The Flesh-Eating Screwworm Will Enrich America

In a stunning milestone for diversity, the first flesh-eating screwworm infested human entered the United States from either Guatemala, El Salvador or some other downtrodden country.

The widely misunderstood ‘New World Screwworm Fly’ is a mostly peaceful parasite whose females lay eggs in open wounds and their larvae, referred to intolerantly by some as ‘maggots’, then use their sharp mouth hooks to eat their way through the host, while feeding on his tissues in what some DEI experts are calling a pointed critique of rapacious capitalism.

The United States had eradicated the screwworm fly after WWII, reducing the nation’s fabulous diversity of flesh-eating parasites, until open borders with Latin America, where this intriguing fly still coexists with the indigenous population, welcomed its return to our shores.

America’s imperialist boycott of the People’s Republic of Cuba, where screwworm infestations are endemic and there are thousands of cases in animals each year, delayed the inevitable remigration but ongoing travel from countries with Cuban-backed guerrilla movements helped hasten the first triumphant return of the first human infested with screwworms to the U.S.

Several months ago, the USDA had intolerantly blocked cattle imports from Mexico after screwworms were detected in that country, but the screwworm, like so many of the migrants and refugees crossing our border in search of a better life, refused to let our racist policies stop it from living its American Dream by coming to our country and laying eggs inside of us.

Some ‘MAGA’ types and radical right wingers are railing against the prospect of the severe pain, swelling fever and secondary infections caused by the highly sensitive flesh-eating parasite, but their crude stereotyping of this latest migrant to cross our border shows their hateful ignorance.

So many of us have forgotten that our ancestors also came here with a dream to lay eggs inside unwary mammals. They faced intolerance because of their flesh-eating customs until society became more tolerant of their ways. And then they forgot their own struggles to fit in. So it’s our duty to extend our hand (and other available body parts) in welcome to these newest arrivals.

Yes, there are certain risks in taking the screwworm to our bosom and integrating her into our society, but those are the same risks which we took when we opened our doors to the world. But the greater the risk, the greater the reward. The future of America will not come from here, but from out there. And we must not forget that today’s hungry screwworm is tomorrow’s CEO.

There are some who are afraid, but being infected by flesh-eating parasites is the price we pay for diversity. We want to live in cities with dozens of ethnic cuisines and people who mow our lawns for less than the price of a Venti Matcha Latte at Starbucks, but we can’t have that without also accepting the terrorist bombings, machete beheadings and horrifying parasitic infestations.

The best way to deal with the screwworm is not to resist it, but to welcome it into our hearts (or hopefully less vital organs), to learn about its unique traditions and non-judgementally resettle it in vulnerable communities around the country. The screwworm is just the latest immigrant to burrow into the body politics of our nation and once we’ve paid the price, we will be better for it.

Elected officials and experts should be dispatched to reassure (and shame) the public out of any irrational prejudices it may have over being devoured from the inside by invasive freeloaders. PBS should feature documentaries about how well and deeply screwworms are integrating into local communities in communities and states we don’t live and couldn’t be paid to set foot into.

And any acts of intolerance against screwworms must be met with immediate documentaries.

Since the screwworms are used to eating flesh, there may be some initial unpleasantness, but it is nothing that we cannot overcome if we make the conscious choice to sacrifice someone else’s children or livestock on the altar of diversity. Anything else would be a betrayal of our most deeply held values to let our fear for our tender flesh stand in the way of social justice.

Like so many refugees, the screwworms come from a troubled part of the world. They have been the victims of generations of imperialistic programs funded by American taxpayers to eradicate them. Their resentments are understandable. That is why we must stand with the screwworms and for the screwworms (but preferably not too close to the screwworms) so they can live free from fear of persecution in even the reddest state and vote for the Democrats.

With 300 screwworm larvae hatching from one egg, the flesh-eating parasites will soon form an invincible bloc that can turn every state into California in under a year. All we have to do is make sure that hundreds of mail-in ballots are promptly directed to whichever host they have infested.

And we really don’t need to worry. Much.

Screwworm infections in humans are mostly non-fatal (with the exception of a gentleman in Costa Rica last year) because the screwworms are not here to kill us, only feed off us and use us to nurture whole families of flesh eating parasites who will only wipe us out when they reach sufficient numbers to take over America. Until then, we have almost nothing to worry about except the occasional radicalized ‘lone wolf’ screwworms who will prematurely try to eat us.

And there is so much we can learn from the screwworms.

When America eradicated the screwworm (just like it tried to eradicate anyone who was at all ‘different’), we lost a vital part of our ecosystem. Instead of listening to nature, we tried to control it only to discover that Mother Earth always finds a way to overcome our western patriarchal science. Now we have the opportunity to atone for our crimes against the screwworm. This time instead of trying to wipe out the screwworm, we can learn from the screwworm how to live in harmony with the natural world. By embracing ecological diversity, we can find inner peace.

And also get in touch with our inner parasites.

We have much in common with the screwworm. Like us, screwworms love their children and try to find the best possible home for them whether it’s an Ivy League college or a ghastly wound, and they stay there until they exit with a PhD in gender studies twenty years later. Like us, screwworms form a parasitic relationship with the taxpaying host and can’t be stopped from eating him alive through any means short of sharp pliers or government defunding.

