The Manhattan Contrarian ranks at the top of my list of perceptive bloggers.
He specializes in elegant analyses of dysfunctional NYC policies on welfare and housing, but he adds excellent forays into national politics.
One of his best is "The Government Puts A Gigantic Lead Weight On The Scale Of This And Every Election," which examines the ways in which the government weights elections in favor of the Democrats and statism to the point where "you really wonder how it is possible for any Republican to be competitive in any race ever."
He starts by quoting George Will on the IRS war against the Tea Party, then adds his own list:
