At first, it seemed too absurd to
believe. Surely, there must be more to the story than meets the eye.
It turns out that what was reported
was quite accurate: a Christian pro-life leader in England was arrested not
simply for standing in front of an abortion clinic. She was also arrested for
the crime of praying while standing there, even though she was simply praying
in her own head. Talk about being prosecuted for a “thought crime.” This really
and truly happened.
In the words of Isabel
Vaughan-Spruce, leader of the UK March for Life, “It’s abhorrently wrong that I
was searched, arrested, interrogated by police and charged simply for praying
in the privacy of my own mind. Nobody should be criminalized for thinking and
for praying, in a public space in the UK.” ..................“In yet another
assault on Christianity in Britain, a pro-life activist was arrested for
silently praying outside an abortion clinic in Birmingham, England.” Embedded in the article was...... a video of the arrest. ...............Do I need to add my standard caveat, “I’m not making this
up!”?
She wasn't confronting anyone, she wasn't blocking the way for anyone, and in point of fact she was doing nothing except standing and thinking. These kind of violations aren't restricted to "silent" praying either. It turns out the City of Birmingham have passed laws that criminalize any who may be "perceived" to be engaging in anything someone doesn't like, especially if the "someone" is a leftist misfit, much like these police and the city officials. But in England Muslims can have mass prayer time blocking entire streets and not only are they not arrested, the police protect them.
There is no "Constitution" as we know it in the UK:
"The United Kingdom constitution

regulate the relationship between the state and the individual. These
laws and rules are not codified in a single, written document."
In short, nothing is real, nothing is permanent, nothing is guaranteed and everything is subject to caveats of the moment, which we're seeing taking place in the courts of America. There is no Bill of Rights as exists in the US Constitution. The English Bill of Rights of 1689 really only dealt with government rights and restrictions, and so too did the original US Constitution, not the rights of individuals. That's why America's religious leaders pushed for the Ten Amendments. Those deal with the rights of individuals, unalienable rights that were derived from God, not from the state.
England has no such thing, and unlike America where our rights are derived from God, any "rights" in the UK are derived from Parliament and the King, and they have no right to individual Freedom of Religion or Freedom of Speech rights as we know them encoded in law. Is it any wonder the Canada Free Press states, "Because without America, there is no free world."
However, the Brits are in violation of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights Article 10 dealing with Freedom of Speech in that, “everyone
has the right to freedom of expression”. The only problem is, once again, there are caveats. These so-called freedoms “may be subject to formalities, conditions,
restrictions or penalties as are prescribed by law and are necessary in a
democratic society”.
In short, these aren't freedoms at all, it's all just wall paper that can be changed by the next philosophical flavor of the moment, especially when it comes to Judaic/Christian values and those individuals who hold those values.
Freedom of Religion has never been an enumerated right for
the Brits, nor has Freedom of Speech, but one has to wonder where did all these civil rights groups disappear to now. Make no mistake, this kind of leftist insanity is here now, and it's happening here now, and all round the world and all these "rights" groups were formed to destroy those rights by using our own values against us.
Suppression of speech, thought and religion has been foundational in everything the left has been working for in America for over 120 years, and there is no tolerance for Judaic/Christian belief, principles or practices in this New World Order, and it started with public education over 120 years ago.

I’m partial to the image I created, of course, but let’s look at a real-world example that is very compelling.
In an article about Tory tax policy for the U.K.-based Telegraph,
Charlotte Gifford included a graph showing that a family with two
children can have more disposable income with an income of £99,000
rather than an income of £144,000.
In other words, there’s a de facto 100 percent tax rate on the additional £45,000.
At the risk of understatement, there’s not much incentive to earn
more income if the government imposes a de facto 100 percent tax rate.
High-earning parents are better off only working four
days a week as bizarre tax rules mean it no longer pays to work. …One of
the biggest distortions in the tax system occurs once a parent earns
more than £100,000. …One
reader told The Telegraph they were considering shortening their
working week from five days to four after realising they would keep more
of their pay by earning £92,000 as opposed to £115,000. Reducing the
working week makes perfect financial sense for many parents earning
£100,000 or more. By working fewer days they would not only dodge the
tax trap but also cut their childcare costs, which currently average at
£285 per week full-time, or £13,695 a year.
