LA’s Political Bosses Are On Fire

The ashes of the most destructive fire in Los Angeles history have settled, but a new wildfire is burning through the ranks of the elected and unelected officials who let the disaster happen.

In a truly historic event in which all sorts of glass ceilings were no doubt broken, the first black female mayor of Los Angeles fired the first lesbian fire chief for not warning her that there would be heavy winds before she set off on a trip to Africa that she had promised she wouldn’t go on.

Former Fire Chief Kristin Crowley, a paramedic like the other two lesbians also named Kirsten running the LAFD, appealed to the Los Angeles City Council leading to a historic diversity face-off between an incompetent black woman and an incompetent white lesbian.

City Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson, a former Bass ally and, like her, a former community organizer, initially rejected the appeal. Harris-Dawson was hardly an objective observer since he was the one who had to declare an emergency because LA Deputy Mayor Brian Williams, another Bass ally, was being investigated by the FBI for making bomb threats.

It took Harris-Dawson six hours to declare a state of emergency. Both Bass and Harris-Dawson dismissed the delay, claiming that declaring an emergency actually made no difference at all.

In the City Council showdown, Bass and her allies blamed Crowley for not warning her about the heavy Santa Ana winds even though every local already knows about them and they had been widely covered in the media before the mayor decided to fly off to Ghana. Additionally they complained that Crowley had sent 1,000 firefighters home. According to Crowley, there was no money and no available engines for them to operate because of funding cuts by Bass.

Most damningly though, the Los Angeles City Stentorians, an association of black firefighters, popped up to accuse Crowley of racism, claiming that firefighters were yelling racial slurs while fighting the Palisades fire. This entirely plausible set of events was further backed up with “reports of white firefighters circulating MAGA hats, erecting Trump shrines in stations”.

The allegations against Crowley running a racist MAGA fire department full of Trump shrines where firefighters fight fires by shouting racial slurs at them were signed on to by the local NAACP and other Bass allies. And that was it for the LAFD’s first lesbian fire chief.

It may be acceptable to let significant parts of Los Angeles catch fire, but it is never allowable to let firefighters wear MAGA hats.

The first lesbian fire chief lost the support of black councilmembers but held on to the support of the (probably) first Chinese LAFD union head Chung Ho. Only the two more moderate city council members, including the ‘third latina to serve on the city council’, voted to reinstate Crowley who has now been replaced by the second latino fire chief in what is a historic event.

The DEI circular firing squad is mostly moot because everyone in the identity politics mess had failed on the most basic level to deal with a massive catastrophe. Text messages involving Crowley showed that the city did not move to Level 1 activation until the next morning.

Mayor Karen Bass however deleted her text messages just in time for the roughly four investigations into the devastating fires. According to the city’s lawyer, the deletions were automatic and she was not obligated to keep her text messages because they were not made for the “purpose of preserving its informational content for future reference.”

Messages from her aides however showed that they received warnings about the winds including a big red block warning of “critical fire conditions.” According to Bass, who had promised not to even leave the country, the warnings “didn’t reach that level to me, that something terrible could happen, and maybe you shouldn’t have gone on the trip.”

Her current 28-year-old deputy mayor, a former spokesman urgently promoted to deputy mayor on account of not yet being raided by the FBI for sending in bomb threats, argued, “that is not a warning of disaster. That sends the opposite message.”

While multiple investigations continue of those fires, with investigators claiming last month that they have over 235 leads, but no actual answers there’s also an investigation of a new fire which they suspect was arson that was also mishandled by the LAFD. The suspicions for those fires however revolve around New Year’s Eve fireworks and “unauthorized camping” which is locally a term for the homeless encampments unleashed by the Democrat political machine.

Without waiting for the evidence to be finalized, Los Angeles County sued Southern California Edison: the politically connected power company many are blaming for the disaster. But there’s also reason to believe that the fires may have involved the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power which was supposed to replace power lines, but was unable to do so because it was the location of 183 bushes of an endangered weed known as milkvetch which blooms after fires.

The fires are good for the milkvetch and environmentalists and bad for everyone else.

The DWP is also being sued for low water levels under its historic first latina head Janisse Quinones set to make $750,000 a year. That salary, already described as “eye-popping” will be further augmented by DWP spending another $700,000 to provide her with personal security after reported ‘threats’ due to parts of LA burning down. It would have only cost $130,000 to fix a crucial reservoir, but instead DWP will have spent more than ten times that on its boss.

