Xi’s totalitarian model has precedents in both modern and ancient Chinese history. But it was not—and still isn’t—inevitable
Francis Fukuyama
In order to understand how the United States and other Western
countries should deal with China in the coming years, we need to
understand what kind of society we are dealing with. Such an
understanding needs to be derived both from Chinese history and from its
more recent behavior.
We need to separate this discussion from
the noise generated by the recent deterioration of U.S.-China relations.
In trying to deflect attention from its own poor handling of the
COVID-19 crisis, the Trump Administration has been needlessly
provocative in its stance towards China, insisting, for example, that
COVID-19 be referred to as the “Wuhan virus.” This is not a serious
approach to policy and needs to be replaced by a more dispassionate
assessment of where we stand.
China has one of the world’s longest continuous histories as a society, and
there are a number of continuities between its different dynasties and
the present. To the extent that many Western observers are familiar with
China’s pre-20th century history, knowledge usually extends
only as far as the late Qing Dynasty, when the country was still under
the rule of a decaying foreign regime.......To Read More....
My Take - In an effort to understand China we need to understand the history of China. It’s long and it’s complicated, but not cryptic. This is an interesting piece, with good history, and wrong conclusions. We have to understand, and I think this article touches on it, China's governments have always have been corrupt to their core, and nothing's changed.
Clearly this is another "progressives" response to the reality of Trump, which is to first recognize who the enemy is, and then do what is necessary to defeat that enemy.
While it may be true it’s the Chinese Communist Party that’s the enemy of freedom, specifically the United States, which is the only thing preventing worldwide totalitarianism, but the fact is it’s impossible to differentiate between the CCP and China. China is the enemy of the world, and it is in all of its parts.
Arguments that divide the two is a logical fallacy meant to cloud the issue to prevent clarity and weaken resolve. That’s like going into WWII and saying the enemy is the Nazi party, not the German people. Blatant nonsense.
If the U.S. ceases to be the U.S., these quasi socialist so-called democratic governments around the world will turn authoritarian, and authoritarian governments will turn totalitarian, and that will be universally progressive.
I see this issue as clear as crystal because China is to freedom, honest trade, mutual respect as “Green” is to the pesticide application, manufacturing and distribution industries, in point of fact, all the chemical and industrial industries.
They are the enemy, there is no agreement they won’t abandon, there is no compromise they will honor and there is no end to their demands. They are an enemy that needs to be crushed. Why? Because Green is a neo-pagan secular religion, and its acolytes have an agenda that’s a “holy’ crusade to destroy modern societies, and they do it by spreading lies about man's continued existence insisting that if we don't abandon modern technology we and the planet are doomed.
Since environmentalism has morphed into a religious movement, to abandon it is heresy, and heresy must be punished. Just as it is with all leftist concepts. Ask Alan Dershowitz what happened when he abandoned some of the leftist narratives.
It’s no different with the communists. I’m not advocating military actions, but here’s the reality of China vs. the U.S. We need to crush them!
The sane people of this world need to stop paying attention to the propaganda and outright lies from the Green movement, so too we need to recognize any writer who tries to convince us we need to find accommodation with the communists is a foolish fellow traveling progressive with no real understanding of the reality of the pseudo secular religion of the left.
Any agreement with China must give the free world a substantial advantage economically, socially and militarily over China. We've foolishly been funding their military build up for forty years, and their goal is to dominate their neighbors militarily and economically. Their demands regarding Taiwan isn't just meaningless jaw flapping. It's very real! Their goal to dominate all of South East Asia, but the real target is the United States, and Trump, unlike the RINO’s and the Democrats, recognizes that.
They will never stop being China, and the United States must never stop being the United States where the Constitution really is the law that governs government. The only force standing between totalitarianism and truth, justice and the America way. Furthermore, we need to make sure the leftist in America cannot alter the fundamental and foundational values that made this nation great, and before Trump we were almost there where every part of the federal government, including the military, became infested with traitors.
All the parts were in place in every bureaucracy to impose an authoritarian socialist state on the American people. All the nation had to do was elect one of the most corrupt human beings in America, Hillary Clinton.
