The Labor Department’s Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) reports that openings fell in July. Economists had forecasted 9.5 million job openings, but there were 8.8 million reported. Plus, companies continue with layoffs. Why are government reports always revised down months later when no one is paying the same attention? (You know the answer!) Consider this:

  • June payrolls originally reported at $209,000 … and everyone applauded
  • June payrolls revised DOWN one month later to 185,000
  • June payrolls revised again DOWN two months later to 105,000

July was also REVISED DOWN:

  • Originally reported at 185,000 and revised DOWN to 105,000.

Read this list (which is not a complete list) and ask yourself if Joey’s Build Back Better is helping to build back the economy or your wallet. The important thing to remember is that Biden is able to spend about 40 percent of his presidency on vacation!

  1. CVS (pharmacy) – Approximately 5,000 non-customer-facing jobs (less than 2 percent of its total workforce) will be cut.
  2. Farmers Insurance (insurance) – The company announced it would lay off 2,400 employees, or 11% of its headcount, in hopes of securing long-term profitability.
  3. Klaussner Home Furnishings (furniture) – Unexpectedly closed its doors, putting up to 1,800 workers out of a job.
  4. Intel (technology) – More than 300 California employees (GPU software development, cloud computing and artificial intelligence) will be let go.
  5. Master Lock (locks and security) – The company has been in operation since 1921. It plans to start layoffs at its Milwaukee manufacturing plant and continue until its closure in March 2024, affecting 325 employees.
  6. Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams (furniture) – Abruptly shut down, affecting hundreds of warehouse and retail employees.
  7. T-Mobile – Plans to lay off 5,000 employees, or 7 percent of its workforce.

Most companies aren’t very particular about who buys their product or service. They are just as happy to see dollar signs whether it’s from Conservatives or progressives. However, there are some companies that put most/all of their advertising dollars on left-leaning networks. As a Conservative Keyboard Advocate, you can let these two companies know that you are aware they do a lot of their advertising on liberal news channels and that you will take that into consideration when shopping.