While families who lost it all are still picking up the pieces, LAPD resources were diverted to protect Quinones, Crowley and assorted other public officials. Now the DWP boss will have her own Pinkerton secret service protecting her historic nature and even more historic salary.

That is what ‘equity’ looks like.

While the multiple federal, state and local investigations into the disaster continue, it’s as of yet not entirely clear which element of the state, county, and city’s historic wokeness was the cause of the historic fires, but what is clear is that every historic leader in the loop failed badly. And rather than admit fault, they have taken to blaming each other and crying that they’re the victims of ‘hate’ before getting back to business as usual without changing a single thing.

That’s what a historically corrupt California looks like.

California Dems Fight Trump While State Burns

As President Trump took office, top California Democrats lined up by the Capitol building in Sacramento to form a healing circle.

Not healing for those killed in the fires burning up parts of Southern California, or those who had lost family members, homes and prized possessions, but to protest Trump taking office.

Surrounded by flickering candles arranged on the steps and piled on the podium, the lawmakers, despite their promise to form a ‘healing circle’, stood in more of the traditional press conference line, and vowed to protect illegal aliens from the Trump administration.

The candles were not there to mourn the dead, but to mourn the results of the 2024 election.

Meanwhile a new fire had broken out which quickly consumed 8,000 acres. That was followed by another fire which forced thousands more to flee their homes. But such concerns were entirely distant from the ‘healing circle’ where none of the wildfire victims could be heard.

“Now more than ever, we must come together to organize and show this president that we are not backing down,” Assemblyman Mike Gipson vowed.

“We do not let Trump harass, intimidate, and push our immigrant community,” Sen. Susan Rubio threatened.

There was no actual healing to be found at the healing circle while the state burned, just rage, threats, warnings and an obsession with protecting their illegal alien majority.

“The California Legislature will be there for our immigrant community,” Assemblyman Alex Lee assured.

The American citizens fleeing the latest fire caused by Democrat mismanagement, political corruption and woke policymaking had no such assurances.

No amount of fires could shift the attention of California Democrats away from illegal aliens.

Even as the worst of the fires blazed, Gov. Newsom and Democrat legislators convened an illegal special session to divert $25 million to fighting efforts to deport illegal alien criminals.

Republicans requested a special session on the wildfires instead of on fighting Trump.

Speaker Robert Rivas appeared to be caught in the headlights when he was challenged by KCRA 3 correspondent Ashley Zavala who asked, “is now the right time to have a special legislative session on allocating money to fight Trump?”

“People are trying to understand what’s going on and are worried about disaster relief, worried about the ability to get homeowners insurance, your chamber gaveled into a special legislative session to prepare for Donald Trump in a way that you are already able to do without a special legislative session. So again, is now the right time for that?” she asked.

Rivas replied by claiming that Democrats were acting with “great urgency” but the greatest urgency was reserved for partisan agendas and protecting illegal aliens in the name of that agenda. And even while the state claimed it didn’t have the money for wildfire relief, it freed up $50 million, double Gov. Newsom’s original request, to wage war on the new administration.

“This funding agreement cements California’s readiness to serve as a bulwark against Trump’s extremist agenda,” Senate Budget Committee Chair Scott Wiener bragged.

California Democrats might not have the readiness to fight fires, but they could fight Trump.

During his first term, California Democrats had sued the federal government 123 times at an annual cost of $10 million. Inflation under Biden has sent costs soaring so this time around, Gov. Newsom wanted $25 million just to ante up at the lawfare table.

Attorney General Rob Bonta, who still hopes to replace Newsom as the man to run the state into the ground for the next four years, was quickly out of the gate with a lawsuit defending citizenship for second generation illegal aliens. “The president chose to start his second term by knocking down one of our country’s foundational, long-standing rights and disregarding our nation’s governing document,” he complained, referring to the 14th Amendment.

Bonta, a Yale Law School graduate, appeared unaware that the 14th amendment came about 80 years after the Constitution and was not “foundational” in any possible sense of the word.

He also appeared unaware that most Californians wanted the attorney general, a Newsom appointee, to fix problems like massive crime, rather than file lawsuits for illegal aliens.

But what they may not have understood was that the special session had less to do with Trump or with illegal aliens than it did with the political fortunes of Newsom and Bonta. Gov. Newsom had secured $25 million in taxpayer money to promote his presidential prospects and secure Bonta’s role as his successor. While California burned, its top officials ignored everything to fight Trump, protect illegal aliens and exploit opposition to Trump to maintain their political power.

