Events From Around the Nation and the World

By Robin Itzler

Editor's Note:  This is one of the commentaries selected from Robin's weekly newsletter Patriot Neighbors.  Any cartoons will have been added by me.  If you wish to get the full edition, E-mail her at PatriotNeighbors@yahoo.com to get on her list, it's free.

Events from around the nation:

California: If you are looking for the top 250 places to live in the United States, click here. Not one California city made it to the top 100 while Texas had 28 cities. Until California elects a Republican governor and has a Republican legislature, the state will continue to lead on all the wrong lists.

Climate Unchanged:  On March 25, 1982 — that’s 43 years ago — Dan Rather on the CBS Evening News said that if the United States didn’t stop burning ancient carbon, 25 percent of Florida would soon be underwater. We could easily predict other doomsday climate predictions over the last century, but why waste our time.

Texas: The state legislature just passed and Governor Greg Abbott said he will sign a bill that requires all public elementary or secondary schools to “display in a conspicuous place in each classroom of the school a durable poster or framed copy of the Ten Commandments” - and must be in English.

Lawfare: Democrats appointed more than 90 percent of the judges who are blocking President Trump’s America First agenda. Consider the injunctions against three past presidents who deported illegal aliens:

Bill Clinton 12.3 MILLION deportations 0 injunctions
George W. Bush 10.3 MILLION deportations 0 injunctions
Barack Obama 05.3 MILLION deportations 0 injunctions
Donald Trump 100,000 deportations 30+ injunctions

Are Republicans Surging for 2026?

Based on the 2024 election, Democrats should have a very difficult time in the 2026 midterm … but that assumes Congressional Republicans do more than hold hearings and chat on Fox New.

In 2024, 435 counties trended more Democratic while 2,678 moved more Republican. New York Democrat Representative Ritchie Torres (who supports Israel and has gone against his party on other issues) told the New York Times:

“We could be entering a world where the greatest predictor of voting behavior is no longer race. Donald Trump’s greatest achievement — his greatest electoral achievement — lies not in breaking the blue wall in the industrial Midwest, but in beginning to break the blue walls in states like New York, and in counties like the Bronx.”

Events From Around the Globe

Canada: More than 56,000 Canadians of all faiths recently rallied in Toronto for Israel in the second annual “Walk for Israel.” Wherever you looked, there were Canadian and Israeli flags. You would have expected the meshuggah pro-Hamas crowd to show up, but they were fewer in number compared to last year’s event.   On one hand we're seeing what the people think is important.  On the other hand we're seeing what the leadership thinks is important.  Canada to expedite nation building projects to counter Trump.

Denmark: Denmark’s parliament recently adopted a law raising the retirement age to 70 by 2040. It is currently at 67, will rise to 68 in 2030 and 69 in 2035. The age 70 retirement applies to those born after December 31, 1970.

European Union: This made us wonder about the retirement ages in some other EU nations:

  1. France—starts at age 64. It was 62 until the law was changed in 2023.
  2. Germany—standard age is 63 for workers who have paid into the system for 45 years. Statutory retirement age is gradually increasing to 67 by 2031 for those born 1964 or later.
  3. Hungary—With 20 years of service, pension can start at age 65.
  4. Italy—standard pension starts at age 67.
  5. Portugal—standard pension starts at age 66 and 7 months.
  6. Spain—standard pension starts at age 66 years and 8 months. By 2027, it will be age 67. Sweden—earliest age to apply for any benefits is 63.
  7. United Kingdom—age 66 for those born between October 6, 1954 and April 5, 1960; gradual increases after that based on birth date.

Gaza:  Gaza is one of the most benighted places on Earth,  likely the most benighted. It has no real educational system; its schools are devoted to propagating bigotry. It has virtually no economy; it is a society that lives on international welfare. It is primitive in all the ways liberals say they hate–viciously misogynistic, murderous toward homosexuals, prone to torture political opponents to death. It is the most backward theocracy on Earth.

Netherlands:  Dutch elections - The BBC reports, The Dutch government has collapsed after Geert Wilders withdrew his far-right party from the governing coalition following a row over migration. In the European context, “far-right” merely means that the political party opposes mass immigration. The collapse of the Dutch coalition government is yet another in an endless stream of examples of the phenomena that voters prefer conservative government but can’t ever seem to get it............

Nigeria: Nigerian bloodbath Where is the world’s outrage? More than 60,000 CHRISTIANS in Nigeria have been murdered in cold blood by Islamic terrorists and the media is not even whispering about this genocide. Christian persecution is happening in many nations in Africa and Asia. It’s happening in Syria, which is why we remain very disappointed that President Trump met with its Al Queda president. The world is silent as Christians are being slaughtered

Poland:  Nawrocki’s election continues the winning global run of conservative leaders intent on protecting their national identities, borders, and values. With the close election over and Poland’s electoral map somewhat split like in the United States, the Left is now warning against “polarization” and calling for “building bridges,” a need they never identified during the past 18 months of the Tusk government..............

South Africa: Where is the world’s outrage? The number of white Christian South Africans murdered or brutally attacked continues to rise. Julius Malema leads the Economic Freedom Fighters, the third largest political party in South Afrida. At rallies, Malema repeatedly calls out “Kill the Boer!” Rally attendees echo back, “Kill the Boer!” It’s reported that thousands of whites, particularly farmers and their families, have been brutally attacked or murdered solely because they are white Christians! The world is silent as Christians are being slaughtered.
