As we watch this Russo/Ukrainian War insanity play out we really need to understand, this is Europe's problem, and let them fix it or not, and "not" more likely what will happen. Europe isn't a nation, the EU didn't make it truly united, they just created a tyrannous administrative state that's irrational. But there's no real consensus in Europe about Russia. True, Russia threatened Finland and Sweden if they joined NATO there would be consequences, but after they joined what did Putin do? Nothing.
These nations do not share a common vision. As example, this week the "Slovak parliament passed a resolution calling on the government not to support new sanctions against Russia. The initiative was led by the Slovak National Party, a junior member of the governing coalition. Earlier this week, the Slovak president rejected a petition calling for a referendum on lifting sanctions against Russia." And that's a pattern that plays out all over Europe. One thing that's happened is Germany sent 5000 troops to one of the Baltic nations in their support. That was not a NATO operation, it was a German operation. Why is that important? Since the end of WWII Europe wanted to keep Germany's military under control, and now Putin has made that impossible.
It's also clear neither Russia or Ukraine wants peace, and this war has changed all the rules of warfare. Now we know Russia is not the military might everyone thought they were, and now drones are the dominating battlefield force, and that's only going to expand, and it will make smaller nations more capable of defending themselves.
You would think with the continuing pressure Taiwan gets from the CCP there would be a harmonious and binding vision among Taiwan's leadership, and you'd be wrong. The infighting is never ending there and it's impacting their ability to "bolster military spending and has prompted Chinese military and economic retaliation, which could eventually imperil U.S. trade and arms deals".
Leftists in Israel have undermined effective defense of their nation for decades with support of the insane "two state" solution. But it appears reality is reaching its pinnacle even for them. It turns out Israeli support for the two state solution plummets.
Sometimes there are real schadenfreude moments in the news. Conservative thought Jen Psaki was not the brightest bulb in the box, and when she went to MSNBC to share her vast intellect and understanding of how the world should work, conservatives just chuckled, expecting failure, and she's exceeded conservative expectations. Psaki's show has been a huge flop, and it gets better all the time as now the Democrats are crawling out of the woodwork to whisper Karine Jean-Pierre was 'incompetent. So incompetent even The View doesn't want her. How bad is that?
I'm having some computer issues again, but, today I have three commentaries of my own and a thought for the day, followed by sixteen commentaries by others and one link with multiple articles, and the six permanent links.
Have a great weekend.