If you want details, the de facto 100 percent-plus tax rate is the combined result of three factors.
A statutory tax rate of 40 percent.
The government’s clawback of the value of the personal allowance,
pushing the effective marginal tax rate up to 60 percent. As stated in
the article, “Once someone’s salary hits £100,000 they lose the personal
allowance at a rate of £1 for every £2 until it disappears at
£125,140.”
The loss of a government handout. As Ms. Gifford wrote, “…once a
parent earns more than £100,000…they lose their entitlement to free
childcare… This creates a perverse incentive for parents earning £99,000
to turn down a pay rise so they can hold on to the government benefit.”
When the government makes it less attractive for people to be more
productive and earn more income, they respond by…drum roll, please…being
less productive and not earning more income.
Which means less taxable income for the government (hello, Laffer Curve).

transport her and care for her, on the chance that treatment would be
successful." Italy even offered to give the child Italian citizenship. All refused! What gave these monsters the right to make such a decision!
The father is quoted as saying:
"When I was
in the court, I felt as if hell pulled at me. I thought that if hell
exists, then heaven must exist too.". The parents while not religious made
the decision to have their baby baptized "so that she could be happy in
heaven even if she was heartlessly made to die on earth."
So many no longer subscribe to the Judaic/Christian values that created western civilization, in Britain, or in Europe as a whole. Now the state is playing God! Whether one is religious or not, this story should outrage you, and it should touch your heart. I still believe someone is watching.
The British economy recently has been hammered by rising prices for the same reason that the American economy and the Eurozone economies were hurt by inflation.
Simply stated, central bankers engaged in reckless monetary policy.
For purposes of today’s column, the main lesson to be learned, as Milton Friedman taught us many years ago, is that “inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon.”
But lets focus on a practical application of that lesson, which is
that politicians should not inaccurately blur the lines between monetary
policy and fiscal policy.
I’m motivated to address this issue because of a story, written by Kylie Maclellan and Andy Bruce, that was published last week by Reuters.
British finance minister Jeremy Hunt said…he would not
implement tax cuts that would push up inflation… Hunt…hopes will revive
the fortunes of both a stagnant British economy and the governing
Conservatives…
He has been under pressure from some Conservative
lawmakers who,
alarmed at the opposition Labour Party’s big lead in opinion polls,
have demanded he deliver tax cuts.
“We do want to bring down the tax
burden but we will only do so responsibly,” Hunt told Sky News. “The one
thing we won’t do is any kind of tax cut that fuels inflation.” …Hunt’s
options are limited after heavy state spending on the COVID-19
pandemic…
“If we’re going to be a dynamic, thriving, energetic, fizzing
economy, we need to have a lower tax burden,” Hunt told Times Radio,
adding that the only way to bring personal taxes down was to spend
public money more efficiently.
Mr. Hunt is wrong to imply that tax cuts have anything to do with inflation.
Which leads us to ask why he would create a false linkage. There are two possible explanations.
He thinks Keynesianism, with its misguided focus on aggregate demand, is the correct way of understanding the economy.
He doesn’t want significant tax cuts and is using inflation as an excuse so that his party can continue to spend more money.
For what it’s worth, both explanations are probably accurate, which
explains why the U.K. Conservative Party is in such bad shape and will
be resoundingly – and deservedly – defeated in the next election.

Good parents do everything in their power to protect their children. But what happens when the government takes that power away? Once again, the United Kingdom has given us the answer. Dean Gregory and Claire Staniforth, a
British couple from the Derbyshire region, are grieving the death of
their infant daughter Indi, who passed away on Nov. 13
after suffering from a mitochondrial disease. But baby Indi’s illness
isn’t what killed her. The blames lies at the feet of the U.K.
government.
Doctors from the National Health
Service (NHS) determined that Indi’s treatment at the Queen’s Medical
Centre could no longer continue, citing concerns about the pain caused by “prolong[ing]” her life. The case went to the Family Division of the High Court in London, wherea doctor (unnamed in media reports) reported, “We feel very sad…. We have tried to treat [Indi] to the best of our abilities.” Despite that fatal determination,Indi’s parents felt her life was worth fighting for. “Our daughter responds to us,”pleaded her father,
“and on her good days, she is babbling, making noises, moving all her
limbs…. We know she is disabled, but you don’t just let disabled people
die. We just want to give her a chance.”
