The Healthcare Exclusion Is (Still) the Tax Code’s Most Harmful Loophole

I wrote back in 2016 that the health care exclusion was the worst loophole in America’s monstrosity of a tax code.

Today’s column will explain why that is still true and we’ll begin with this short explainer video from the folks at Kite & Key.

When I give speeches on this issue, my main message is that America’s health system is an inefficient and expensive mess because of bad government policy.

The main symptom of that policy is what is known as third-party payer, which occurs when a consumer buys with other people’s money. And that is a perfect description of how government has screwed up our health system.

For all intents and purposes (see cartoon), we don’t allow markets to function in health care.

Instead of buyers and sellers directly interacting, government policies have imposed layers of intervention.

Since I realize some people may not view my cartoon as evidence, here’s a chart showing the dramatic increase in third-party payer in America.

And this chart is from 2017. I’m guessing the data is even worse today (though I hope my assumption is wrong).

I’m not the only person who recognizes this problem. Far from it.

Dominic Pino wrote about the healthcare exclusion’s pernicious effect in 2023. Here are some key passages from that National Review column.

 

Excluding employer-provided health coverage from the income-tax base contributes to all sorts of problems with U.S. health care. …it’s really a classic story of unintended consequences. …Rather than getting money from their employers to spend on anything, including health insurance, most working Americans have part of their pay withheld from them and used by their employers to purchase group health insurance. … 

Other forms of insurance are not treated this way. People don’t risk losing their home insurance if they lose their jobs. Employers don’t select car-insurance plans for employees to use. Only employer-provided health insurance is exempt from the income tax, so workers’ health insurance is entangled with employment in a unique way. …Transferring control from workers to employers, as the tax code effectively does, distorts the health-care market in all sorts of ways. It lowers price sensitivity among consumers, which contributes to high prices.

As Dominic points out, and as the video explained, the healthcare exclusion results in lower wages for workers.

And here are some excerpts from an article last September by James Capretta and Bryan Dowd of the American Enterprise Institute.

 

The full exclusion of premiums paid for employer-sponsored insurance (ESI) from income and payroll taxation is profligate. The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) estimates it cost the Treasury $0.3 trillion in 2023 and will drain another $5.6 trillion from the government’s receipts over the coming decade. It is far and away the most expensive tax break in federal law. …encouraging excessively generous and loosely-managed health insurance at the expense of taxable wages and salaries. … 

The Affordable Care Act (ACA), approved by Congress in 2010, imposed…“Cadillac tax,” a new levy on employers…a somewhat clumsy effort to limit the tax subsidy without admitting that was the objective. It still faced stiff resistance from businesses and labor unions, which led to Congress repealing it in 2019.

Since Capretta mentioned Obamacare’s Cadillac Tax, I can’t resist mentioning that I liked that provision.

Not because I like taxes, but rather because I want to fix the mess of our health care system.

And the Cadillac Tax would have had a big effect, as shown by this visual.

The goal of the tax was not to raise revenue, but instead to discourage over-insurance.

In a logical and sensible system, health insurance would be like auto insurance or home insurance. In other words, it should be a way for consumers to protect themselves against large and unexpected costs.

Today, thanks to government, we have health insurance that is akin to a pre-paid, all-you-can-eat buffet.

Alternative Energy is a Bust, and That Was as Predictable as Night Follows Day. Get Over It!

This article appeared in Human Events in 2012, but the link no longer works, as Human Events has gone through some changes.  Supposedly it's still publishing on line, but I don't see much from them, so you will have to take my word for what was said... or not ..... as it pleases you.  

The article went on to say:

It was one of Barack Obama’s favorite green-energy companies. And green-energy companies, according to the president, are one of the best ways to facilitate economic growth.  Well, yesterday, The Denver Post detailed the criminal investigation of Abound Solar, a defunct solar-panel manufacturer in Colorado that was run on taxpayer “investments,” for securities fraud, consumer fraud and financial misrepresentation.

Abound shuttered its Colorado plant during the summer and filed for bankruptcy, leaving “125 workers without jobs and taxpayers holding the bag for up to $60 million in defaulted loans.” 

I don’t care how much money is wasted on this horsepucky, alternative energy is a bust, it always has been a bust, and expensive bust.

