I find most of the world's problems are a result of a lack of clarity of thought. Why is that? Because we fail to define things properly. Definition leads to clarity. Clarity leads to understanding. Understanding leads to good decision making and good decision making leads to harmony. In order to have the ability to define things properly requires reading a lot of history.
Tell me the history - the whole history - and I will give you the answer.
But without an absolute desire to study and understand history, coupled with a solid moral foundation as a touchstone - there can be no good decisions, only temporary short term fixes based on conventional wisdom. Fixes that may lead to long term disasters. How often have we seen clever schemes turn disastrous and hear people say: It seemed like a good idea at the time!
History and a solid moral foundation are what allows us to see farther, deeper and wider than everyone else, and we've abandoned both.