That chance was stolen from Indi and
her parents. Not only was she denied life-saving treatment from the NHS,
but she was also cruelly prevented from obtaining it elsewhere. In her
final days, Indi and her family became prisoners of the U.K. government.
Indi was offered an alternative by
the Italian government and the Vatican. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia
Meloni offered not only free health care to the child but even
transportation and Italian citizenship.Meloni urged the British government to “defend the right of [Indi’s] mom and dad to do whatever they can for her.”
In response, Gregory and Staniforth jumped at the lifeline. They
requested that their daughter be allowed to be treated at Rome’s
renowned Bambino Gesù (Baby Jesus) Pediatric Hospital, which is “under the jurisdiction of the Holy See.” According to the Washington Post,
doctors there offered a treatment that they said “would ‘more likely
than not’ enable Indi to survive without artificial ventilation.”
Unfortunately, Justice Robert Peel
denied the request, claiming that Indi’s “best interests” would be
served by withdrawing treatment — that is, by letting her die in

(GCHQ) – have banned white people

If you want to power our modern economy on intermittent renewables (wind and solar), and also banish the use of power from fossil fuels and nuclear, then the only option remaining to make the grid work reliably is energy storage on a massive scale. And then it turns out that energy storage on the scale needed is enormously costly — almost certainly so costly that it will in the end sink the entire “net zero” project.
Failure adequately to address the energy storage problem is the fatal defect of nearly all “net zero” plans that are out there. For an example of a thoroughly incompetent treatment of this problem, you might look at New York’s so-called “Scoping Plan” for its mandated “net zero” transition. This Scoping Plan was issued quite recently in December 2022. As examples of its stunning incompetence, it almost entirely discusses the storage problem in the wrong units (watts versus watt-hours), and regularly posits the imminent emergence of magical “dispatchable emissions-free resources,” that have not yet been invented, to cover the gaps in wind and solar generation. The people who issued this Plan have no idea what they are doing, and are setting up New York for an energy catastrophe some time between now and 2030.
But now along comes a report from Royal Society addressing this energy storage problem in the context of Great Britain. The Report came out earlier this month, and has been brought to my attention by my colleagues at the Global Warming Policy Foundation. The title is “Large-scale energy storage.”
Having now put some time into studying this Report, I would characterize it as semi-competent. That is an enormous improvement over every other effort on this subject that I have seen from green energy advocates. But despite their promising start, the authors come nowhere near a sufficient showing that wind plus solar plus storage can make a viable and cost-effective electricity system. In the end, their quasi-religious commitment to a fossil-fuel-free future leads them to minimize and divert attention away from critical cost and feasibility issues. As a result, the Report, despite containing much valuable information, is actually useless for any public policy purpose.
On the plus side of the ledger for this Report, the authors use the correct units to calculate the amount of energy storage needed to back up intermittent wind and solar generation; and their arithmetic appears correctly done as far as I have checked. Also a plus is that it takes them almost no time to conclude that there is essentially no possibility that battery technology will ever be able to solve the energy storage problem for a nation’s grid powered by intermittent sources, no matter how much the technology may improve and no matter how much its costs may decrease.
But then there are the negatives. The authors share the conceit of all green energy advocates — and of all central planners everywhere — that their models and projections have anticipated all costs and problems of their massive schemes. And thus, they think, they know all the answers to how this will work, and can dispense with the tiresome need for any physical demonstration project to prove function and cost. And then there is the discussion, or lack thereof, of ultimate cost to the consumer of these grand plans. The treatment of this subject is inadequate, and characterized by what appears to be an effort to divert the reader’s attention from the subject before too many questions are asked.
But let’s start with some pluses. This is from the “Major conclusions” section of the Executive Summary, page 5:
Wind supply can vary over time scales of decades and tens of TWhs of very long- duration storage will be needed. The scale is over 1000 times that currently provided by pumped hydro in the UK, and far more than could conceivably be provided by conventional batteries.
Go to the body of the Report, and you find that the authors have collected data on generation from wind and solar sources Great Britain over a 37 year period, 1980-2016. Those data show that the intermittency problems of wind and solar generation are far worse than even I had thought. In additional to diurnal and even annual cycles, there prove to be periods of relatively low wind that can persist literally for years. To deal with such situations requires putting huge amounts of energy in storage and then keeping it there for years, maybe decades, in anticipation of these low wind years.