Also, like us, the only way to defeat the screwworm is to drop large numbers of sterile males to interfere with their reproductive cycle by telling them that children are bad for the planet.

The arrival of the first human infested by screwworms has reopened debate about the virtue of open borders or border security. Some say that if we had secure borders, we wouldn’t have to worry about cartels or flesh-eating parasites, but such thinking is woefully shortsighted.

The future begins with each of us. We must lower our walls, open our doors and welcome our new neighbours to our shores. And one day, as we pass our neighbour, the screwworm, and the screwworm’s daughter, who runs a government nonprofit for screwworms, and the screwworm’s 300 sons who are all on welfare, we can be proud of ourselves, our ethics and our humanism.

In this way, the flesh-eating parasite will become our friend, the flesh-eating parasite.

Each step forward that we take, each screwworm with a useless degree, each screwworm on TV and each screwworm in the school that our sons and daughters attend is a triumph for our deepest values and ideals. They remind us that our civilization, our cultural heritage and our lives are worth nothing if they are not put at the service of our fellow screwworms.

Today a screwworm applies for refugee status. Tomorrow a screwworm will be President.

DEI Detribalization

The great objective of DEI was to tribalize our institutions, recruiting government and corporate employees into affinity groups based on their race, sex, sexuality and other factors, and then defining institutional goals around the ‘right’ tribal mix through selective hiring and promotions.The complete inversion of civil rights, from race-neutral to race-conscious, also transformed the intended purpose of government and all lesser institutions, from tribal neutrality to tribal partisanship, and it was impossible to achieve this without tribalizing government.

Government and other institutions stopped being merit-based or democratic, and came to reflect the tribal coalition politics that had come to define the Democratic Party’s urban machines. Tammany Hall’s old corrupt apportionment of government offices based on political favors was smoothly supplemented with racial and ethnic coalition quotas in major cities.

The old corrupt system that traded votes for jobs, bloc votes for political influence, was layered over with the language of civil rights and academic verbiage to make handing out jobs based on quotas seem progressive rather than the worst kind of machine politics progressives once decried. Graft became diversity. Networks of community groups swapping votes for money and jobs stopped being criminal and was celebrated as a step forward for those same machines.

Tribalized blocs were embedded not only in elected government but within the bureaucracies whose employees became activists, promoting and rewarding ‘their own kind’ to broker votes. The shakedown politics of Jesse Jackson’s PUSH movement and imitators like Al Sharpton began the process of embedding the same system within major corporations. Corporate lobbying from Comcast’s NBC deal to Philip Morris’ tobacco business to Enron’s shady finances came to depend on recruiting some of those same minority organizations to defend them.

Corporate DEI finished the job by modeling government and university systems with top DEI officers and affinity groups that employees were strongly encouraged to join for the sake of their careers. Soon corporate life had become equally tribalized with blocs of employees that saw it as their mission to defend and promote members of the same group above their stated jobs.

That is why it’s not enough to kill DEI, to tear it out of governments and universities, and to closely scrutinize corporate misuse of DEI, but we must ‘detribalize’ the system.

As we have already seen in Iraq and Afghanistan, that is no easy job. It’s a good deal easier to tribalize a society, to make people see themselves foremost in terms of clan and tribe, and to advance those interests above those of the larger society, than to convince them to pull together.

In a few generations, Democrats largely reversed the premises of the American Experiment and reasserted the tribal norm in most of the rest of the world. They bolstered this destruction of Americanism with ideological indoctrination through the media, the entertainment industry and academia, through government regulations, workplace training and an entire workplace culture.

Outlawing DEI and treating its presence in as many workplaces as possible as a civil rights violation is vital, but it is vital to push back against the tribal culture that it has created.

The civil rights movement was correct in arguing that it was difficult to police discrimination. Getting rid of official DEI will not change the reality that an entire corporate culture now exists whose leaders have been indoctrinated with DEI, that finding an HR office untainted by DEI in any major institution is all but impossible and that a generation of workers was taught that sticking to their own kind and showing hostility to white people in the workplace was a virtue.

Even while lecturing us about “systemic racism”, wokeness created an actual systemic racism.

DEI bans are being met with institutional resistance as government offices, universities and corporations change those three letters to some others while changing absolutely nothing else. After the Supreme Court banned racial discrimination in college admissions, universities quickly turned to ‘legal’ ways to discriminate by finding ways to get the same admissions numbers using other factors that would not technically put them in violation of lawsuits and court orders.

Expect universities as well as corporations to turn to some of these methods to lock in DEI.

The Justice Department as well as state enforcement will have to be alert to evidence of stealth DEI and stealth metrics being adopted to intentionally discriminate against ‘unfavored’ groups.

And Americans will need to be ‘detribalized’. While most Americans are not bigoted, a sizable minority, especially among college graduates, have been taught that discrimination is praiseworthy, and once a vice comes to be seen as a virtue, and a moral goal that ought to be pursued regardless of rules and regulations, many will continue to covertly discriminate.

