The Only Pandemic We Face is a Pandemic of Fear, Hysteria and Lies

This "pandemic" insanity has been a conspiracy to implement tyrannical government worldwide, and to do that they must destroy the American identity, American culture, American economy and the Constitution, which is being attacked unremittingly.  As the Canada Free Press states in it's logo, Because without America, there is no free world.

Below is a series of linked articles, not necessarily in chronological order, demonstrating how all I've said is an accurate interpretation of the reality we're seeing unfolding before our eyes. Don't take my word for it.  Everyone should question my interpretation of events and ask:   Is all this true, and if so, how did this happen?  

Debra Heine's December 9th piece, CDC: About 75 Percent of Omicron Cases Are in Fully Vaccinated People states:

The Omicron variant has been detected in at least 19 states in the U.S., and is striking mainly fully vaccinated people, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Forty-three people in 19 states have tested positive for omicron, according to remarks made to the Associated Press by Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. About 75 percent of those cases are in people who are fully vaccinated, and one person has been hospitalized. One-third of those individuals had traveled internationally; one-third had received a booster. The cases so far have been “mild,” she said. Preliminary data from South Africa meanwhile show that people who have previously had COVID-19 have more protection against the Omicron variant than those who have been vaccinated, the UK Telegraph reported......

Once again, both natural immunity and acquired immunity, are more effective than these so-called vaccines that are in reality just treatments, yet we constantly hear otherwise from Fauci and his band of misfits, and this effort to put those who disagree and refuse to get these treatments are being ostracized by governments worldwide.   

Eric Thompson posted this piece this yesterday, Shocking! LA School Turns Away ‘Unvaccinated’ Officers, Who Were Responding To School Threat saying: 

The public school system has morphed from the Boston Latin School which was established as the first public high school in 1635 in Boston, Massachusetts to failing social justice portals of Marxism and low expectations, public schools, in 2021.  Parents are frustrated that schools are mandating vaccines for their children when less than 2 percent of children known to be infected by the coronavirus are hospitalized, and less than 0.03 percent of those infected, die from the virus.  In spite of the scientific data, the COVID hysteria on CA campuses is forcing school administrators and teachers to make decisions, in compliance with all new laws and directives. 

"On or around 3 pm PST, Wednesday, December 8, local law enforcement officers were notified of a potential school shooting threat made against Watts Middle School in Los Angeles, CA........ It is unsure what the specific events were around the exact moment, when the school director, Angelique Sims, then asked the police officers if they had their proof of vaccination status, citing school mandate/policy. The police responded that they did not have proof of vaccination, and were then instructed by school Director Sims, that as per school policy, they could not be allowed on campus, if they were unvaccinated. The police then left the school campus."

So, what kind of insanity is this?  You call the police to investigate a potential crime ..... a potentially serious crime.....and then like the Nazi's in the old time movies arrogantly ask..."papers please".... all in order to see if these people coming at your request, and to your aid, are properly indoctrinated in the Church of Wokeness?  I wonder if they would  have been so adamant if there was a violent thug attacking them, or their family, or in their own homes? 

On November 30th, H.R. 550, passed in the U.S. House of Representatives, including 80 Republicans,  called the Immunization Infrastructure Modernization Act of 2021, which would give unconstitutional authority to state and local government and health departments to track the vaccination status of American citizens.  This will set up an national vaccination registry, giving every little bureaucratic  tyrant in the nation the power to say:  "Papers please"....and who knows....maybe with a German accent for emphasis.

It's up to the Senate now, but if this passes this will not be the end, this will be the beginning of the end to our right to medical choices, and it won't end there either.  Once this data base is set up what's to prevent them from expanding it into other areas that will permit invasions of privacy, and who knows how far that can go, which I address later in this article.

On December 11, 2021 John Green posted this piece, We broke everything in the name of COVID demonstrating how incompetent the federal and state governments have been in dealing with a national crisis they created. 

 

Our system of commerce is the engine upon which our economy depends, and it is far more complex than any computer room............Leaders ordered some workers to stay home yet allowed others to work — designating them essential..........All components of the system are required.  None is un-essential.