Here is one of my favorite charts from the Report. It depicts the storage balance in a hypothetical 123,000 GWh storage facility for Great Britain over the 37 year period 1980 to 2016. The storage balance never goes much below about 80,000 GWh during the 23 year period 1984 to 2006 — which might have led the incautious to conclude that about half as much storage would be sufficient. But then there was a big low-wind period from 2009-2011:
The authors describe the situation as follows (page 31):
Figure 13 exhibits two striking features. First, a study of the 23 years 1984 – 2006 would have found a storage volume very much smaller than found by studying 1980 – 2016. Second, there is a very large call on storage in the period 2009 – 2011 which reflects persistently low wind speeds that lead to the large deficits seen in figure 2 (some of the energy that fills these deficits would have been in the store since 1980). These features reinforce the conclusion that it would be prudent to add contingency against prolonged periods of very low supply and the possible greater clustering of 2009 to 2011-like years.
As a result of observations like this, the authors, I think correctly, conclude that batteries are completely out of the question to solve this problem. The only storage medium that could conceivably work would be a combustible chemical substance that can be put in massive underground facilities for decades. Only two possibilities are out there — hydrogen and ammonia. And ammonia is far more expensive and far more dangerous. So that leaves hydrogen.
Since hydrogen is the one and only possible solution to the storage problem, the authors proceed to a lengthy consideration of what the future wind/solar/hydrogen electricity system will look like. There will be massive electroayzers to get hydrogen from the sea. Salt deposits will be chemically dissolved to create vast underground caverns to store the hydrogen. Hydrogen will be transported to these vast caverns and stored there for years and decades, then transported to power plants to burn when needed. A fleet of power plants will burn the hydrogen when called upon to do so, although admittedly they may be idle most of the time, maybe even 90% of the time; but for a pinch, there must be sufficient thermal hydrogen-burning plants to supply the whole of peak demand when needed.
I find the treatment of the potential cost of all of this to be totally inadequate. There is never a mention of the most relevant subject, which is how much electricity prices to consumers might increase. The closest thing I find is this chart on page 32:
This is cost “to the grid,” thus wholesale cost. Will there be a huge multiplication of final price to the consumer? At first glance this doesn’t look too bad. About 50 pounds/MWh for the wind/solar input, and then 60-70 pounds/MWh for the storage makes about 110-120 pounds/MWh total. Add about 33% to convert to dollars, and you would have about $143-156/MWh, or 14.3 to 15.6 cents per kWh. It’s high, but not completely in the stratosphere.
But wait a minute. Are these guys leaving anything out?
How about the entire new fleet of thermal power plants, capable of burning 100% hydrogen, and sufficient to meet 100% of peak demand when it’s night and the wind isn’t blowing.
They use a 5% interest rate for capital costs. That’s too low by at least half — should be 10% or more.
And can they really build all the wind turbines and solar panels and electroayzers they are talking about at the prices they are projecting?
The whole thing just cries out for a demonstration project to prove feasibility and cost. I’m betting that that will never occur before the whole “net zero” thing falls apart from the disaster of skyrocketing electricity prices. Time will tell.

My last post discussed a new Report out from the UK’s Royal Society in early September, with the title “Large-scale electricity storage.” The Report describes and models how the UK might build out a “net zero” electricity system for Great Britain. The proposed system would consist of generation entirely from wind and solar sources, with the intermittency backed up only from energy storage and without any use of fossil fuels.
To its credit, the Report dabbles in reality on the subject of how to store sufficient amounts of energy and for a long enough period of time. It considers the various sorts of battery storage that might be used, and concludes that none of them could remotely handle the task at affordable cost. After also considering ammonia as a potential energy storage medium (too costly and dangerous), the Report concludes that the only viable alternative for the storage piece is hydrogen.
Here, from the Executive Summary, is the headline conclusion from the Report:
In 2050 Great Britain’s demand for electricity could be met by wind and solar energy supported by large-scale storage. . . . Meeting the need for long-duration storage will require very low cost per unit energy stored. In GB, the leading candidate is storage of hydrogen in solution-mined salt caverns. . . .