In the larger sense we will need to undo the original sin of the civil rights movement which was corrupted by later leaders into believing that the government needed to tribalize to fight racism.

Tribalism over merit, no matter whether it’s dressed up in progressive colors, as affirmative action did, or reparations for past wrongs, is racist and makes it impossible to end racism. Tribalism can only advance the interests of a certain group and while there are settings where tribalism is natural and healthy, tribalism when applied to larger institutions is corrosive.

The world is filled with nations that apportion jobs, housing and government positions based on tribe and clan in the name of social harmony. And those places are always one bad day away from riots, civil wars and genocide. That is not what we want the United States to be.

Tribal neutrality would return us to the original liberal bargain. Under tribal neutrality, government would cease to be partial to any group, it would instead maintain public spaces as a neutral space in which no one would be prioritized and therefore no one would be discriminated against. Much as France’s Laïcité secularism separated religion and state, America needs an identity ‘secularism’ that would prevent any mixing of personal identity and position.

Americans have already seen that the alternative to government tribal neutrality is tribal warfare.

LA’s Political Bosses Are On Fire

The ashes of the most destructive fire in Los Angeles history have settled, but a new wildfire is burning through the ranks of the elected and unelected officials who let the disaster happen.

In a truly historic event in which all sorts of glass ceilings were no doubt broken, the first black female mayor of Los Angeles fired the first lesbian fire chief for not warning her that there would be heavy winds before she set off on a trip to Africa that she had promised she wouldn’t go on.

Former Fire Chief Kristin Crowley, a paramedic like the other two lesbians also named Kirsten running the LAFD, appealed to the Los Angeles City Council leading to a historic diversity face-off between an incompetent black woman and an incompetent white lesbian.

City Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson, a former Bass ally and, like her, a former community organizer, initially rejected the appeal. Harris-Dawson was hardly an objective observer since he was the one who had to declare an emergency because LA Deputy Mayor Brian Williams, another Bass ally, was being investigated by the FBI for making bomb threats.

It took Harris-Dawson six hours to declare a state of emergency. Both Bass and Harris-Dawson dismissed the delay, claiming that declaring an emergency actually made no difference at all.

In the City Council showdown, Bass and her allies blamed Crowley for not warning her about the heavy Santa Ana winds even though every local already knows about them and they had been widely covered in the media before the mayor decided to fly off to Ghana. Additionally they complained that Crowley had sent 1,000 firefighters home. According to Crowley, there was no money and no available engines for them to operate because of funding cuts by Bass.

Most damningly though, the Los Angeles City Stentorians, an association of black firefighters, popped up to accuse Crowley of racism, claiming that firefighters were yelling racial slurs while fighting the Palisades fire. This entirely plausible set of events was further backed up with “reports of white firefighters circulating MAGA hats, erecting Trump shrines in stations”.

The allegations against Crowley running a racist MAGA fire department full of Trump shrines where firefighters fight fires by shouting racial slurs at them were signed on to by the local NAACP and other Bass allies. And that was it for the LAFD’s first lesbian fire chief.

It may be acceptable to let significant parts of Los Angeles catch fire, but it is never allowable to let firefighters wear MAGA hats.

The first lesbian fire chief lost the support of black councilmembers but held on to the support of the (probably) first Chinese LAFD union head Chung Ho. Only the two more moderate city council members, including the ‘third latina to serve on the city council’, voted to reinstate Crowley who has now been replaced by the second latino fire chief in what is a historic event.

The DEI circular firing squad is mostly moot because everyone in the identity politics mess had failed on the most basic level to deal with a massive catastrophe. Text messages involving Crowley showed that the city did not move to Level 1 activation until the next morning.

Mayor Karen Bass however deleted her text messages just in time for the roughly four investigations into the devastating fires. According to the city’s lawyer, the deletions were automatic and she was not obligated to keep her text messages because they were not made for the “purpose of preserving its informational content for future reference.”

Messages from her aides however showed that they received warnings about the winds including a big red block warning of “critical fire conditions.” According to Bass, who had promised not to even leave the country, the warnings “didn’t reach that level to me, that something terrible could happen, and maybe you shouldn’t have gone on the trip.”

Her current 28-year-old deputy mayor, a former spokesman urgently promoted to deputy mayor on account of not yet being raided by the FBI for sending in bomb threats, argued, “that is not a warning of disaster. That sends the opposite message.”

While multiple investigations continue of those fires, with investigators claiming last month that they have over 235 leads, but no actual answers there’s also an investigation of a new fire which they suspect was arson that was also mishandled by the LAFD. The suspicions for those fires however revolve around New Year’s Eve fireworks and “unauthorized camping” which is locally a term for the homeless encampments unleashed by the Democrat political machine.

Without waiting for the evidence to be finalized, Los Angeles County sued Southern California Edison: the politically connected power company many are blaming for the disaster. But there’s also reason to believe that the fires may have involved the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power which was supposed to replace power lines, but was unable to do so because it was the location of 183 bushes of an endangered weed known as milkvetch which blooms after fires.

The fires are good for the milkvetch and environmentalists and bad for everyone else.