Yet our leaders shut the system down in a fruitless attempt to control a virus.  That is some major-league hubris.  Well, the virus is still with us, and so is the damage to our economy.  Our economy is Humpty Dumpty, and our wannabe dictators kicked him off of the wall with relish.  Now they’re looking at the pieces and acting surprised that he broke. We’ve been trying to restart the engine of commerce for over a year now, and it’s still not running right.............imposing vaccine mandates, extending unemployment benefits, waging a war on fossil fuels, expanding the regulatory state, spending like a drunken sailor (apologies to drunken sailors), and pursuing increased taxation...........Once again, we are being undone by our own hubris.  We thought we could tinker with a system of such unimaginable complexity that we don’t understand it — with no negative consequences.

Well, the consequences of these actions can potentially destroy our economy and our Constitution.  What this is in reality is what I've defined as the

Lloyd Billingsley on Dec 10, 2021 published this piece, Fauci on Film, "with Dr. Anthony Fauci, Joe Biden’s chief medical advisor, claims that his critics are “really criticizing science because I represent science.”  What in reality he actually represents is lies and fraud.  Not science.  As the article goes on to say: 

 

Anthony Fauci is most responsible for the lockdowns that wrecked the surging Trump economy and inflicted untold suffering on millions of people. Fauci backed New York governor Andrew Cuomo, who sent some 15,000 people to their deaths in nursing homes. Cuomo claimed he was following federal policy, but when CNN asked Fauci if that was true, the man who claims to represent science declined to answer..............Fauci was unqualified. According to Mullis, inventor of the polymerase chain reaction, Fauci “doesn’t understand electron microscopy and he doesn’t understand medicine. He should not be in a position like he’s in.” But he is, and now claims to represent science itself. That smacks of megalomania...[and ye]t he wields executive-level power........“There comes a time when you do have to give up what you consider your individual right of making your own decision, for the greater good of society.”  The ultimate public servant thus reveals his inner Duce, his inner Stalin.

 

 On December 10, 2021 this piece, Brilliant Fools Are Causing Terrible Societal Damage by Steve Apfel states:

When did it come to light that Dr. Fauci types, rather than applying the scientific method to medical issues, were foolishly pursuing political ends free from science? ...........Setting the pace is Dr. Fauci, a political mover, a briber, a bully, and a charmer. Once in power, his mandates to stop the spread turned into devices to monitor the masses. Two years later, failed lockdowns, masking, and travel bans are going strong the world over. No pedestal is more elevated than Dr. Fauci’s, nursing a fantasy that he and Science are one and the same. To go against him is to endanger the health of every American.........

Clearly, the arguments are dishonest on two levels. (1) Vaccines for COVID and vaccines for yellow fever and polio are not comparable. The latter immunize fully and don’t need boosters soon after. (2) The argument, ‘you are not free to infect other people’ is quite brazen. Everyone knows that the fully vaxxed get and spread the virus as prolifically as the unvaxxed.

Suppose the latter stopped their slanders for a day to debate heretics...........As for what goes on under the Fauci nose, public and private health have been shifting medical science into the pseudo space.......... On one side is medicine and on the other Wokeism............ Fear = equals compliance = police state.

Daniel Horowitz posted this piece on December 07, 2021, The country that ‘succeeded’ against COVID with masks has the highest case rate in the world saying:

 

Despite nearly two years of evidence that strict mask-wearing has zero effectiveness in stopping the spread, the mandates on 2-year-olds on planes and in many schools still continue. Slovakia is a perfect case study of the mask mendacity............On May 13, 2020, the Atlantic published an article lauding Slovakia for, at the time, having the lowest per-capita COVID death rate in Europe. The article’s prediction should now be the laughingstock of the world..........Slovakia was so worried about masks that the country even got Taiwan to donate hundreds of thousands of these useless cloths as part of a bilateral trade agreement.Well, that was before Slovakia’s first winter wave. One can excuse people for mistaking low spread at the time for mask efficacy rather than the fact that the country just didn’t get its turn yet. But for countries to continue this inhumane mandate despite what we now know demonstrates that masks are not a means to public health but an end in themselves of tyranny..

Fortunately there are still some sane people among America's judiciary as the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Ends School Mask Mandate.  Let's take note this case went to their Supreme Court, which was brought into being by "Pennsylvania Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman, a Republican who is running for governor.  And here's the important part.   It was filed personally, as a parent, along with other parents, and not as part of a Senate action."  And that's what it will take to end this insanity, parents, business owners, workers, all an informed and inflamed citizenry who are "mad as hell and aren't going to take it anymore."