The Report then proceeds to a treatment of the prospective costs of this system. Unfortunately, that treatment of costs is perfunctory and thoroughly inadequate. Ultimate electricity prices to the consumer are not even mentioned. There is brief discussion of how much this system, based on projected costs, would charge as a wholesale price to the grid. However, there are obvious gaps in that analysis (discussed in my prior post), and one commenter suggests that the Report’s guesstimated costs could be off by as much as a factor of ten.
Unlike the authors of this Report, I would not claim to know what the costs of this proposed system might be. But I can see that the proposed system would be very large, very complex, that it has never been tried before, that it has many elements that are novel and will need to be designed from scratch. In the real world, things with these characteristics have a way of costing a multiple of what their proponents claim they will cost.
In promoting that Great Britain should move toward a fully wind/solar/storage electricity system by 2050, the Royal Society is essentially advocating that every one of GB’s 65 million or so inhabitants shall be made guinea pigs for a system that may or may not work and whose unanticipated costs could be enormous. No responsible government would ever go down such a road.
There is an obvious alternative approach: Build a demonstration project to establish feasibility and cost.
Once hydrogen made by electrolysis from water has been selected as the storage medium, it is not difficult to envision what the demonstration project will consist of. Pick a town or region of about 65,000 people, or about 0.1% of the population of GB. For the backup, build a modest-sized thermal power plant for burning the hydrogen (when needed) of about 60 MW nameplate capacity. Then dedicate to the project wind turbines sufficient to generate the entire electricity usage of the 65,000 people over the course of a year, plus all the losses in hydrogen production and storage. This will probably require something like 300 MW of wind turbines (nameplate capacity). The output of the wind turbines will either go to direct supply, or when in excess will feed electrolyzers to make the hydrogen.
You will need to procure the electrolyzers, and also create a big enough salt cavern to store hydrogen to cover these people for at least a couple of months in the event of wind drought. Don’t forget the water purification system to make the sea water pure enough to be electrolyzed. And of course add in pipelines to take the hydrogen to the salt cavern and from there to the thermal power plant when needed.
Now you have all the elements to be the equivalent of a dispatchable fossil fuel-burning thermal plant. If it turns out that you have underestimated the amount of hydrogen you need to keep this going all the time, and you need to build facilities to make more hydrogen, well now you know.
I suspect that this system for the size specified could be built for a few tens of billions of pounds. That will be very expensive. But it will be the best tens of billions of pounds you have ever spent, because when it shows that this system costs five or ten times what the existing system costs to produce the same electricity, it will be abandoned. And the people will have been spared decades of impoverishment. And, if it turns out that the system can be built at some modest premium to the current system (unlikely), then at least a rational debate can be had as to whether this premium is worth spending for the slight “climate” benefits.
Meanwhile, there continues to be no demonstration project anywhere in the world of a wind/solar/storage electricity system that can keep the lights on through the year without fossil fuel backup. The Gorona del Viento project (wind turbines and a pumped storage reservoir) on El Hierro Island off Spain fails worse and worse every year. From its website, here is its stated objective:
Gorona del Viento, El Hierro, S.A.´s Wind-Pumped Hydro Power Station is designed to supply the Meridian Island with electrical energy derived from clean, renewable energy sources such as water and wind. The Wind Farm has capacity to fully meet El Hierro´s demand for electricity.
But at the data section of the website, we find this chart:
There are 8760 hours in a year (8784 in a leap year like 2020). So in 2019 they got all of their electricity from the wind/hydro system about 26% of the time. Then that dropped to under 22% of the time in 2020, and less than 15% of the time in 2021. Some time in 2022 they stopped reporting the data. Now they blare out baloney about “tons of carbon emissions saved” while running the backup diesel generator fully 85% of the time.
If anybody thought that the demonstration project I proposed could be built at reasonable cost to make a profit, then multiple entrepreneurs would already be building these things. Meanwhile the costs are buried so no one can figure them out.
We have a desperate need for a real demonstration project. UK, you are the one to do it!