California Democrats might have claimed that they couldn’t manage wildfire relief on their own, but they had millions aplenty to advance the crooked political careers of Newsom and Bonta.

The corrupt nature of California’s resistance was not only rooted in protecting criminals, including the drug cartel and gang members who are the leading targets for Trump’s deportations, but in the integration between the party, activists and political careerists.

In Sacramento’, Biden’s old advocacy director flew out from D.C. to stage a rally at the Capitol.

“We are here to defeat, delay, and dilute Trump’s extreme agenda at every level, including the state and local level,” Schifeling, who had jumped ship from the Biden White House to head the ACLU’s advocacy operation, ranted.

California might be on fire, but the state and its major populated regions had always been on fire in one sense or another. Runaway crime and homelessness, the collapse of the retail sector and the educational system, were all crises that were ignored by the Democrat ruling class.

Democrats had spent the first term of the Trump administration on lawsuits instead of on fixing those problems and as Trump’s second term arrived, they made it clear once more that they would watch the state burn to the ground before they would change a thing.

Or give up power.

Scapegoating Climate to Hide Callous Government Malfeasance

Abject failures from Biden, Newsom, LAFD and others can no longer be ignored

Wildfires near Los Angeles have left Pacific Palisades looking like Dresden after the WWII fire-bombings. Over 12,000 homes, schools and businesses have been incinerated, dozens of people have died, at least 70,000 have been left homeless, and fires still rage. AccuWeather estimates that just two of the fires will destroy $135-150 billion in property! It’s a doubly horrific tragedy, because most of the death and devastation could have been prevented.   

California has 33,000,000 acres of federal, state and private forestland – equivalent to Wisconsin. As the state’s population expanded, forests and wildlife increasingly merged with human habitats. And yet federal and state land managers – compelled by ideology, activists, legislators and judges – have steadfastly refused to permit timber cutting, tree thinning or brush removal, or take other actions that would reduce the likelihood of conflagrations.

So many trees are so jammed together now that they’re starved for space, water, nutrients and sunlight. Many are diseased. They are skinny matchsticks, primed to erupt in flames. Some 36,000,000 trees died just in 2022, across just 8% of these forestlands. But even dead and diseased trees are rarely removed.  Rainy fall and winter months stimulate tree, brush and grass growth. Parched summers dry everything out. Extended dry periods leave all this fuel ready to ignite for more months.

Lightning, sparks from cars or power lines, campfires and arsonists set areas aflame. Dry Santa Ana winds (40-70 mph, with gusts of 120-150 mph) whip fires into infernos. Depleted, defunded fire departments often arrive long after they could extinguish fires in their infancy. 

The conflagrations generate still more powerful winds that carry embers, branches, even small trees thousands of feet – often into communities that are ill-prepared to cope. This barely begins the litany of California government failures that help cause repeated fire calamities. However, state and local politicians adroitly avoid responsibility. Their most common excuse is manmade climate change. 

They even have a new fear-inducing term: hydroclimate whiplash! Fossil-fuel-driven climate change supposedly brought two exceptionally wet winters, spurring unprecedented plant growth – and then caused unprecedented arid conditions and previously unheard-of Santa Ana winds that made these infernos unpredictable but inevitable. Calling the massive, repeated government failures “incompetence” is too generous. Deliberate, callous, destructive malfeasance is more apt. Criminal may be appropriate.  

Governor Gavin Newsom wants a special session to discuss spending $25-50 million to “Trump-proof” state policies. He wants to use a new $10-billion “climate bond” to reduce farm and ranch greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, improve “equitable access to nature,” build more parks in “disadvantaged communities,” upgrade ports to handle deepwater offshore wind projects, and more.

California is still pouring billions into EV subsidies, its “clean” energy transition, and the $100-billion “bullet train to nowhere.” It’s spending more billions supporting “sanctuary” status for illegal immigrants, maintaining gender and DEI programs, and ministering to America’s largest number of homeless people – which will now include 70,000+ who’ve lost everything to the 2025 wildfires. 

One wonders whether they’ll treat these now-homeless taxpayers as well as they have illegal populations. Legislated restrictions on how companies may conduct fire-risk assessments and what rates they can charge for homeowners insurance in high-fire-risk areas have caused insurers to leave the state or stop issuing new policies. Hundreds of thousands of families are now uninsured, underinsured or dependent on the state’s FAIR Plan, which has only $385 million in reserves.

Meanwhile, California devoted only $2.6 billion to “forest and wildfire resilience” across all state-managed forestlands, including Topanga State Park, where the fires started, right next to what once was Pacific Palisades – versus $14.7 billion for EVs and “clean renewable energy.” 

With memories of the horrific 2018 Paradise (Camp) fire still causing nightmares, Mayor Karen Bass cut $17.6 million from the Los Angeles Fire Department budget, fired 100 firefighters who didn’t get Covid vaccines, and was partying at an embassy reception in Ghana as the fires erupted LA Fire Department Chief Kristin Crowley (salary: $654,000) has spent millions on DEI programs and hiring more women, gays and minorities. Deputy/Diversity Chief Kristine Larson (salary: $307,000) says victims want to see emergency responders that “look like” them, and if she isn't strong enough to carry your husband out of a fire, he “got himself in the wrong place.” 

 They then failed to keep extra firefighters and firetrucks on duty as winds picked up just before the first forest fires were spotted – apparently to avoid paying overtime. That meant the LAFD couldn’t get there before fires roared out of control. Exhausted firefighters trying to save multi-million-dollar homes in Palisades ran out of water. A major reason was that LA Water and Power Department CEO Janisse Quiñones (salary: $750,000) had the 117-million-gallon Santa Ynez Reservoir drained to repair cracks in its base. 

A full reservoir would have replenished huge storage tanks that feed and pressurize local fire hydrants. Quiñones has said her “number one” priority is equity and social justice. Does that explain why the reservoir was drained in February 2024; no contractor was hired until November 2024; and even then no workers, equipment or materials were in place for 24/7 repairs? Just as callously incompetent, why was there no plan (or no action taken) to utilize fireboats, tugboats, barges and other vessels from Long Beach Harbor and the San Diego Navy Base? 

Many are equipped with water storage, pumps, hoses and nozzles. They could spray seawater directly on coastal homes or run hoses ashore to connect to fire hydrant systems. Some salt would remain in soils and kill some plants. However, the choice should be easy. Lose some prized vegetation to lingering salts – or have prized vegetation, homes, priceless heirlooms and artworks, and everything else incinerated by raging infernos. Homeowners never got to make that choice.  

The incineration of these forests and communities released far more greenhouse gases than all the state’s now-shuttered coal- and gas-fired power plants would have over many decades. Further complicating matters, the fires sent ash and pollutants into skies and left toxic chemicals behind – from plastics, paints, batteries, solvents and other materials in homes, buildings and vehicles. They’ve contaminated waters and soils, which could result in long cleanup and rebuilding delays.

Governor Newsom says he wants to expedite rebuilding. But LA health officials say debris removal and reconstruction are prohibited until licensed officials have carefully examined sites for toxics – dangerous or barely detectable levels? New building codes for fire resistance? Or homeowner demands for them? Citizens need to discuss all this at town hall meetings, before the next conflagration strikes – inevitably, if proper forest and water management and personnel hiring are not implemented immediately. 

Put simply, the woke idiots responsible for this rampant destruction and loss of life must be replaced with people who understand their Number One Job is protecting citizens from crime, fires and other natural disasters. Mr. Newsom also wants an investigation into the loss of fire hydrant water pressure. 

Californians have good reason to suspect he’s merely trying to find excuses and scapegoats, so that he and his favorite legislators can save their political hides. Golden Staters need to revamp their political, bureaucratic, policy and woke systems. They need to rely less on government – and more on themselves, the way the Getty Villa and several neighbors did in Malibu, thereby saving homes, treasures and lives. Otherwise, these needless tragedies will be repeated.

To be a leftist requires massive mental capacity.  Why?  To justify their irrational views, and twisted logic must require unparalleled mental gymnastics. Fortunately, they're so obviously nuts, ordinary people with ordinary mental capacity can see through it all.  But that's not a deterrent to the left.  They lie, they know they lie, we know they lie, and they know we know they lie, and the brilliant conclusion these mental giants on the left come to is since everyone knows it all a lie, it isn't really a lie after all.  Ergo, why stop lying?

And what we're seeing this week prove that. 

The big story this week is the L.A. wildfires, and there's a lot about it in this week's edition, with some great observations as to what this means to the nation.  And I think the Muslim rape gangs is even bigger, and it's going to bring the British Labour Party and the Tories down, and as much as I hate to say it, I gotta give Elon Musk all the credit for making this a major international issue.  I've been reporting and writing about this for many years, but Musk made this happen. 