• No Amount Of Subsidies Will Ever Make A Wind/Solar Electricity System Economically Feasible

We're not running out of "fossil fuels", CO2 isn't warming the globe, and the computer projections about global warming are all "game boy" science, garbage in, garbage out.   The fact is, while these nitwits are often wrong, they're never in doubt, and humanity is left paying the penalty for their folly.  

The reality is the technology for so-called alternative energy has not progressed all that much beyond what Jimmy Carter tried in the seventies.  That was a failure then and so is it still a failure now.  Even if we could get these farces to work and produce vast amounts of energy we couldn’t do it without destroying the environment.   

Did anyone ever see how much land it takes to produce large amounts of solar energy?  Did anyone ever see how many wind mills it takes to produce large amounts of wind energy?  Did anyone ever see the impact ethanol production takes on the environment, and at every stage of production?

Even beyond the fact alternative energy systems are completely incapable of producing enough energy, and do it reliably, the biggest problem they have to overcome is how to store enough energy for when the sun doesn’t shine and the wind doesn’t blow.  You can only pack so many electrons in a confined area.  No battery system in the world can meet those needs.  That means we will have to maintain traditional power plants in reserve.  Okay, what's that mean.  That means they are up and running, but not producing energy, or little energy.   

I have gone over this before, but I will do it again.

Power plants cannot just be shut off like a light switch.  It takes a lot of heat to make enough steam to turn the turbines at a high enough rate to produce enough electricity to meet demand.  That means they are burning coal or gas constantly to keep the ovens hot.   That is expensive.  So what we are doing is paying for energy we aren’t using, in order to use energy we don’t need.  

 The world went insane over this, but that's changing because as Europe is discovering alternatives are a bust, and an expensive bust.

We've reached the Inevitability Factor!  That's when reality reaches its zenith!  What I find interesting is all of this was a predictable as night follows day, but when corrupt thinking permeates governments and the media, "truth takes the hindmost".  Ideology makes smart people stupid.  

IRS Lets Terror Fundraiser That Praised D.C. Attack Get Tax-Exempt Donations

Samidoun, a group that the United States Treasury described as a “sham charity” that serves as a fundraiser for terrorists, had some thoughts on the recent D.C. leftist terrorist attack. 

It reposted an open letter to its Telegram group declaring that “Elias Rodriguez’s act was fully justified” when he shot Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim in the back. “It is justice.”

“May it redound to teach a lesson and set an example,” the letter wrote of the brutal murders while describing Islamic terrorist supporters as “struggling behind enemy lines, inside the US”.

Samidoun leaders described the killings as a “natural consequence” and warned that “genocide has to have consequences.”

There is no shortage of terrorist supporters in this country, but this group of terrorist supporters continues to benefit from tax-exempt donations despite years of reporting by the David Horowitz Freedom Center and even sanctions being imposed by the Treasury Department.

Samidoun was designated as an arm of the PFLP terrorist group by Israel in 2021, by Germany in 2023 after its members handed out candy after terrorist attacks, and in the U.S., Canada and the Netherlands in 2024. In 2023, the Freedom Center’s report predicted that despite the growing crackdown, the IRS would continue to allow it to benefit from tax-exempt status. The same government agency that spent six years harassing the David Horowitz Freedom Center has spent four years refusing to stop tax-exempt donations from going to a terrorist front group.

The Treasury Department imposed sanctions on Samidoun last year declaring that it “provides financial support to the sanctioned PFLP” and stating that “all property and interests in property” are “blocked and must be reported” and finally prohibited all “transactions by U.S. persons or within (or transiting) the United States that involve any property or interests in property of designated or otherwise blocked persons.” The sanctions extended to a ban on the “making of any contribution or provision of funds, goods, or services by, to” at risk of “civil sanctions” and “secondary sanctions” on those providing funding to the terrorist front group.

Those would potentially include George Soros, Ben & Jerry’s and the IRS.

How does a front for a terrorist group get tax-exempt donations anyway? Through a dubious practice known as fiscal sponsorship in which yet another front group accepts tax-exempt donations for it making it the front group for a front group for a terrorist organization.

The Alliance For Global Justice was created to support Marxist Sandinista terrorists in Nicaragua, but it has served as a fiscal sponsor for over 140 groups including a major BLM umbrella group, a Cuban front group and a bail fund that sprang an assassin from prison in Louisville, Kentucky, and for Samidoun.