The last time we heard from Tommy Robinson was early last year. In a revealing documentary called The Rape of Britain, he
took us to the town of Telford, England (population 142,000), where
Muslim gang members had raped innumerable white girls while local police

promise to ban the Communist Chinese satellite propaganda Confucius
Institutes in the latest brazen attempt to curry favour with Beijing. Despite promising during the Tory leadership contest last year to ban Confucius Institutes, which are directly funded by the CCP’s propaganda department, from operating in Britain Downing Street has decided to backtrack on this pledge. “We are taking action to remove all government funding from Confucius
Institutes in the UK, but currently judge that it would be
disproportionate to ban them,” a Number 10 spokesman is quoted as saying by the Financial Times. Like any international body operating in the UK, Confucius Institutes
need to operate transparently and within the law, and with a full
commitment to our values of openness and freedom of expression. “We recognise concerns about overseas interference in
our higher education sector, including through Confucius Institutes,

I have been very pessimistic
in recent years about the United Kingdom. Now, having just finished
giving speeches in Bristol and London, I’m even more pessimistic.
The core problem is that the burden of government spending has expanded dramatically in recent years, in part because of the pandemic.
But there’s been no move to undo the damage. Instead, the
(supposedly) conservative governments of Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak
have kept the spigots open.
And this does not even include all the additional spending that almost surely will get added because of demographic change.
Sadly, none of the experts I met with on my trip expressed much hope of reversing the nation’s fiscal decline.
Indeed, most of them have a a glum outlook. Including the ones I didn’t talk to. For instance, Fiona Bulmer authored some depressing analysis for CapX about the U.K.’s faux conservatives.
Now a Tory government boasts that it is spending “£407
billion on support for families, jobs and businesses”, borrowing is at
its highest level since the war – and that’s only the start. …Ministers,
commentators, the Bank of England…seem to believe that we have now
finally created a climate in which the magic money tree can flourish. …spending
discipline has been completely abandoned over the past year. …We used
to believe that individuals and businesses would always be better at
spending their own money than government, instead we must now celebrate
that the Department of Transport is giving people £50 vouchers to get
their bikes mended. The problem is that once public spending becomes
celebrated as a virtue then the culture of cost constraint disappears
and every part of government will adopt the Oliver Twist approach and
constantly come back for more.
As you might expect, governments that spend too much also have bad tax systems.
That certainly is true in the United Kingdom. But, as reported by the Economist, the U.K. seemingly tries to make taxes as punitive as possible.
People in England, Wales and Northern Ireland pay a basic
rate of income tax of 20% on annual earnings over £12,570 ($15,612)…
Britons must also pay national-insurance contributions (NICs)
of 12% of weekly earnings over £242… Recent university graduates with
student debt must pay an additional 9% on anything they earn over
£27,295. A 40% income-tax rate kicks in at slightly over £50,000, which
is when parents also begin to be taxed on a welfare payment known as
child benefit.
The result can be a 60% marginal tax rate for those with two children
and a 70% rate for those with three. For every £1 earned above £100,000,
you lose 50p of the £12,570 tax-free allowance; the allowance falls to
zero if your income is £125,140 or more. That means at least a 60%
marginal tax rate for high-earning taxpayers—rising to over 100% for
parents who start losing tax-free child-care benefits as well.
…Value-added tax…is levied at a 20% rate on most final purchases by
consumers. …Britain has some of the highest taxes on property of any
country in the OECD.
Is there any hope of fixing this mess?
That is unlikely, given the profligacy of today’s Tory politicians.
But there is a solution if any of them eventually decide to be on the side of taxpayers. Writing for CapX, Gavin Rice opines that it is time to reform the welfare state and limit spending growth.
Despite Thatcher’s revolutionary attempt to shift
responsibility back onto individuals and families, …the welfare state
has grown and grown. Since 1948, welfare spending has risen from £11bn
to well over £200bn, in today’s money – that’s 18 times more spent on
social security than under Clement Attlee’s supposedly socialist Labour
government.
…spending…has also risen as a proportion of national income from around
4% in 1947 to over 10% by 2019, and is projected to rise to over 12% by
2065. …to sustain even pre-Covid spending habits over the medium term,
the Office for Budget Responsibility has estimated that taxes would need
to rise by one third in order to stabilise debt… Britain has an
‘inverse pyramid’ society with a minority of working adults sustaining a
majority of economically inactive citizens. …when public spending
requirements outstrip that growth, there’s a problem.
Since it reflects my Golden Rule, I particularly appreciate the last sentence in the above excerpt.
But I don’t appreciate how recent British Prime Ministers have violated that rule.
Makes me wonder whether Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak are doing more damage to good fiscal policy in the U.K. than George Bush and Donald Trump did to good fiscal policy in the U.S.?
