A Culture that Celebrates Fake Heroes While Crucifying Real Ones Cannot Endure

“Believe in something,” Nike told consumers in 2018, “even it means sacrificing everything.”  The advertisement features former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick giving a stoic stare to those social justice warriors being spurred to buy the company’s product. 

In what may be the swiftest example of the Mandela Effect taking hold on the American cultural psyche, many Americans believe that Colin Kaepernick was headlong into a promising NFL future when he boldly decided to take a knee during the National Anthem in order to protest police brutality, and for this crime against the political and social status quo, he was ostracized by the racist NFL and its fans. 

The broad belief in this myth is much more pernicious and destructive, however, than our innocently misremembering that the Monopoly man wears a monocle.

And it is most certainly a myth.  The reality is that on August 26, 2016, Kaepernick decided to sit on the bench during the Anthem, not kneel.  Nothing ostentatious, and there was something almost childish about it, in fact.  Perhaps he didn’t like being benched for Blaine Gabbert, who was, according to Mike Foss at USA Today, possibly “the worst quarterback employed by the NFL” at the time, before he goes on to explain that he might have actually been the second-worst quarterback -- behind only the horrendously bad Kaepernick in 2015.

It wasn’t the first time that he sat during the Anthem, but it was the first time that reporters seem to have been struck by it enough to ask him about it.  When asked why he didn’t stand, he famously said, “I’m not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”   BLM, the MSM, and SJWs rejoiced, of course.  .............To Read More......

 

Wall Street giants moving toward using financial power to pressure cities to enforce SJW agenda

I doubt that we'll see a lot of leftists protesting against Wall Street titans bullying local governments now that the most powerful capitalist entities are joining to progressive racial agenda.  Some Wall Street bullying is more equal than other bullying, it would seem.  But this article from Bloomberg (hat tip: Ed Lasky) gives me the willies:

Some of Wall Street's biggest buyers of America's state and local government bonds are starting to ask questions about racial equity. Five investment giants — BlackRock Inc., Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Lord, Abbett & Co., Morgan Stanley Investment Management and Vanguard Group Inc. — are working with two minority-owned underwriters, Loop Capital Markets and Siebert Williams Shank & Co., to develop and distribute a questionnaire that governments will be asked to fill out before new bond deals are arranged. It will ask about policing policies, efforts to combat race-based inequality, social services and the demographic breakdown of the government's workforce, among other things.

"The pandemic has brought up the broad range of inequity in our society and it's important to understand how everyone is working on that," said Daniel Solender, head of municipal bonds at Lord, Abbett, which manages about $36 billion of the securities.

"We want to engage: we can ask questions, we can compare different issuers for what they're doing," Solender said. "It's important for us to know what we're investing in."  The push reflects the growing influence of the socially responsible investment business, with Wall Street funds eager to cater to investors seeking to use their funds to combat global warming or promote societal change. 

The industry has been making inroads into the $4 trillion municipal securities market, a slow moving haven of buy-and-hold investors seeking tax-free income. 

To be sure, this is only a first step: asking for data.  But the very fact of asking, when the request comes from the biggest funders of municipal debt, places pressure on municipal governments and public agencies that qualify for tax-exempt bonds to change (for example) hiring practices if not "enough" people of certain races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, etc. are not on their payrolls.............To Read More...

Oberlin's cultural rot went far beyond SJW politics into a 'culture of theft'

In the wake the landmark $44-million verdict against Oberlin College for defaming a five-generation family business, information is coming to light about the behavior of students and administrators at that once respectable institution that is simply appalling.  As throughout the entire story, Legal Insurrection is owed a huge thank-you for its deep dive into the evidence.

A revealed in a tweet from L.I., a 2017 article in a student publication at Oberlin, The Grape, discussed the predominance (over 80%!) of Oberlin students in shoplifting arrests in that small Ohio city...............

Let me restate this.

Oberlin students acted as predators on the larger community. The pervasiveness of the student culture that regarded shopkeepers as prey is indicated by the admission of the author that he himself had stolen from the people he interviewed.

 These students, whose yearly costs of attending Oberlin (70K) far exceed the average income of the surrounding community (55K), care not a whit about the people who work long and hard to serve them — all the time pretending that they are interested in "social justice."........Oberlin wanted its students to be granted something akin to extraterritoriality, exempt from law enforcement action in the town of Oberlin .........No wonder the jury exceeded the guidelines for punitive damages.  This is utterly appalling — a cancer on social order........ This week, Gillette ran an advertisement chastising “toxic” masculinity. The commercial depicted a bunch of men standing behind a row of barbecues while two boys grappled and fought. It depicted men sexually harassing women. It depicted men acting as bullies. It depicted a man inappropriately touching a woman in a boardroom and “mansplaining” her point of view. In short, it depicted a bunch of men being jerks.