AFGJ describes itself as the “Accounting Department for the Movement”, solicits for groups to ‘fiscally sponsor’ and even solicits donations to subsidize its fiscal sponsorship program for various radical groups. After extensive reporting by the David Horowitz Freedom Center, House members and IRS employees are well aware of the situation and have been for years.

Why has nothing been done? One answer may be that the AFGJ’s role as the “Accounting Department for the Movement” provides it with impunity because of its role in sponsoring major leftist organizations including, for a time, the Movement for Black Lives, one of the two big BLM umbrella groups, and the money that has come through it including from George Soros, the Tides Foundation, the Ben and Jerry’s Foundation, and other wealthy leftists and foundations.

Its last available IRS form for 2022 reported over $10 million in contributions and grants.

Take down a mob accountant and you take down the mob. Taking down AFGJ may take down too much of the ‘movement’ with it. And so the AFGJ still retains its nonprofit status, the IRS continues to list it as a legal non-profit, despite receiving complaints, and the AFGJ still continues to solicit tax-exempt donations even when everyone else has cut it off.

AFGJ’s sponsorship of Samidoun led credit card companies and PayPal to stop processing donations to it, but the IRS continued to stick with the leftist organization. Even though the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Asset Control had sanctioned Samidoun, the IRS, an agency of the same department, continues providing nonprofit status to Samidoun’s sponsor.

One part of Treasury is sanctioning a terrorist front group while another is helping to fund it.

Samidoun’s statements in defense of the D.C. terrorist attack shows all too clearly why the United States and other countries cracked down on it. Private financial institutions appear to be in compliance with sanctions. The only organization still not in compliance is the IRS.

That raises the question of whether the United States government can sanction the IRS?

The David Horowitz Freedom Center’s ‘Internal Radical Service’ project had previously documented IRS complicity in allowing not only Samidoun, but domestic terrorists, pedophiles pirates, and even crackhouses to benefit from nonprofit status. The refusal of the IRS to act is undermining foreign policy and even existing terrorist sanctions by the Treasury Department.

That’s why bills such as the ‘No Tax Dollars for Terrorists Act’ and the ‘Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act’ have been introduced only to be blocked by Democrats and some Republicans. And so for now a terrorist front group that praised a terrorist attack in D.C. is able to continue taking tax-exempt money thanks to bureaucrats and politicians in Washington D.C.

We Don't Need To Welcome In People Who Hate Us

Yesterday in Boulder, Colorado, a perpetrator sprayed a flammable liquid on a group of mostly elderly Jews protesting the continued holding of hostages in Gaza. Then he threw Molotov cocktails to set several of the demonstrators on fire. The New York Post reports here that 8 were injured, ranging in age from 52 to 88 years old. Police arrested a man named named Mohamed Sabry Soliman, who was caught on video committing the acts. Oh, and also shouting slogans, including “They are killers! How many children you killed?” and “End Zionists.”

It quickly emerged that Soliman was an Egyptian illegally in the country. He had originally entered legally in 2022 on a tourist visa, but then overstayed. In 2023 he was granted a permit to work in the U.S. by the Biden administration. That expired in March 2025, after which he stayed on illegally.

Which raises the question, why was Soliman in the country in the first place, or granted permission to stay and work, or not thrown out when the permission expired? Whatever you might think about the illegal immigration situation, why on earth do we welcome into the country people who hate us? Did anybody vet this guy, even a little?

Add Soliman to a long list of Middle Easterners in the U.S. at the grace of the government who make no secret of their hatred of the U.S. and of Israel. And who are only too happy to lead groups in acts of trespass, vandalism, and violence. To refresh you on some of the names and roles, here is a May 15 piece from Al-Jazeera with a brief list of some of the most prominent:

Mohsen Mahdawi, Rumeysa Ozturk, Mahmoud Khalil and Badar Khan Suri are among the students targeted by US President Donald Trump.

These four are all student leaders of pro-Hamas, anti-Israel, and pro-BDS movements at elite university campuses — Mahdawi and Khalil at Columbia, Ozturk at Tufts, and Suri at Georgetown.

Consider Khalil. Al-Jazeera identifies him as the “lead negotiator” for the group called Columbia University Apartheid Divest. Isn’t “lead negotiator” the same thing as head of the group? Looking around, I can’t find the name of anyone else owning up to being the leader of this group, and it looks to me like calling himself “lead negotiator” is a thinly-veiled way to preserve some kind of argument that he can avoid responsibility for acts of violence and vandalism carried out by the group.