 

You don't have to go crazy as did Howard Beale in the 1975 film classic Network, but at some point we have to conclude we're being turned into dhimmi forced to pay the jizya, or in this case, a Vax or tax – forced into second-class citizenship sharia-style imposed by these tyrants.

These misfits are turning those who disagree, and with good reason, into the "others".  Others who can be not only be discriminated against,  but one in which people like this NEA board member who suggested the unvaxed deserve to die.  This insanity was openly rejected and criticized, but is this what they really believe?  I think it is, and they will not go quietly into the night and stop afflicting America, as is noted below in this classic bit of "projection" by the Meathead, Rob Reiner who claims Trump Followers ‘Are Not Hesitant to Use Guns’ — ‘We Have to Stop’ the Coup Now.

In Germany 'Ritual humiliation' is required of unvaccinated children put in front of classroom where the unvaccinated children must explain to their classmates why they're not vaccinated.  What kind of sadistic perversion forces this on children?  

And there's more.  In order to be able to shop in Germany you must have  particular "wristband" and "those people who don't have the wristbands won't be able to go shopping across a multitude of stores." ".........reminiscent of 1930s Germany."  What kind of people do this to their population? 

Oregon Health Officials Seek to Make Indoor Mask Mandate Indefinite, in spite of all the studies that show and are even unhealthy. 

In New York 100 Unvaccinated Employees Who Claimed Religious Exemption were fired, New York City's Mayor mandated all workers, including private sector employees must be vaccinated.  The courts have put a halt to that, and the courts are shutting down Biden's insane vaccine mandate power grab. 

In Australia the Australian Health Department Denies Unvaccinated Patients Organ Transplant Surgery and Supermarkets, Groceries Can Exclude Unvaccinated.  But I knew some Aussies when in the Navy and they're just not the kind of people who just roll over and play dead just because "The Tall Poppies" say so.

News outlets portrayed the “government as doing great, the police are doing great, and that everything was great” in Victoria’s handling of the pandemic........... protesters were portrayed as fringe elements of society, “extremists” and “anti-vaxxers.”.........The weeks-long protest began when several members of the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining, and Energy Union (CFMMEU) rallied outside the union headquarters over vaccine mandates in the construction industry.  The protests turned ugly with incidents of violence. Soon after, the Victorian state government issued a sudden mandate to shut down all construction work in Melbourne for two weeks.  The rallies escalated into a thousands strong march over several days around the city. Currently, protest activities continue on an almost-weekly basis, now drawing in people from all walks of life.

Most neoliberal nations no longer talk about the global ideological struggle once pitting "free" and "controlled" states against each other.  Why?  Because that distinction makes little sense when Australia is hunting down citizens for fleeing its quarantine concentration camps and Finland is putting Christianity on trial.  I'm trying to remember...who won the Cold War again?  

The protests continue, and I believe will grow, even as it has in Belgium.  Thousands Peacefully Protest COVID-19 Restrictions in Belgium, Small Group Clashes With Police, and with good reason.  The Vaccines aren't vaccines, they don't work and there is a long list of negative health issues with these shots.

Since vaccines are the only exit strategy, news was suppressed on potential early treatment strategies, COVID’s low risk to children, alternate strategies to lockdowns, and vaccine side effects. The NIH could have led by initiating RCTs on early treatment regiments, face masks, natural immunity, and vaccine-induced myocarditis. Instead, physicians now lose their medical licenses for prescribing FDA approved drugs, like ivermectin, for off-label uses that 200+ members of Congress, Japan, and India used successfully. 

Disregarding natural immunity was the most blatant, dangerous CDC lie, since many who refuse vaccination understand that prior infection is more protective. Furthermore, by not separating prior infected from the vaccinated and unvaccinated cohorts, the VE becomes meaningless. Only the most blind refuse to see that first responders, who put their lives on the line in the early pandemic to treat COVID patients and quell riots, are now sacrificing their livelihoods to refuse vaccines they don't want -- many were infected early while working tireless hours to protect Americans and now have lost jobs in the midst of hospital and police worker shortages.

Isabel van Brugen and Jan Jekielek write, a Yale Epidemiologist states this COVID-19 a Pandemic is  nothing more than fear ‘manufactured’ by authorities, saying:

So we quickly learned who was at risk for the pandemic and who wasn’t. “However, the fear was manufactured for everybody. Where is this going? Joe Bastardi calls this The Covid, climate alliance saying:

Think about it. What does Marxism seek to do? It is a top-down authoritarian form of governance where control of free will and freedom of the individual is a must. This force’s dependence on the state, and in the spiritual aspect, forces a person to choose between that dependence and one’s religious belief.