The DWP is also being sued for low water levels under its historic first latina head Janisse Quinones set to make $750,000 a year. That salary, already described as “eye-popping” will be further augmented by DWP spending another $700,000 to provide her with personal security after reported ‘threats’ due to parts of LA burning down. It would have only cost $130,000 to fix a crucial reservoir, but instead DWP will have spent more than ten times that on its boss.

While families who lost it all are still picking up the pieces, LAPD resources were diverted to protect Quinones, Crowley and assorted other public officials. Now the DWP boss will have her own Pinkerton secret service protecting her historic nature and even more historic salary.

That is what ‘equity’ looks like.

While the multiple federal, state and local investigations into the disaster continue, it’s as of yet not entirely clear which element of the state, county, and city’s historic wokeness was the cause of the historic fires, but what is clear is that every historic leader in the loop failed badly. And rather than admit fault, they have taken to blaming each other and crying that they’re the victims of ‘hate’ before getting back to business as usual without changing a single thing.

That’s what a historically corrupt California looks like.

Facebook, Google, et al., And DEI: Let's Not Forget Their Insufferable Sanctimony

A few days ago, Google announced that it had abandoned its targets for “diversity, equity and inclusion” for its workforce. Here is the February 5 New York Times article covering the announcement. According to the Times, Google attributed the change of policy to its need “as a federal contractor . . . to comply with President Trump’s executive orders opposing diversity, equity and inclusion policies.” Google’s announcement came about a month after Facebook parent Meta had (formally) made the same change of policy. (See CNBC’s January 10 piece here covering the Meta announcement.). Google and Facebook are now two leaders in what has become a full-on parade of corporate giants making the same sudden 180 degree reversal of what had previously been broadcast as fundamental corporate policy. Among others in this group are Amazon, Goldman Sachs, McDonald’s, and even Disney.

Was the commitment to DEI of Corporate America, and particularly of the tech giants, really this shallow, that they would all reverse course completely and suddenly and in unison and without a peep of objection?

The truth is that these companies are all breathing a huge sigh of relief at having finally been let off the DEI hook. Their DEI promises were always a ludicrous fantasy. And they were all quickly running into an impossible situation where the promises they had made could not be continued.

Meanwhile DEI had become an increasingly militant and desperate racial spoils regime. As further progress toward its goals became less and less possible, maintaining the regime inevitably required ever more enforced agreement and silencing of dissent. The end of this mess is something we should all welcome. And I do welcome its end, which I certainly hope is permanent.

But I can’t just let the whole thing go as if it had never happened. We have all been subjected to a decade and more of insufferable moral preening from these people claiming to be our betters. Before moving on, it is appropriate to remind ourselves — and them — of some of the endless sanctimony, and of the hypocrisy that it covered.

I previously had two posts — this one in June 2020, and this one in September 2021 — reporting on the DEI promises of the big tech firms. The 2020 post provided some of the history:

[I]n the Spring of 2014, Jesse Jackson made the rounds of the annual meetings of many of the [big tech] companies; and suddenly the dominoes all quickly fell. Essentially all of these companies began releasing annual “diversity reports” starting in mid-2014.

And thus, starting in 2014, we have annual versions of these “diversity reports” for each of the tech giants. For today, let’s focus on Facebook and Google.

Facebook’s initial Report in 2014, “Building a More Diverse Facebook,” was not a long document, just a few pages. But it began with the obligatory moral sanctimony:

At Facebook, diversity is essential to achieving our mission. We build products to connect the world, and this means we need a team that understands and reflects many different communities, backgrounds and cultures. Research also shows that diverse teams are better at solving complex problems and enjoy more dynamic workplaces. So at Facebook we’re serious about building a workplace that reflects a broad range of experience, thought, geography, age, background, gender, sexual orientation, language, culture and many other characteristics.

So OK, what was the percentage of blacks in the tech portion of the workforce? From a chart toward the end of the document, the figure is (drumroll!!!) 1%.

Fast forward seven years to 2021. Here is now the eighth version of Facebook’s Report. The sanctimony of course continues. Example:

Connecting the world takes people with different backgrounds and points of view to build products that work better for everyone. This means building a workforce that reflects the diversity of the people we serve.

And the percent of black workers in tech? Again, you will need to go to a chart at the end of the document. The answer is: 2.1%.

The 2022 version of the Facebook diversity Report seems to be suddenly reduced in size. Might that indicate that something is going on? Looking through the charts at the end, we find that the percent of black workers in the tech area is now up to all of 2.4%.

In 2023, as you may recall, Facebook underwent a first-time downsizing. According to StockAnalysis.com, total employment at Meta Platforms, Inc. went from 86,482 on December 31, 2022 to 67,317 on December 31, 2023. If this was like all other corporate downsizings, they obviously looked to eliminate first the unproductive employees and make-work jobs.

And suddenly, I can’t find any more annual diversity reports for Facebook for 2023 and 2024! If any reader can find them, kindly provide a link. Although Facebook only formally announced the end to its DEI regime in January 2025, it could well be that they had quietly and surreptitiously begun burying it a couple of years ago. Perhaps you are now starting to understand why Mark Zuckerberg was so quick to join President Trump in calling an end to the DEI regime.

