From Around the Nation and The World

By Robin Itzler

Events from around the nation:

US Senate:  On April 9, 2025, the House passed NORRA: No Rogue Rulings Act; H.R. 1526. It was received in the Senate THE NEXT DAY and read twice and then referred to the Committee on the Judiciary. Why hasn’t the Senate acted on this bill that would stop rogue judges?

Schools Note Teaching American Values:  If you want to know why there were so many idiots at the “No Kings Day” protest (since the United States does not have a king), consider the 2022 National Assessment of Educational Progress reports (and we should assume things have gotten worse):

· Only nine states and Washington, D.C. require one year of U.S. government or civics.;
· Thirty states require a half-year of U.S. government or civics.
· Remaining 11 states have NO requirement.
· Only 13 percent of eighth graders are proficient in U.S. history. Of that number, just 22 percent are proficient in civics.
· Less than half of surveyed adults could name the three branches of government.
· One in four surveyed adults couldn’t even name ONE branch.
· Less than half the surveyed adults knew that a 5:4 Supreme Court ruling becomes the law of the land.

San Francisco:  Anyone who has visited the City by the Bay pre-2016, usually stopped at world famous Fisherman’s Wharf. It was a unique place with restaurants, tours to Alcatraz, souvenir shops, museums, sea lions, cruise ships and the sounds of multiple languages as tourists always walked along the scenic wharf or to nearby Ghirardelli Square.  Then insane wokeness overtook this once beautiful city as it has in many blue cities.

Events from around the globe

Great Britain: According to an analysis by The Telegraph newspaper based on data from the most recent census, 48 percent of social housing properties in London are reportedly occupied by families with a migrant head of household. Nationally, 19 percent of migrants live in social housing. The analysis says that the migrants jumped ahead of native-born Britons.

Germany: Last week, leftists burned 19 Amazon delivery vans that were parked in a private Amazon compound and 17 state-run Deutsche Telekom vans in Lichtenberg and Britz, neighboring cities. This happened as Amazon celebrated the opening of its new corporate headquarters in Berlin where 3,000 people will be employed. The leftist group posted online the usual asinine rhetoric as to why they hate successful global organizations.

Europe: The following countries have a tourist tax: France, Germany, Greece. Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, and United Kingdom. They say the tax is to make sure tourists don’t overwhelm popular sites and landmarks.