So what are you seeing here? Covid policy is a tactic to control. The Virus is GOING TO NATURALLY MUTATE TO GET AROUND ANY TYPE OF ARTIFICIAL RESISTANCE. Nature does that all the time. But think what the reaction, no matter what the intention, has done. It forced a sense of fear and almost blind reliance, and outsourcing of one’s freedom, to someone who will take care of you. The age-old question of is it better to be safe or strong enough to resist a threat comes to mind, Those seeking safety first will trust someone else rather than themselves. How else can you explain an almost blind allegiance to someone who has not actively treated a patient in a practice for over 30 years, over doctors on the front lines offering suggestings on how to stop this. Dr Fauci, who is now floating the trial balloon of renewed lockdowns. Right in time for the holidays.

They want to talk math and science right? Okay. Tested positives are near 50 million. It is hugely telling that the people pushing a vaccine have not set up antibody testing stations around the country with the availability of testing or vaccination sites, You can get the shot anywhere, but you can’t tell if you have Covid antibodies in the same ratio, It is common knowledge now that natural immunity ( and for goodness sakes.  This should be intuitive),.  Why isn’t the French vaccine available here? It uses the tried and true method of prevention, stimulating your body to create its own antibodies and then becoming more mutation resistant

Nature is a stronger and longer defense against COVID. So why would you not want to get an actual count of people with antibodies?, rather than a tested count? THAT MAKES NO SENSE. And its baffling how people don’t see that.  Or don’t ask why vaccines like the one above are not available.  Dr  Fauci says it spread 5x faster than flu. By HIS IDEA the whole country should have had it by now. But no matter let’s take how many people have been vaccinated. It is over 230,000,000 million, You have 50 million immune. and if the vax is so powerful that it is our patriotic duty to get it, even though there is risk

The end result is fulfilling the left's all time goal of ending individual rights, and whether it's this false pandemic or environmentalism, it's all about control, power and tyranny of the elite over the masses.  It's insanity, and as Joe Bastardi notes:

 "Covid or climate there are just too many common links to ignore."

Let's try and get this right, please.  The left is like rust, it never sleeps, it also never gives up and it always lies.  Like Satan, it's constantly changing itself into an angel of light in order to deceive the masses into giving them the uncontrolled power they so cravenly desire.  Whether it's this fraudulent pandemic or the fraudulent climate change scares, these are just tools for them to do get that power.  

The consequences of leftism?  While promising utopia, what they never fail to deliver is dystopia, which follows leftism like Sancho Panza following Don Quixote, a madman.  That's history, and that history is incontestable. 

Three States With Highest Vaccination Rates Are Stunned To See Case Numbers

As the Biden regime, state and local tyrants, fascist woke corporations, and Hollywood leftists continue to push for authoritarianism to force unvaccinated American citizens (not illegal migrants they consider “unregistered democrats”) to get vaccinated, we are receiving more and more information that the vaccines are not effective against the COVID-19 virus or its variants.

Reuters reported that the Pfizer-BioNTech (which is still under Emergency Use Authorization according to the latest factsheet on the FDA’s website) vaccine’s effectiveness at preventing people from getting the COVID-19 virus dropped to 47% from 88% six months after receiving the second dose, according to data published last week.  There are studies and reports coming out showing that the vaccine itself is causing a lot of the problems the world is experiencing with COVID.

Data shows that states that have the highest percentage rates of fully vaccinated people are also showing the highest increases in COVID infections.......... New R.1 COVID-19 variant spreads quickly at Kentucky nursing home

A new variant of the COVID-19 virus has been identified at a Kentucky nursing home, where it infected 45 residents and workers, many of whom were vaccinated. Let’s get one thing clear, right from the front. I’m not the big expert. That’s because there’s waaaay too much information for any one person to understand. I’m just the “splainer,” since I’m the nut who has taken waaaay too much time away from his golf game to study the experts and learn what’s actually going on so I can ‘splain it for you. Don’t try this at home. I am a professional. I spent 36 years practicing medicine, with a huge chunk of that time wearing masks, both in the operating room and the expensive – oops – Intensive Care Unit. My job is to translate “doctor” into English.

First things have to come first, and like a lot of other times, I have to start with one of those bits where I hit my forehead with my palm and cry out “Duh!” Like every other doctor, there was something I missed that should have been totally obvious.