Over at Google, they at least continued the diversity reports, and in the same format, through 2024 (although I would not expect to see another for 2025). There is plenty of swearing allegiance and loyalty to the woke DEI project. As a random example, this is from the intro to the 2020 Report:

Google has made progress in several areas of hiring and retaining talented professionals from underrepresented groups. We also continued our work to understand the identities, intersectionalities, and experiences of Googlers worldwide. More broadly, we made a wide array of investments to strengthen the diverse communities both within and outside Google. Looking forward, we will continue to use data-informed efforts to support diversity, equity and inclusion as we grow and scale . . . .

Google’s 2024 Report helpfully includes charts that track changes in the data by year since the initial Report in 2014. To find how the percent of black workers in tech jobs has changed over the years, you will need to go to a chart deeply buried on page 78 of the document. The answer is that that percent has gone from 1.5% in 2014 to 4.2% in 2024.

Back in my September 2021 post linked above, I referred to my own efforts over many years at a large law firm to help recruit, hire and retain increasing numbers of blacks and other minorities. My comment was that this was a “difficult, long-term and often frustrating process.” Google, Facebook and their brethren thought they were a lot smarter and better than the rest of us. Well, welcome to the real world.

DEI is Killing the Obama Library

 Oh, the irony!

The concrete behemoth that consumed children’s baseball fields and nineteen acres of Jackson Park may stand unfinished, an appropriate reminder of the man who wanted to destroy our country.

Barack Obama’s library, officially named the Obama Presidential Center (OPC) was never intended to contain a single book. It stands unfinished and now just blocks the sun. It's construction has been stalled by a minority contractor’s lawsuit.

“Sprouting up on the city's South Side in 2021 like an Egyptian funerary complex, the Taj Barack has already taken nearly twice as long to build as any presidential library in history. And at an estimated cost of $830 million, it's the most expensive... by hundreds of millions."

“In the sweetest piece of irony ever, Barack's Chicago Shrine is turning out to be a near-perfect metaphor for the entire Democratic party."

“A black-owned concrete subcontractor is suing the structural engineering firm behind the project for $40 million claiming that they were discriminated against."

“Left lawyers have sought injunctions to halt the constructions after they uncovered plans to cut down 1,000 old-growth trees."

“And uncomfortable questions were raised over revelations that ex-White House flunky turned CEO of the Obama Foundation, Valeria Jarrett, raked in a cool $740,000 in a single year, to run the OPC straight into the ground."

“For a guy who once branded himself 'No Drama Obama', this has turned into a soap opera. And disillusioned Democrats are rethinking whether to toss more money on this presidential money pyre.

“Contributions first started drying up back in 2023 when donations plummeted by 50 percent from the year before – and the evacuation from the USS Obama seems to be accelerating.

“'He's arrogant,' one erstwhile backer reportedly said of Obama last week. 'There's no quid pro quo because it's a one-way street.'

“Of course! It's the Chicago way... I scratch your back and you scratch mine. It's the American way, in fact.

“Is there any real mystery why Bill Clinton's presidential library reportedly raised more than 10 percent of its $165 million cost from foreign sources or why the royal family of Saudi Arabia gave $10 million to George H.W. Bush's library? The private tours can't be that good.

“These presidential vanity projects are just vehicles for ex-presidents to keep the party going long after they leave the White House.”

Lawsuits have halted all work on the great hoax sitting on the shore of Lake Michigan. Obama’s insistence that much of the construction work was for minority contractors.

Someone should have checked the previous work of Robert McGee Jr.’s company, II in One. It sued structural engineering consultant Thorton Tomasetti, a New York based firm, for $40 million dollars, when work halted.

II in One was hired to do concrete and rebar work at the site. Thorton Tomasetti sent a memo:

"the construction issues were all unequivocally driven by the underperformance and inexperience of the concrete sub-contractor."

A memo from Thorton Tomasetti showed photos of "significant cracking" in the slab poured for the library and "partially exposed (rebar) reinforcement" in the area.

Construction on the library was to begin in 2018 but was delayed until 2021 because of lawsuits filed immediately after the location of Jackson Park was announced. It was one of the last two parks for Blacks in the area. Friends of the Park, a nonprofit, attempted to stop the project but the Supreme Court refused to hear the case.

The II on One lawsuit was filed last month and will, no doubt, drag on for years. But now that the Obama Era is over and he lost that last of whatever influence he had with Blacks by trying to shame them into voting for Kamala Harris, an inferior candidate, no one will much care about the uncompleted structure that was not going to have a single book.

Bring DEI to the NBA

After the growing backlash to DEI, the Cleveland Cavaliers told NBC News that while other organizations may be moving on, the NBA team was sticking with the racist program.

In 2023, Cavaliers CEO Nic Barlage vowed to tie DEI metrics to bonuses and make sure that DEI would be “organically woven within the DNA of your culture.”

“It is just how we go about things,” said Kevin Clayton, the Cavs’ chief DEI officer, who, like most equity bureaucrats, is black, explained. “We believe that everybody in our organization, every person in our community, is part of our diversity, equity and inclusion story.”