Since the election a lot of major companies have declared they're abandoning DEI.  And whether or not DEI is done is being argued a lot. I can see both sides of this, but I take a carrot and stick approach to this.  The carrot is a company provides quality goods and services  because they hire based on merit and thrive.  The stick is a company doesn't provide quality goods and services because they hire based on DEI concepts and fail to provide quality goods and services and fails.  The consumer will decide if DEI lasts, and based on what's happening, DEI is dying, and will soon be dead.  Good.  

This week it's been reported the FDA Banned Red No. 3 Food Dye After Testing Links to Cancer in Rats. It's bogus, and I'm convinced RFK, Jr's nomination is responsible.  I knew it was bogus because rat testing is just the first step in the process, using that for the final decision isn't valid science because:

1. They use rats because they can't throw up and anything they're fed must be metabolized. 
2. They feed them massive amounts of these compounds, usually far larger than a person would consume in a lifetime, which guarantees some kind of physiological reaction.  
3. They use rats that are genetically predisposed to growing tumors, and
4.  It's a violation of the Information Quality Act which requires them to use the best science available, and that's not it.
5.  The idea that if something is carcinogenic as any level, it's carcinogenic at every level is known to be false as at some point the molecular load will be so small the cells simply won't respond.  

I've written about this for years, and if Kennedy gets in I'm going to have to go back to those files and start publishing rebuttals for the nonsense this halfwit will be pushing. 

I've been reading a number of observations about Biden's delusional speech about his accomplishments and his worries, and it was so bad it's clear the speech writers have left the building.  Just about everyone is laughing at, and mocking, his lying twist on reality.  The man is now and has always been a corrupt, vile, spiteful liar, but I'm not sure he's aware he's lying. 

He's clearly a pathological and compulsive liar, and for the most part I think that's been true for most of his life. Such liars often really believe what they're saying. It's a mental disorder called "pseudologia fantastica", and I'm sure his dementia has only exacerbated that disorder. But think about this.  All those who've been around him for all these years had to know that, the evidence has been clear and abundant for years, and yet the Democrat's bench was so bad those same people chose him as their relief pitcher in 2020 be their candidate for President of the United States. Just think now bad their bench is now.  Their bench is filled with equally vile, corrupt, lying, Anti-American lunatics for 2028, and the Obama machine has sand in the gears.

 I'm looking forward to the next two years before the next midterms as now the Pravda Media is swirling around the drain, and the alternative media is becoming massively ascendant. It's my view the alternative media will have to be a driving force to stop the left's corrupt and illegal voter fraud political machine, as it will take a lot of publicity to create enough public outrage to make the invertebrates in the Republican party to take that stand. 

Since Nick Sandman sued the Washington Post for millions and won, we're seeing a lot more of that.   Trump just won against MSNBC, CNN just lost and will pay millions, and  CBS Considering Settling $10 Billion Lawsuit by Trump.   "Dead man walking", defines what the Pravda media is now. 

This article appeared a few days ago, Wait, there's no such thing as a Snail Darter? Good article! Environmentalists proclaim all species are necessary for continued life on Earth, and there can be no limitations on money or restrictions in order to save each and every one of them. There's a problem with that kind of thinking, it's called history. Over 95% of all the species that have lived have gone extinct. Extinction is the rule, not the exception. Here is my ESA file going back to 2011, exposing the many insane abuses imposed on America by the ESA, constantly twisting logic and reality into insurmountable and irrational regulations. Regulations never intended by Congress. Overturning Chevron was far more important than I think most realize, and if there ever was an act that needed repealed, it's ESA. And that would just be a good start. 

After all the hullabaloo and chest pounding over Trump saying he wants to buy Greenland, it appears to me someone sat down and did some analysis on economics and defense and now Greenland's PM says he’s 'ready to talk' to President Trump about its future.  Imagine that. 

The Hamas cease fire deal stinks.  There's no way to make this pile of crap smell good. This is a bad deal and I can't imagine how Israel could agree to this surrender to Hamas, and Hamas thinks it's a surrender. If you're a moral person you must feel compassion for the hostages, if you're a rational person you must realize these kinds of deals, especially these 50 to 1 deals, make hostage taking more prevalent. When CAIR thinks this is a good deal you know just how bad a deal this is, not only for Israel, but for the US and the world as it sends a message of weakness and stupidity. This is not leadership.

To protect the fact England had broken the German Enigma code during WWII the English chose at times to not act on their advanced intelligence, and often times that decision cost a lot of civilian lives. This weighed heavily on Churchill, but he understood it was necessary to recognize the long term consequences of failing to keep that secret from the Germans.  He understood that was the price of leadership, and the cost for victory.