Vaccines don’t keep you from getting infected by a virus.

You read that right. Vaccines don’t keep anyone from getting infected. Their job is to keep you from getting sick. In fact, every good vaccine prepares your immune system to shut down an infection after it has gotten started. That’s because antibodies and T-cells live in your bloodstream. They can’t do a damn thing about a virus that hasn’t infected you enough to get into your blood. But once it gets there they can go to work, keeping the bug from hurting you. At least, that’s the theory. And that’s where we find the first problem.

Airborne diseases like COVID-19 don’t go straight into your blood. Instead, after you breathe enough virus-laden aerosols in, the air sacs in your lungs get a pretty good covering of virus. This doesn’t make you sick. But the virus latches onto the pneumocytes (the cells on the inside of the air sacs) and start making more virus. This means you can share with your neighbor. In fact, many vaccinated people actually breathe out as much virus as someone who is sick with COVID-19.

But you aren’t defenseless. Your air sacs have “alveolar macrophages,” specialized cells that use “Pattern Recognition Receptors” to identify the Wuhan Flu. Over time, they will clean out the air sacs. And vaccinated people seem to be infectious for a shorter period than unvaccinated.

The viruses that got into the pneumocytes will create more viruses, and some of those will find their way across the basement membrane (the barrier between blood and air in your lungs) into your bloodstream. Once there, if your immunity is good, your T-cells and antibodies will get to work. You may never even know you were infected. Of course, since the vaccine is only about 85% effective, you might get sick.

Suppose you are one of those vaccinated people who gets infected. You could even have gotten it from your vaccinated friend who got it… somewhere. The bug is “in the wild.” That means it is everywhere. You can’t avoid it unless you stay outdoors 24/7/365. Out there any virus is diluted so much that you won’t catch it, and in the daytime, the sun will destroy it with UV light. That’s why the number of people who have caught the Wuhan Flu outdoors is indistinguishable from zero.

Indoors, with recirculated air conditioning, the virus concentrates. It stays in the air for hours or days. So when you go into a space where someone has been shedding virus for a while (vaccinated?), you will get exposed. And don’t give me that mask-wearing nonsense. The other guy wasn’t wearing a mask that cut down the amount of virus he left behind by any meaningful amount. He’s breathing out as many as 100,000 virus particles a minute. You only need 100-1000 in your lungs to get you infected. You aren’t wearing a properly fitted fresh N-95. That means the virus gets to you easily. Both masks were nothing but virtue signaling. Their only real possible value is as bling. Neither mask provided any material protection. There was no source control on the other guy and no exposure control for you.

This brings us to the 600-pound gorilla in the room. You are more likely to get infected today than months ago because of the vaccine. This is the “Superbug Problem.”

A few years ago we were all worried about bacteria that couldn’t be killed with antibiotics. They were so deadly that anyone who “caught” MRSA or C-Diff was doomed. But you don’t “catch” those bacteria. They are common. In ordinary circumstances, they compete with so many other bacteria that they are a non-event. If you kill off all the other bacteria with antibiotics, MRSA and C-Diff are what’s left. Now you have a problem. You didn’t create the bugs. You created the situation where they could take over and kill your patient.

We fixed this problem by severely restricting antibiotics. I got three days of an old drug after my shoulder replacement. That’s it. I wasn’t on cefazolin any longer than absolutely necessary, and it didn’t have time to wipe out a lot of bacteria in my body. MRSA and C-Diff never got a toehold.

Vaccines are doing exactly the same thing, just with COVD variants. The Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J vaccines provide immunity to the alpha variant spike protein. Because viruses are constantly mutating, there are dozens of variants. We hear about the Delta, but Lambda and Mu are already in the wild. Each one of these has a slightly different spike protein, making your immunity not so good. But if you recover from COVID, you also have immunity to other parts of the virus, such as the nucleocapsid and envelope. The Fauci ouchy doesn’t help with them. That’s why your immunity after recovery is much longer-lasting and robust than after the shot. It also explains why Gibraltar, with a 99% vaccination rate, is having huge problems with COVID variants. It’s also why getting a booster coding for just the alpha spike is stupid. You need immunity to the whole virus.