What has CUAD been up to this past year or so? Read articles about the mayhem at Columbia since the October 7, 2023 Hamas massacres, and you find CUAD intimately involved in all of it. For example, there was the statement put out by CUAD on the one-year anniversary of the massacre, as reported in the New York Times of October 9, 2024:

“We support liberation by any means necessary, including armed resistance,” the group, Columbia University Apartheid Divest . . . . The group marked the anniversary of the Oct. 7 attack on Israel by distributing a newspaper with a headline that used Hamas’s name for it: “One Year Since Al-Aqsa Flood, Revolution Until Victory,” it read, over a picture of Hamas fighters breaching the security fence to Israel. And the group posted an essay calling the attack a “moral, military and political victory” and quoting Ismail Haniyeh, the assassinated former political leader of Hamas.

In January 2025, as reported here in the Columbia Spectator, a Columbia building called Kravis Hall, housing the business school, was vandalized by protesters pouring a cement-like substance down multiple toilets all over the building. Somebody just happened to record an anonymous video of the vandalism, which then got posted on the Instagram accounts of CUAD and another group called New York City resists. Text accompanying the Instagram post described the vandalism as some kind of righteous response to actions of the Israeli military in Gaza.

Or, just a few weeks ago, in early May, protesters occupied Columbia’s main library in the middle of exam time. Here is a May 8 report in Time Magazine. Excerpt:

A Substack post that appeared to be from Columbia University Apartheid Divest, a coalition of student groups supporting the Palestinian cause, said the protesters “renamed” the library the “Basel Al-Araj Popular University” after a Palestinian activist and writer who died in 2017. “The flood shows that as long as Columbia funds and profits from imperialist violence, the people will continue to disrupt Columbia’s profits and legitimacy,” the Substack post added, also reiterating calls for the University to divest from companies with business links to Israel.

Time reports that several Columbia public safety officers were injured attempting to restore order.

These are just examples of numerous disruptive and violent activities at Columbia in which CUAD appears to be intimately involved.

According to the Al-Jazeera piece, Mr. Khalil was granted a green card at some point. I can’t imagine why. Now that the Trump administration is seeking to revoke that and deport Mr. Khalil, his attorneys are spinning the situation as an issue of “free speech.”

I disagree. American citizens are completely entitled to express views that are anti-Israel, anti-semitic, and pro-Hamas (short of the First Amendment limit, which is something like immediate incitement to violence). They are entitled to hate the United States, and to say so. But there is no reason that we must be required to invite foreigners and aliens who express such views into the United States.

The individuals listed in the Al-Jazeera article are people who are here on visas, and who have expressed their hatred of the United States, and whom the Trump administration now wants to deport. Multiple judges have stayed the deportations, at least until the cases are fully heard. Ultimately, I don’t think this is a close issue. The United States is under no obligation to welcome into the country people who hate us. It is high time that applicants for visas of any type get thoroughly vetted for anti-U.S. views.

What Can Be Learned from the Republican Spending Orgy in Texas?

  As shown by the lack of spending restraint in Trump’s absurdly named One Big Beautiful Bill. there are plenty of big-government Republicans in Washington. 

At the risk of understatement, they are not complying with the Golden Rule of fiscal policy.

What might surprise readers, however, is to learn that there are also plenty of big-government Republicans in Texas.

How many?

Enough to make some experts wonder whether there is much difference between Texas Republicans and California Democrats. Here are some excerpts from Vance Ginn’s recent analysis.

…lawmakers are preparing to pass a $337 billion budget for 2026–27, with state funds up 42.8% since 2022. That’s not “conservative governing”—that’s runaway progressive budgeting with an R next to it.  

This moment is especially troubling because Texas had every advantage: a booming economy, a $24 billion surplus, and $28 billion parked in the Rainy Day Fund. Yet from the outset, the political appetite was clear—not to return excess funds to taxpayers, but to spend, expand, ban, and centralize.  

Of that massive surplus, only about $6.5 billion is going to tax relief, and only about $3.5 billion in new relief that wasn’t already in law. The rest is poured into bloated agencies, corporate handouts, and vote-buying schemes that defy every principle of responsible budgeting.

