, with whom the term is especially popular, have extended the meaning even further to include any member of a lawmaking body, wise or not. In fact, today the word is sometimes used ironically for a legislator who displays a marked lack of wisdom, rather than a profusion of it."  

Then the article calls him a "hero of An Loc, Ia Drang, Khe Sanh, Hue, and Tet, which was meant to mock Blumenthal's military claims.  Which makes taking a position against Kavanaugh of “Falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus, meaning false in one thing, false in everything", serious hypocrisy on his part. 

Oh, one more thing.  Trump called him out on this and one person is quoted as saying that it was hypothetical of Trump to do so as he received deferments also.  But Trump didn't mislead anyone on any claims about military service to become President of the United States, as Blumental did to become a United States Senator. 

Where Do We Get Such Losers?

When delivered by Ronald Reagan, the question “Where do we get such men?” used to be the ultimate contemplation about the people who make this country great. Not anymore.

Today, when we look at the delusion and deceit surrounding at least five Democrat members of the U.S. Senate, the question now becomes “Is this the best we have?” Let’s look at a few.

When Cory Booker moved to Newark, New Jersey, he had it all: multiple degrees from Stanford, a Rhodes scholarship, a winning smile and a willingness to lie his keister off about a central feature of his earlier campaigns.

He also had an imaginary friend, T-Bone -- a drug-dealing, streetwise guardian angel of Cory Booker -- as he tried to convince the people of Newark he was not just a little rich kid, he was one of them, bursting with street cred.

Booker trotted out the T-Bone stories at every early campaign stop in his races for mayor: T-Bone told him this, T-Bone told him that. And of course, as brilliant as T-Bone was, he was still on many occasions the recipient of Cory Booker’s sage counsel.

But T-Bone was never there. The Star Ledger and National Review broke this story of delusion almost at the same time. An excerpt from Booker’s home town paper.............Read more