But how do you get over a case of Wuhan Fu? Space doesn’t allow a full discussion, but the CDC and FDA are totally invested in expensive vaccines that cause myocarditis, strokes, miscarriages, and other major complications. They have not only refused to endorse any prehospital treatment whatever but they are also actively discouraging effective protocols, such as the $8 per person treatment that stopped the Delta variant in India. One has to wonder if it’s because it uses Ivermectin, an incredibly inexpensive drug with very little toxicity.

We will never eliminate COVID because it has animal reservoirs that will pass the virus back and forth from animals to humans. If we follow Sweden’s example, where natural immunity has basically eliminated the Delta epidemic, we can go completely back to normal, as long as we treat the bug in the early stages. If we continue to vax, mask, and lockdown, expecting a different result…

Floundering Fauci Demands Simple Answers to Complex Problems

Early twentieth-century satirist H.L. Mencken quipped, "For every complex problem, there is a solution that is simple, neat, and wrong."  The ongoing COVID-19 disaster illustrates the truth of Mencken's Meta-Law.

We have a virus afflicting us.  Wait!  That's not true.  We have multiple viruses, and alpha, beta, gamma, delta, lambda, and who knows how many other variants of COVID.  Yet the answer given by the CDC, Fauci, Biden, and PMSNBC is that we have to wear masks, get vaxxed, socially distance, and maybe lock down.  Those are simple solutions to a much more complicated problem than those problem-solvers are willing to admit.  Let's break it down.............."Doctor" Fauci and his minions are a one-note samba.  Mask, distance, vax!  Rinse and repeat.  They are presenting a simple answer to a complex question.  The list of their errors is too long and distinguished to tackle here.  And they are so wrong that it's impossible to express the revulsion they should create in every sentient being.  Their prescriptions are responsible for uncountable deaths and untold misery.  Mencken was right, but the proper answer appears to be, "Beam me up Scotty!  There's no intelligent life down here.".........To Read More....

 

Why Is Everyone in Texas Not Dying?

 I'm sitting at a bar in Texas, surrounded by maskless people, looking at folks on the streets walking around like life is normal, talking with nice and friendly faces, feeling like things in the world are more-or-less normal. Cases and deaths attributed to Covid are, like everywhere else, falling dramatically. 

If you pay attention only to the media fear campaigns, you would find this confusing. More than two weeks ago, the governor of Texas completely reversed his devastating lockdown policies and repealed all his emergency powers, along with the egregious attacks on rights and liberties.

There was something very un-Texan about those lockdowns. My hotel room is festooned with pictures of cowboys on horses waving guns in the air, along with other depictions of rugged individualism facing down the elements. It’s a caricature but Texans embrace it. Then a new virus came along – as if that had never happened before in Texas – and the new Zoom class took the opposite path, not freedom but imposition and control. 

After nearly a year of nonsense, on March 2, 2021, the governor finally said enough is enough and repealed it all. Towns and cities can still engage in Covid-related mischief but at least they are no longer getting cover from the governor’s office. 

At that moment, a friend remarked to me that this would be the test we have been waiting for. A complete repeal of restrictions would lead to mass death, they said. Would it? Did the lockdowns really control the virus? We would soon find out, he theorized. 

I knew better. The “test” of whether and to what extent lockdowns control the virus or “suppress outbreaks” (in Anthony Fauci’s words) has been tried all over the world. Every serious empirical examination has shown that the answer is no. 

The US has many examples of open states that have generally had better performance in managing the disease than those states that are closed. Georgia already opened on April 24, 2020. South Dakota never shut down. South Carolina opened in May. Florida ended all restrictions in September. In every case, the press howled about the coming slaughter that did not happen. Yes, each open state experienced a seasonality wave in winter but so did the lockdown states. 

So it was in Texas. Thanks to this Twitter thread, and some of my own googling, we have a nice archive of predictions about what would happen if Texas opened. 