While the most recent budget is very disappointing, GOP profligacy in the Lon Star State is hardly a new phenomenon.

Here’s a chart Vance shared in another one of his recent articles.

Returning to Vance’s original article, he zeroes in on the real problem, which is that there’s not an effective cap on spending growth.

What’s most frustrating is that all of this could have been avoided. The Sustainable Budget Project lays out a clear path forward: tie budget growth to population plus inflation—a principle that matches government growth with the average taxpayer’s ability to fund it. 

Had lawmakers followed this rule, we could have prevented overspending, driven down taxes… This session may go down as the most progressive in Texas history, not because Democrats were in control… 

We must adopt a strong constitutional spending limit that applies to all state and local spending, closes every property tax limit loophole, and requires a supermajority to exceed the limit.

What makes a spending cap so vital is that a state that has relatively good economic policy (Texas ranks #5 according to Economic Freedom of North America and ranks #6 according to Freedom in the Fifty States) is going to enjoy good growth.

And good growth will generate plenty of tax revenue (not income tax revenue since Texas has never made the mistake of adopting an income tax, but other tax revenues have grown rapidly because of more economic activity).

The problem, as Vance explained above, is that politicians have a hard time letting go of this extra revenue. Which is why a spending cap so important.

Indeed, it’s worth noting that some of the scholarly research on spending caps notes that they are effective for exactly this reason. They prevent politicians from spending windfall revenues.

The bottom line is that Texas needs a Colorado-style spending cap that restricts the budget so it can grow no faster than population plus inflation.

And government spending is the problem. Limit government and the symptoms of tax increases and more debt will go away.

2026/2028 Elections, and ActBlue in Review - The 2026/2028 elections are already heating up, and Trump still has three years and nine months left in his term.  It's clear to me this talk about a Trump third term is hyperbolic horsepucky, and JD Vance will be the Republican candidate.  But what about the Democrats?  James Seigfreid compared the Democrat party's process for picking candidates equivalent to walking into numerous mental health institutions all over the nation and rounding up patients at random saying:  “ok-you’re running for this office…you there in the bow-tie…you’re running for this office”.

Democrats Are the Greatest Threat to Democracy We’ve Ever Faced - Forget any foreign adversary or terrorist group, Democrats in this country are the greatest threat to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness our country has ever known. Internal threats are always dangerous, especially to a country as strong as ours, but that half the political establishment and almost all of the media are active participants in actions designed for the specific purpose of harming American citizens (up to and including their deaths) and destroying the country is something for which there is no precedent.........

Are Republicans Surging for 2026?

Based on the 2024 election, Democrats should have a very difficult time in the 2026 midterm … but that assumes Congressional Republicans do more than hold hearings and chat on Fox New.

In 2024, 435 counties trended more Democratic while 2,678 moved more Republican. New York Democrat Representative Ritchie Torres (who supports Israel and has gone against his party on other issues) told the New York Times:

“We could be entering a world where the greatest predictor of voting behavior is no longer race. Donald Trump’s greatest achievement — his greatest electoral achievement — lies not in breaking the blue wall in the industrial Midwest, but in beginning to break the blue walls in states like New York, and in counties like the Bronx.”

Canada: More than 56,000 Canadians of all faiths recently rallied in Toronto for Israel in the second annual “Walk for Israel.” Wherever you looked, there were Canadian and Israeli flags. You would have expected the meshuggah pro-Hamas crowd to show up, but they were fewer in number compared to last year’s event.   On one hand we're seeing what the people think is important.  On the other hand we're seeing what the leadership thinks is important.  Canada to expedite nation building projects to counter Trump.

Denmark: Denmark’s parliament recently adopted a law raising the retirement age to 70 by 2040. It is currently at 67, will rise to 68 in 2030 and 69 in 2035. The age 70 retirement applies to those born after December 31, 1970.

European Union: This made us wonder about the retirement ages in some other EU nations: 

1. France—starts at age 64. It was 62 until the law was changed in 2023.
2. Germany—standard age is 63 for workers who have paid into the system for 45 years. Statutory retirement age is gradually increasing to 67 by 2031 for those born 1964 or later.
3. Hungary—With 20 years of service, pension can start at age 65.
4. Italy—standard pension starts at age 67.
5. Portugal—standard pension starts at age 66 and 7 months.
6. Spain—standard pension starts at age 66 years and 8 months. By 2027, it will be age 67. Sweden—earliest age to apply for any benefits is 63.
7. United Kingdom—age 66 for those born between October 6, 1954 and April 5, 1960; gradual increases after that based on birth date.

