Squad’s Success in Moving Democrats on Israel Portends Trouble on Other Issues

During the latest battle between Israel and Hamas, I wrote about how the Democratic Party, which used to be Israel’s greatest defender, has turned against the Jewish state. Even formally strong supporters of Israel, like Senator Chuck Schumer, have been taking a powder, staying silent in the face of criticism of Israel by such far-left, pro-Palestine terrorist-sympathizers as Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and the so-called Squad.

Such figures as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, Jamaal Bowman, and Cori Bush have pushed the Democratic Party out of Israel’s camp. Not all Democrats, by any means. The party, though, is not what it was on this issue. It’s the GOP that is now Israel’s great defender.

This tectonic political shift was triggered in large part by President Trump. He kept his promise to move our embassy to Jerusalem and led the negotiations that won the Abraham Accords. Ilhan Omar Equates US and Israel with Hamas and Taliban. Here’s why she’s wrong.

The fiercely patriotic and morally scrupulous Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Hypocrisy) showed yet again Monday that she is a master at appealing to the Democratic Party’s core constituency. She tweeted:

“We must have the same level of accountability and justice for all victims of crimes against humanity. We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban. I asked [Secretary of State Antony Blinken] where people are supposed to go for justice.” 

Yes, that’s right: she equated the United States and Israel, both of which go out of their way to avoid civilian casualties, with jihad terror groups that target civilians and use them as human shields. Where are people supposed to go for justice? Not to Ilhan Omar.

While it is entirely within the realm of possibility that the forces of the United States and Israel may at various times have committed “unthinkable atrocities,” there is one immediate difference between them and Hamas and the Taliban: in the U.S. and Israel, those who commit “unthinkable atrocities,” such as intentionally targeting civilians out of pure malice and hatred, with no conceivable military objective, are arrested and tried, and dishonorably discharged from the military if found guilty. 

Hamas and the Taliban, by contrast, celebrate people who target civilians among those who are considered the “enemy” as heroes. Pelosi Condemns Ilhan Omar for Comparing Israel, U.S. to Hamas and the Taliban

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and her leadership team issued a joint statement criticizing comments from Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) that compared the United States and Israel with terrorist groups such as Hamas and the Taliban. 

"Legitimate criticism of the policies of both the United States and Israel is protected by the values of free speech and democratic debate. And indeed, such criticism is essential to the strength and health of our democracies," stated Pelosi along with Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD), Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC), Assistant Speaker Katherine Clark (D-MA), Caucus Chair Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), and Caucus Vice Chair Pete Aguilar (D-CA).

Will the Squad’s Implosion Fracture the Democrats?

Over the last few years, it has been considered a truism that the energy in the Democratic Party comes from the far Left, largely in the person of the Squad headed by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib. 'Squad' Member Cori Bush Wants Biden To Grant Clemency To Everybody On Death Row

The ‘Squad’s’ newest member Cori Bush is demanding President-elect Joe Biden move to grant clemency to everybody currently sitting on death row.  Bush’s view shows once again that there isn’t any level of criminal the group won’t embrace.  The Missouri Democrat made her views clear in an op-ed with Time Magazine on Monday.

“If [Biden] truly opposes the death penalty,” she wrote, “he must do everything in his power to stop it for good. Granting clemency to all on federal death row is his most effective tool.”

Bush went on to describe the death penalty as “murder in the name of justice” and drew a link between it and the dark stain of racism in American history.

“Ending the death penalty is about justice,” she argued, seemingly unaware that families of their victims need justice as well. “It’s about mercy. It’s about putting a stop to this nation’s dark history of lynching and slavery.”

Squad breaks from leash, prepares to devour Nancy Pelosi

How do we describe this sudden and irrational "impeach Trump" feeding frenzy coming from House speaker Nancy Pelosi? Take a look at what the Federalist suspects: that Pelosi has lost control of her "Squad" of far-left socialist-totalitarian activists.  According to George S. Bardmesser, a Washington attorney who knows the ways of the swamp:

My Take - This bickering among these leftist loons is to be expected.  But even for a heretic such as Nancy Pelosi this is stooping so low I have to quote what Sir Thomas More said the movie "A Man For All Season" regarding Sir Richard Rich being made Attorney General for Wales as a reward for his perjured testimony that condemned him:

Understanding Why 'The Squad' Screams 'Racism'

It’s not “racism” to hold people accountable for their words.