What does that actually mean? According to their DEI website, the Cavs promise that “our team members at all levels mirror the demographics of the communities that we live and work in.”

The Cavs have 13 out of 17 black players making for a 76% black team in a half black city.

45.8% of Cleveland is black, 36% is white and 13% is Latino. To truly “mirror the demographics” of Cleveland, the Cavs will need to make some adjustments. The current number of 13 black players will have to be cut to 7.6 with a multiracial player like Ty Jerome serving as the ‘half’.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will have to get rid of 5 black players to make way for 2 new white players, 2 new Latino players and one part Asian/Indian/Eskimo player, and only then will they properly reflect the diversity of Cleveland and showcase the Cavs’ commitment to DEI.

More problematically, of the top 5 highest paid Cavs players, only 1 is white, and only 2 of the top 10, a state of affairs that would set off an outcry in most professions if it were reversed.

I contacted the Cavaliers about whether they had any plans to reshuffle their team roster in keeping with their DEI quotas they claim to live by without expecting an answer. 76% black representation concentrated at the highest salary tiers in an organization trying to ‘diversify’ lower-paying tiers where there are white employees and suppliers is not seen as an issue.

And that’s true for the entire NBA.

The NBA’s DEI office claims that its mission is “focused on ensuring that the NBA continues to have a diverse, equitable and inclusive mix of talent at all levels globally.”

“At all levels” is an interesting contention for an organization with 70% black players.

America, unlike Cleveland and the NBA, is 58% white, 13% black, 19% Latino, and 6% Asian.

To be in compliance with its DEI mandate, NBA teams will collectively need to jettison about 300 black players and hire around 200 white players to make black NBA players a minority and white players a majority. It will also have to bring in 90 Latino players not to mention Asian ones.

That would be absurd and yet such diversity quotas which prioritize race over merit abound. And the NBA and many of its teams have committed to those quotas at every other level except the one that is the most visible and the one that actually matters to the bottom line.

The NBA wants diversity everywhere but in the hands that dribble the ball. Mark Cuban’s Dallas Mavericks brag of having an executive leadership team that is “47% people of color”. The NBA claims that the fact that over half of its coaches are black is an achievement in diversity even though that level of racial disparity is at odds with both national and most local demographics.

DEI doesn’t actually seek equity let alone diversity. The profession of DEI tends to be every bit as diverse as the NBA’s team rosters and the NBA’s DEI professionals are no different. But the difference is that the NBA’s team rosters reward talent while DEI only rewards race.

Putting any metric ahead of performance on the court would lead to easily observable failure while DEI thrives by burying the failures of diversity inside large organizations where responsibility is harder to assign. DEI hires drag down every place they are in because of the simple fact that they were hired for reasons other than the only ones that matter in a workplace.

And that’s why the NBA deserves the DEI that it’s been forcing on everyone else from its front office workers and its suppliers to the cities that its team shake down to the country as a whole.

The NBA would be the perfect opportunity to showcase DEI in action.

Every NBA team should be forced to have a majority of white players who are only there because of the color of their skin. And their black colleagues should have to prop up these DEI hires while watching them get paid inflated salaries and listening to their victimhood stories.

DEI counselors should warn black players that complaining about them is racist. Players and fans should have to listen to the story of how white men have been kept down in the NBA since the 1970s retold over and over again in documentaries and sessions by diversity advocates.

Basketball fans should have to watch as averages drop and diversity players blow game after game while no one is allowed to mention the drastic decline in ability and performance.

The NBA has told us that it wants to set a DEI example for America. This is its opportunity to show everyone just how DEI works in the real world so that we never have to live with it again.

On day two of his administration, President Trump ordered federal agencies to terminate “diversity, equity and inclusion” programs in the government and combat them in the private sector. The order follows through on his promise to forge a colorblind, merit-based society and to end the engineering of race and sex into every aspect of American life.

If Mr. Trump is serious about his goal, he also needs to repudiate disparate-impact theory, which prohibits facially neutral practices that have a disproportionate impact on a protected group. In practice, it often harms the people it’s supposed to protect. And it’s unconstitutional.

Disparate-impact theory was first recognized by the Supreme Court in Griggs v. Duke Power Co. (1971). Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act prohibits racial discrimination by employers. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission applied this prohibition to any policy that had a disparate impact on racial minorities—even absent intentional discrimination. The EEOC argued that the purpose of Title VII was to “accomplish economic results, not merely to influence motives or feelings.” The justices agreed and blocked Duke Power from requiring a passing score on a standardized test and a high-school diploma as conditions of employment, as these requirements disqualified black applicants at a higher rate than whites.

Griggs limited aptitude testing by employers, but not the need for aptitude. Many businesses found a proxy in college-degree requirements, which seemed legally safer given that colleges widely engaged in racial balancing. But applicants with ability but not credentials were blocked from positions.