Rush Limbaugh summarized, “It’s got one stereotype after another of what liberals claim is wrong with being a man. … [T]hey really believe that men are bad news as designed; that men in their natural state are predators; that men in their natural state exhibit masculinity that is toxic and dangerous to women and children, and it needs to be erased.”..........

 

Now here’s a question: Why would a company that caters almost exclusively to men alienate its customer base by telling men they’re bad and need fixing?..............The results of SJW leadership are rather hilarious (in a grim sort of way) since everything they touch gets ruined. My Take - This used to be called Corporate Social Responsibility. I don't hear that term any longer because after a while everyone sees how insane their thinking is and when the intellectual responses become so well thought out the left can't stand the heat, so then they adopt another term or phrase, to advance their agenda  This time it's Social Justice Warrior. 

 

They keep saying a company should get involved in social issues, and I agree with them.  If an owner wants to jump into some social narrative they should do so, and let them face the consequences, for their good or ill.  But Gillette isn't owned by "someone"!  Gillette is a publically traded company and they need to stay out of social issues because the executives have a fiduciary responsibility to the "owners", the stockholders.  That means keeping their opinions to themselves and do nothing that jepordizes the stockholders interests. 

 

Someone needs to be fired.  Starting with the Chief Operating Officer and/or the Chairman of the Board, and then working their way down to the idiot who hired this ad agency.  So who's to blame for the huge backlash?  Just ask them - It's the fault of men who are sexist and “threatened” by strong female leads.  Yeah, Right!  You just can't fix stupid.

'White racism' allegedly causing minorities to catch gonorrhea

Studies have shown that minorities have much higher incidences of gonorrhea and chlamydia than white people.  Whenever there is a racial disparity in anything, whether it is income, housing, or test scores, white racism is to blame. Therefore, it is no surprise that the L.A. Times is blaming the "gonorrhea gap" on white racism.  Gonorrhea cases have doubled in Los Angeles County, which is largely a minority population. People in L.A. County are also much more likely to have chlamydia than the general California population, which is relatively whiter than the population around Los Angeles.

Furthermore, within L.A. County, black women are two times likelier to catch syphilis than Hispanic women and six times likelier than white women........Of course! Because personal responsibility is never the issue, all cultures are the same, and someone else is always to blame – in this case, racism.

Would liberals be happy if white people had higher incidences of venereal disease so, statistically speaking, they would match minorities? Would we then truly be equal? How long will it be before social justice warrior activists call for white people to engage in unsafe sex practices to reduce the "unequal distribution of venereal disease," which disproportionately affects "brown and black people"? .......Read more

St. Louis Continues to Rage as Social “Justice” Eclipses Actual “Justice”

Once again, an American city is thrust into chaos at the behest of the radical left’s court of public opinion. This time it is St. Louis, where for the second night in a row police were forced to contend with angry mobs of liberal protesters who believe that their own opinions on the court system somehow outweigh the reality of a judge’s ruling.

The violence began shortly after former police officer Jason Stockley was acquitted in the shooting death of Anthony Lamar Smith in 2011 after a high speed chase. After domestic terror organization Black Lives Matter interjected unethical racial insinuations into the public hive mind, their litany of anarchy-loving followers chose to descend upon the streets of St. Louis seeking violence and upheaval. In their second night of abhorrent behavior, Black Lives Matter brought extreme chaos to the streets of Missouri..........This is just the latest in a long line of American anarchist organizations believing that their views on a court case constitute reality.  Black Lives Matter has been at the forefront of this perversion of the American justice system for years, demanding that cases in which they find themselves involved should be given special judicial treatment.

So far, 2017 has been the year of the offended.

For those that are puzzled or surprised by the outrageous response of SJWs and Antifa to those who don’t agree with them, it can be summed up primarily from their cultural ancestors having undermined and permeated every institution in the U.S. for a long time, and after having done so, only being able to manipulate or convince about half the nation of their viewpoint and political goals.
Whether it’s government, education, entertainment, or even the churches, they have stealthily became part of them, and when gaining a foothold, started adding friends of similar beliefs, and over time, gained control of the levers of power, and ultimately, to teach our children and grandchildren their way of life and belief system.........The key now is to maintain pressure on them and continue to engage them in battle in any way we are able to.