Lying is Their Stock in Trade

I you were to eliminate all the lies of commission and omission, half truths, logical fallacies,  projection, misdirection, and diversions from Democrat speech what would you get?  Blessed silence.  As it is, if a Democrat says the sky is blue, you would be wise to step outside and look. These are some examples of all the lies repeatedly told by Democrats: 

• Timeline re: Biden’s cancer diagnosis.
• Biden is as sharp as a tack although we saw and heard otherwise.
•  Russia collision hoax (which would not have gotten as bad as it did had then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions had a spine).
• COVID: * Did not come from a Communist China lab leak—they knew at the time that it did.

1. Masks are effective—only if you are ugly.
2. Six feet distance — the virus knew the difference between 5’11” and 6’.
3. Close small businesses, but keep the large ones open.
4. Close schools — uneducated people are better to control.
5. Church and synagogues to stay closed to avoid interactions — BLM riots are okay. The virus knows not to infect anyone at a BLM riot, especially if there is looting and firebombs.

•  Speaking of riots, during the 2020 “Summer of Love” riots, Democrats and the legacy media (but we repeat ourselves) called them “mostly peaceful.”
• Hunter’s laptop (that the FBI had already authenticated as his) was Russia misinformation.
• Election integrity equals voter suppression or brings back Jim Crow laws.
• “Very fine people” crap that Donald Trump NEVER said about the Neo-Nazis!
• Look at the lies Democrats said about now-Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearings. However, you must wonder why comparably speaking these same Democrats hardly made a whimper during Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation hearing. 

Western Society Will Be Destroyed Without a Commitment to Truth - American institutions are suffering from a collapse in public support. Among the institutions worst affected are government, the press and education. One could be forgiven for believing that government must be the most important, given its pervasiveness in our lives and its law enforcement powers; followed by the media, which -- of late -- does the government's bidding; and then perhaps education...............

If Democrats Had the Truth on Their Side They Wouldn’t Have to Lie All the Time - Democrats' Party pearl-clutchers, perverts, and activists pretended to be upset last week over the idea that we’re all going to die. The Big Beautiful Bill That Isn't

There's is one overwhelming quality of the Republican party. The ability to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. There's a reason they're called "the stupid party", they earned it.

I'm going to be honest here, clarity over this budget is difficult to grasp.  However, No matter what anyone says, I do know it will increase spending, increase the nation's debt limit, and the national debt. 

Another thing that's clear is that old axiom, "Don't tax you, don't tax me.  Tax that fellow behind the tree", mentality is in play here, only it's "Don't cut me, don't cut you.  Cut that man behind the tree".  Especially if SALT is involved....both parties..... which is addressed below. 

Both parties are fighting to keep their wedge of the pie, few of them will support the number one solution, which is, massive cuts across the board, including Medicaid, which apparently has now become untouchable.

My grandfather, a farmer and coal miner,  was one of the world's great economists.  He said if you spend more than you make, you'll go broke.  Beyond that, there's much here that seems irrational, and confusing to me, so, here are the articles I've gathered, both pro and con going back to when the bill was first introduced in the House to lend a bit of history to this piece, not necessarily in chronological order.   So, peruse them and decide for yourself if you'd vote for it. 

 Personally, I wouldn't, I don't see a thing that addresses what should be the number one issue for all the members of Congress and the Administration.   Paying off the national debt, which is possible, all it takes is guts.  What I am in favor of is a budget battle and a government shut down to force major cuts in spending, and major cuts in the size of government.  

What’s in Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’?The House passed the legislation in a 215–214 vote.  House Republicans passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act to implement President Donald Trump’s agenda in an early morning session on May 22. The legislative package, totaling more than 1,000 pages, encompasses provisions that touch almost every area of federal policy and spending, ranging from tax cuts to Medicaid to the border. Though it makes spending cuts across several sectors of the federal government, the Congressional Budget Office has projected the bill would add $3.8 trillion to the deficit over 10 years.....