Griggs was limited to employment law, but disparate-impact theory has since infected many levels of the federal government. It applies to federally funded programs under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, creditors under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, landlords under the Fair Housing Act, and broadband providers under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. It has been used to block criminal-background tests on rent applications, school-discipline policies and underwriting criteria for home insurance. Landlords successfully sued the city of St. Paul, Minn., for “aggressively” enforcing its housing code because it required landlords to respond to rodent infestations, broken smoke detectors and other hazards, which could increase rent and disproportionately affect black tenants.

The Supreme Court has repeatedly emphasized that racial balancing is “patently unconstitutional,” as in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard (2023) and Grutter v. Bollinger (2003). Yet as the justices explained in Ricci v. DeStefano (2009), disparate-impact theory dictates that policies with an “undesirable racial effect” are invalid. If a race-neutral policy affects racial outcomes—or appears to do so—the burden falls on the employer to prove that the policy is essential, a daunting standard.

In practice this means that employers, landlords and other businesses must track and plan for racial outcomes to maintain racial balance. Before adopting policies such as drug tests, they must assess the racial impact and consider alternatives that might achieve a more desirable racial balance. Race must be constantly monitored to identify potential liabilities. As Justice Antonin Scalia noted in his concurring opinion in Ricci, disparate-impact theory places a “racial thumb on the scales” and requires employers to make decisions “because of” racial outcomes.

Mr. Trump accordingly should direct his administration to reverse all rules and cease enforcement based on disparate-impact theory, and he should support litigation challenging its constitutionality. Scalia warned in Ricci that one day the Supreme Court “will have to confront the question: Whether, or to what extent, are the disparate-impact provisions of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 consistent with the Constitution’s guarantee of equal protection?” Mr. Trump should bring forth that day of reckoning.

Pete Hegseth Is In, and It's Going to Hit the Fan!

On Friday, November 29, 2024 I published this piece, What About Pete?, which was hit really hard showing me this was a topic that really resonated with America.  Then on Thursday, January 16, 2025 I published, How Did Pete Hegseth Do?, both of which outline who and what Pete Hegseth was and is, along with his qualifications, which are impressive, and the hypocrisy of his detractors, so I won't be repeating all that here, it's done already, so take a look for yourself.

Now Pete Hegseth has been confirmed as Secretary of Defense but that only happened because V.P. Vance was able to break the tie.  Mitch McConnell, Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins voted no.  Murkowski went on about how impressive Hegseth was but in good conscience had to vote no, but didn't explain how he offended her conscience.   What kind of stupid answer is that?  

As far as I can tell Collins hasn't explained her vote, but one conservative writer Christopher Chantrill in his article What was the Real Problem with Pete Hegseth? explains why, at least in his view, Sens. Lisa Murkowski, and Susan Collins voted no.  They just "gotta go with the cool girls, and all the cool girls are Democrats." 

The cool girls, like Fauxocahontas Elizabeth Warren, Patty Murray,  and Mazie Keiko Hirono, you know..... the cool girls.... who went on about his character, all of whom thought he was too seriously flawed to be SecDef.  

Murkowski and Collins at least didn't play that card.  While playing that card in times past played well for the Dems, it's all worn out now and most on the right no longer care to hear it.  But that tactic is ingrained in the Democrat play book and they can't discard it because that's all they have, along with a corrupt media support.  But that's going down the drain soon.

Actually, we should be shocked the left cares.  Remember when Clinton was President the leftist meme from the Democrats was "character doesn't count"?  Those on the right never agreed with that, but we've seen Trump perform remarkably, in spite of all his character flaws, but corruption isn't one of them, and let's not kid ourselves there has never been more corrupt Presidents than Clinton and Biden, right along with the biggest criminal enterprise in America, the Democrat party.  I'm also inclined to think the thing these two really all have in common with the "cool girls" is they're all old, and dumb.  But wait....there's more!  I'll tell you what, we'll come back to that!

Mitch McConnell who refuses to be interviewed over his vote did release an idiotic statement that should make everyone realize just how corrupt he is, remember, Ole Mitch had no problem voting to confirm Lloyd Austin, Merrick Garland and Pete Buttigieg.

McConnell is Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, and I gotta tell ya, it's my view his vote stinks of self-interested corruption, and I think Christopher Chantrill's article pretty much confirms that as he gets into what's really going on behind the scenes saying:

........."government, in general, is there to provide jobs for Barnacles and Stiltstockings, as described by Charles Dickens way back in 1857."...........According to this notion, the State Department is there to hand out jobs to educated foreign policy analysts. Environmental programs are there to provide jobs for educated environmentalists. Grants to NGOs are there to provide jobs for lefty activists. Grants to universities are there to provide jobs for lefty academics.  So, the Department of Defense is there to hand out goodies to warfighters and veterans............ Pete Hegseth ............ [is] not going to send money to Democratic supporters like the rest of the federal government.........the Democratic Party’s war on Pete Hegseth was a result of careful expert analysis of his 2020 book American Crusade: Our Fight to Stay Free. Here is a quote:

NATO is not an alliance; it’s a defense arrangement for Europe, paid for and underwritten by the United States [and it should be] scrapped and remade in order for freedom to be truly defended............The defense of Europe is not our problem; been there, done that, twice.