If you knew somebody who told you, over and over, “I hate you. I can’t stand the sight of you. I don’t want to be anywhere near you. You are evil, rotten and depraved,” it would not be racist to say, “Well, go then.”

These horrible women elected to Congress by profoundly ignorant people are not the victims of racism. Racism is when you single out someone for their race, and judge them as unfavorable (or favorable) because of their ancestry and genetics — and for no other reason.

That’s what THEY do. They say anyone who’s white cannot understand the plight of those who are not. What does anything cognitive — like understanding — have to do with one’s genetic make-up? To assert that is itself racism. They disparage Jews on a daily basis. They say 9/11 was not really a big deal. It was the biggest attack on American soil in history. It was the biggest attack on freedom in world history. They say all private property and wealth is theft, that it belongs to the government. They claim that to suggest otherwise is racist. What does race or racism have to do with your views on the morality and legality of private property? Why is President Trump put on the defensive for EVERYTHING — while progressive leftists are put on the defensive for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING?

ADL Chief Attacks President Trump... Again

Comes now Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt with his latest diatribe against the President of the United States. Greenblatt is very upset with Donald Trump. So upset, in fact, that he accused the President of -- stop me if you’ve heard this before -- xenophobia, white nationalism, and, of course, racism. Not only that, but now, according to Greenblatt, the President is “cynically using the Jewish people and the State of Israel to double down on his remarks.”

The Squad is laying bare the Democratic Party

The Squad has brought to the public debate the drastic change in the modern Democratic Party. We have had a Socialist Party since Norman Thomas, who ran for the presidency six times, but the Democratic and Republican Parties always agreed on the basic premise that our country's economy is based on free enterprise. We have a safety net of welfare programs, but there was never a serious dispute that free enterprise provides the best system for economic mobility and for producing the funds necessary to fund a safety net. Both parties understood that the free enterprise system is the best system to produce enough taxes for the government to spend for the programs favored by each party.

But today's national Democratic Party has embraced the socialist dogma. Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are the stars of the Democratic Party and have forced the Democratic presidential candidates to agree with their policies.

The Dems now stand for open borders, amnesty for illegal aliens, sanctuary cities and states, and abolition of ICE. Once again, Trump stands up for Americans who love their country.

With his usual flair for hyperbole and indifference to factual details, Donald Trump last week tweet-blasted the so-called “Squad” of female freshman Congressmen “of color” for slandering America as racist, sexist, xenophobic, Islamophobic, and numerous other empty epithets.

Though Trump was careless for suggesting, “Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came”––since only one, Ilhan Omar, was born abroad––his sentiment is still valid, and has been shared for decades by millions of Americans angry over their homeland being demonized by immigrants and fellow citizens alike.

This sentiment was memorably captured by country singer Merle Haggard in his hit “Fightin’ Side of Me.” Released in December 1969, the song expressed the anger of the “Silent Majority” that had just put Richard Nixon in the White House. And the lyrics identified who Americans were angry at: the free, comfortable New Leftists, college students, bougie hippies, and liberal elite fellow-travelers who burned the American Flag, slandered our soldiers as baby-killers, and called their country “AmeriKKKa.”

Haggard especially targeted the antiwar activists who insulted our troops even as they were fighting and dying, and who “love our milk and honey” but “preach about some other way of livin’.” Sound familiar? ........To Read More....

My Take - Trump has been criticized for his inaccuracies regarding the national orgin of this group, but in this case, the details are immaterial to the narrative.  I would think leftists would understand that, since that's their modus operandi. He made his point.  Whether they’re foreign born or not Article VI, clause 3 of the Constitution says:

“The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”

Do they really act like their loyalty is to the United States and the Constitution, or do they act like foreign agents working to undermine America? That’s why the details aren’t as important as the narrative. And that narrative resonated with America.