• California Governor Gavin Newsom said that opening Texas was “absolutely reckless.”
• Gregg Popovich, head coach of the NBA San Antonio Spurs, said opening was “ridiculous” and “ignorant.”
• CNN quoted an ICU nurse saying “I’m scared of what this is going to look like.”
• Vanity Fair went over the top with this headline: “Republican Governors Celebrate COVID Anniversary With Bold Plan to Kill Another 500,000 Americans.”
• There was the inevitable Dr. Fauci: “It just is inexplicable why you would want to pull back now.”
• Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke of Texas revealed himself to be a full-blown lockdowner: It’s a “big mistake,” he said. “It’s hard to escape the conclusion that it’s also a cult of death.” He accused the governor of “sacrificing the lives of our fellow Texans … for political gain.”
• James Hamblin, a doctor and writer for the Atlantic, said in a Tweet liked by 20K people: “Ending precautions now is like entering the last miles of a marathon and taking off your shoes and eating several hot dogs.”
• Bestselling author Kurt Eichenwald flipped out: “Goddamn. Texas already has FIVE variants that have turned up: Britain, South Africa, Brazil, New York & CA. The NY and CA variants could weaken vaccine effectiveness. And now idiot @GregAbbott_TX throws open the state.” He further called the government “murderous.” 
• Epidemiologist Whitney Robinson wrote: “I feel genuinely sad. There are people who are going to get sick and die bc of avoidable infections they get in the next few weeks. It’s demoralizing.”
• Pundit Bill Kristol (I had no idea that he was a lockdowner) wrote: “Gov. Abbott is going to be responsible for more avoidable COVID hospitalizations and deaths than all the undocumented immigrants coming across the Texas border put together.”
• Health pundit Bob Wachter said the decision to open was “unforgivable.”
• Virus guru Michael Osterholm told CNN: “We’re walking into the mouth of the monster. We simply are.”
• Joe Biden famously said that the Texas decision to open reflected “Neanderthal thinking.”
• Nutritionist Eric Feigl-Ding said that the decision makes him want to “vomit so bad.”
• The chairman of the state’s Democratic Party said: “What Abbott is doing is extraordinarily dangerous. This will kill Texans. Our country’s infectious-disease specialists have warned that we should not put our guard down, even as we make progress towards vaccinations. Abbott doesn’t care.”
• Other state Democrats said in a letter that the decision was “premature and harmful.”
• The CDC’s Rochelle Walensky didn’t mince words: “Please hear me clearly: At this level of cases with variants spreading, we stand to completely lose the hard-earned ground we have gained. I am really worried about reports that more states are rolling back the exact public health measures we have recommended to protect people from COVID-19.”

There are probably hundreds more such warnings, predictions, and demands, all stated with absolute certainty that basic social and market functioning is a terrible idea. The lockdown lobby was out in full force. And yet what do we see now more than two weeks out (and arguably the lockdowns died on March 2, when the government announced the decision)? 

Here are the data. 

The CDC has a very helpful tool that allows anyone to compare open vs closed states. The results are devastating for those who believe that lockdowns are the way to control a virus. In this chart we compare closed states Massachusetts and California with open states Georgia, Florida, Texas, and South Carolina. 

What can we conclude from such a visualization? It suggests that the lockdowns have had no statistically observable effect on the virus trajectory and resulting severe outcomes. The open states have generally performed better, perhaps not because they are open but simply for reasons of demographics and seasonality. The closed states seem not to have achieved anything in terms of mitigation. 

On the other hand, the lockdowns destroyed industries, schools, churches, liberties and lives, demoralizing the population and robbing people of essential rights. All in the name of safety from a virus that did its work in any case. 

As for Texas, the results so far are in.

I’m making no predictions about the future path of the virus in Texas. Indeed for a full year, AIER has been careful about not trying to outguess this virus, which has its own ways, some predictable and some mysterious. The experience has, or should have, humbled everyone. Political arrangements seem to have no power to control it, much less finally suppress it. The belief that it was possible to control people in order to control a virus produced a calamity unprecedented in modern times. 

What’s striking about all the above predictions of infections and deaths is not just that they were all wrong. It’s the arrogance and confidence behind each of them. After a full year and directly observing the inability of “nonpharmaceutical interventions” to manage the pathogen, the experts are still wedded to their beloved lockdowns, unable or unwilling to look at the data and learn anything from them. 

The concept of lockdowns stemmed from a faulty premise: that you can separate humans, like rats in cages, and therefore control and even eradicate the virus. After a year, we unequivocally know this not to be true, something that the best and wisest epidemiologists knew all along. Essential workers still must work; they must go home to their families, many in crowded living conditions. Lockdowns do not eliminate the virus, they merely shift the burden onto the working class.  

Now we can see the failure in black, white, and full color, daily appearing on our screens courtesy of the CDC. Has that shaken the pro-lockdown pundit class? Not that much. What an amazing testament to the stubbornness of elite opinion and its bias against basic freedoms. They might all echo the words of Groucho Marx: “Who are you going to believe, me or your own eyes?”