For those who are regular readers of P&D you know I'm in total agreement with that. The era is over.  We can no longer afford to police the world........"for everyone else's benefit".  Before America gets involved in any foreign interdiction one question must always be asked.  How does this benefit America as a nation and a culture, and not just the big international corporations in America who are in reality traitorous co-conspirators with the World Economic Forum and other multinational organizations.  

Involvement in this Russo/Ukrainian War does not benefit America.  Europe brought this on themselves, let them fix it, or not.  We have no skin in that game.  None of this was our fault, nor our responsibility, and it's costing the nation hundreds of billions of dollars and weakening our own national defense in support of a completely corrupt dictatorial government that had Joe Biden and his crime family in their pockets. 

What this is really all about with all the RINO's is the big money to be made by keeping America at war, and it's long overdue for there to be a public outcry demanding an open debate about America's involvement in NATO and the United Nations.  All the Democrats voted against Hegseth because they were commanded to do so, and like the good little Stalinists they are, they obeyed. The argument that the three RINO senators voted against Pete Hegseth was because of NATO has legs, hard to prove, but credible.   It’s much easier to question character than have an open debate about the relevance of NATO in the 21st century. 

The reality is America is going to stop wasting American lives and American wealth for the dubious benefit of others.  If America does anything it will be because it directly benefits America.   Trump gets it!  Bretton Woods is over! We don't need them, they need us, and watch as these nations fall into line, just as Mexico and other Latin American states have. 

His character isn't what bothered anyone, it's his views on what the military is supposed to be all about, and being used for social experimentation isn't one of them.  His priorities are "a focus on lethality, meritocracy, accountability, standards, and readiness."  All of which the Democrats hate insanely.  

He's already put down the hammer on DEI at U.S. Department of Defense, and "those who do not comply" are fired.  The Air Force is shutting down DEI schemes.  When you see the highest ranks in the military saying "they're willing to work "with"' the President", that makes it abundantly clear clear there needs to be a serious attitude adjustment at the Pentagon, and I think that means saying "You're Fired".  There's nothing like a good firing to get everyone's head on right, and I think Hegseth can deliver. 

But there are a number of RINO's and war hawks in the Senate like Senator Thom Tillis who was secretly working behind the scenes to sabotage Pete Hegseth encouraging former sister-in-law Danielle Hegseth, who was once married to his brother, claims he abused his ex-wife Samantha, all of which Samantha refutes. 

War hawk Lindsey Graham voted for him, and my guess is they know Trump isn't going to take no for an answer, and have no desire to challenge him on his cabinet picks.  They see a man committed, unrelenting, and no matter how polite he may be, he will punish them in the future just as he's done with former members of his administration who turned on him.  I think Tillis is in trouble no matter what now.  

What's ahead is going to be like a fun roller coaster ride with a lot of ups and downs, but it will be entertaining. 

Trump's Law!

Back about 60 years ago there was a TV show called Burke's Law with Gene Barry as millionaire captain of Los Angeles Police homicide division Amos Burke, who is chauffeured around to solve crimes in his 1962 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II complete with an early car phone solving crimes.  When in one episode a witness asked why: His partner Tilson asked: "Why're you a construction man?" Witness: "It's what I do best." Tilson: "That's why he's a cop."  Burke had a way of doing things as an example he told his detectives never ask a question you don't know the answer to, and that means being on top of the information game, and seeing farther, deeper, and wider than others.  

 The federal and state governments, academia, the Pravda media, Congress, and even the commercial sector is filled with halfwits, nitwits, misfits, dipsticks, and meritless pinheads.  A vile cesspool of destructive self interested corruption.   Highly educated, under smart, and entirely too powerful.  They really don't wish to know anything, which becomes obvious when they talk..... saying nothing. 

Things that are known they ignore because they inconveniently fail to meet the leftist narrative of the moment.  As for the things they don't know, they invent.  But now, none of that matters, truth very patiently waits for us, and hopefully it's here now, at least some of it, and at least for a while.  So enjoy it while it lasts. 

Now we have Donald Trump as POTUS, and getting things done is what he does best, and often times that means saying the two words he practically owns.  You're Fired!  General Mark Milley: “You’re Fired!”  As Trump says about ending the Russo/Ukrainian War, we can do it the easy way, or the hard way – and the easy way is always better', but have no doubt, he's going to  have his way on both domestic policies as well as foreign relations, and his appointees are all on board with imposing Trump's Law!  Trump's executive orders are meant to eradicate Obama's sixteen long years to “fundamentally transform America” to the “foundational restoration” of America. 

Trump will find that the executive orders were the easy part, "he’s now got to fight the enemies within the federal government and worry about the judiciary when all the inevitable lawsuits are filed".  Daniel Greenfield reliably predicts, malicious compliance will be the first wave of fed anti-Trump resistance deliberately "breaking things", by just following orders, all in order to blame Trump. This will be the test for crushing the federal employee unions, and justification for eliminating 80% of them. 

 

But as far as foreign affairs are concerned, things will start going much smoother.  Good riddance to Antony Blinken, and as far as I can tell, he's not been pardoned for anything.  But there is a  host of people who need to be investigated whether they've been pardoned or not.