Republican Holdouts on the Big, Beautiful Bill: Politics at its worst  May 22, 2025 - Very soon, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) will bring the Big, Beautiful reconciliation bill to the floor for a full House vote before it heads to the Senate for more tinkering. As of now, several Republican members of the House of Representatives have said they would vote against the bill as it is currently written.  Generally, the House Republicans who oppose the bill fall into two camps: House Freedom Caucus members and Republicans in deep blue states.

 

Who are we protecting? May 22, 2025 - Among the many aspects of President Trump's attempt to reverse decades of "free trade" policy, which was a cynical label used to disguise the deliberate hollowing out of American manufacturing, one of the most important has been scarcely remarked.  Critics of Trump's efforts to correct that disastrous policy delight in mocking his new direction as "protectionist," as if that were automatically a bad thing. Yet even the most avid advocates of so-called "free trade" have supported selective protectionism. Alexander Hamilton (1755-1804), the most "free trade" oriented of the Founding Fathers, wrote of the benefits of protecting "infant industries." The idea was to shield certain industries from foreign competition until they could gain their footing and grow strong enough to compete globally. Those being protected were American workers, the same group Trump is now trying to benefit...........

Election 2028: Democrats Have a Lot of Baggage, Part I

We have baggage, we have baggage, we have loads and loads of baggage. Dear (Nominee to be named) would you be so kind and raise my taxes, bring immigrants who hate me to be my neighbors, increase regulations, end the Constitution, and censor the ones I hate best. 

Michael Moore has been quoted as saying, “I am the center. I am the mainstream now of the Democratic Party”.   So, the Democrat election strategy will be rude, crude, and stupid?  What could possibly go wrong? 

Since Bakke, the experiment has gone horribly wrong. We got riots, we got legalized theft, we got reparations, we got cities burning, we got DEI, we got streets telling us how much BLM. Now we’ve got a lovely new statue in Times Square. And how did Americans of any color prosper from all that? No one did. No one improved, no one produced anything of value, and no recipient of this largess managed to elevate not only their own lives, but the lives of others. Instead the entire tenor of the country got dumbed down and became incompetent. And because it is impossible for some people to change for the better, we got Crockett et al, mouthy, angry, and ready to body slam.  J.C Raines

New York is under the total control of the Democrat party, and New Yorkers are so pleased with their performance, they're fleeing the state and taking $14 billion dollars with them.

 

The black vote was almost monolithic when it came to elections.  All  for the Democrat party, and for years, but now those who voted for Trump are telling Van Jones they'd do it again.  Without reservations. 

 

In California the vote for leftists is automatic, and universal.  In one county:

 

73.2% of Marin voters actually thought that John Kerry was fit to lead the country. In 2008, unsurprisingly Obama won by 77.77 percent, the same percentage that voted for Hillary in 2016. However, in 2020 and 2024—both of which were elections with mail-in ballots only, Marin went stratospherically to the left: Biden got 82% of Marin’s votes in 2020 and Kamala got 80.6% of the votes in 2024............

 

And that's the type of incompetence they're voting for in Marin County.  And what have they discovered.   The Democrats are just as incompetent as conservatives keep saying they are.  Now, they're getting what they deserve....good and hard.  

 

California is is debt for spending vast amounts state Medicaid dollars on homeless housing, and he's not in jail, imagine that, and he's getting support for a run at the Demoncrat nomination for President in 2028.   Apparently he thinks America should look like California, while being the world's fourth largest economy, ....." with a GDP of more than $4.1 trillion, could be on the brink of insolvency."   And Californians haven't figured out these insane policies Newsom promotes are at fault?  But it won't matter, they would vote for these nitwits all over again.   Imagine that!  Schadenfreude.

 

Joe Biden was completely lost for four years, and the Democrats and their myrmidons in the media knew it.   Yet the heaped scorn on anyone who declared otherwise. It was dereliction of duty at the highest level.

 

Anyone with no agenda and half a brain knew the latter and has known since Biden first ran for president. And all indications are that his cancer developed over time. So, where was the Surgeon General for the last four years? Where was the cabinet? What did they know and when did they know it? And who was running the country while Biden was sleepwalking through the presidency?

Joe Biden is as sharp as a tack, the economy under his administration was booming, and any increases in your bills is an illusion.   Liz Chaney was a paragon of integrity rising above politics,  and Republicans are weird, because America needs as many illegal immigrants as possible, and if you disagree you're a bigot.   Trade with China is good because it keep their slaves-labor factories open.
