Abortion and The Dimwits

On abortion, the Biden administration wears its ignorance like a badge of honor  - August 4, 2022  By Andrea Widburg - With the Dobbs decision, the Supreme Court said something very simple: Because the United States Constitution does not encompass abortion, the federal government has no say in the matter; it is purely an issue for the states. On Tuesday, voters in Kansas refused to adopt confusing language regarding limiting abortion rights. The Biden administration celebrated this outcome and then, speaking through a Joe Biden tweet and a Karine Jean-Pierre statement, proceeded to indicate that they don’t understand either the Dobbs decision or our constitutional system. As always, it’s a question of whether they’re really that dumb, whether they think we’re that dumb, or whether they just don’t care............However, I’m beginning to see the Biden genius in putting Karine Jean-Pierre in place as his press secretary because she is so extraordinarily dimwitted that even Biden’s most bizarre and banal pronouncements, by comparison, seem to have a certain wisdom:............

Here’s What the Liberal Media Missed About Kansas’ Abortion Vote - Matt Vespa Aug 03, 2022 - They’re just wrong. It’s sad how the liberal media is clinging to hope regarding this abortion vote in Kansas. The state rejected a pro-life amendment to the state constitution. If it passed, it would have paved the way for a potential outright ban on abortion in the state. The voter initiative went down in flames 58/41. So, of course, the national news media popped open champagne, declaring that this spells big trouble for Republicans. No, it doesn’t. This jubilation from the liberal media is a classic sign that we’re watching another episode of ‘inside the bubble.’.............

Harris: Administration ‘Looking at’ Travel Vouchers for Women to Receive Abortions

Pam Key 27 Jun 2022

Vice President Kamala Harris said Monday on CNN’s “The Lead” that in response to the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade, the Biden administration was “looking at” giving vouchers for travel expenses to women who leave their state to receive an abortion.

Anchor Dana Bash said, “What about the idea of financial resources? Some form of voucher for travel, child care services, other forms of support for people, for women seeking abortions in states where it’s not legal, but they just don’t have the means to go elsewhere.”

Harris said, “So this is something that we are looking at because we know, for example, in terms of how this is going to actually impact real people, over half of women who receive abortions in America are moms. That means that if they’re going to have to travel, they have to find daycare and pay for it. It means that they will if they are working, which most are, they’re going to have to have time from work, and if they don’t have paid leave, they are going to have to figure out how to afford it. It means they may have to put up money for a train or a bus or a plane, much less a hotel, and so we want to make sure that there does not result in extreme disparities or any disparities based on who can receive care based on how much money they’ve got.”.............To Read More.....

My Take - The Hyde Amendment prevents the federal government from using federal funds on abortion, and this would be part of that, however, Kamala is all over the media over this, and I'm wondering if this was sanctioned by the White House, or is this is an effort on her part to show she's capable of being President of the United States and laying groundwork for invoking the 25th Amendment on Biden after the 2022 elections and the Congress changes dramatically.  There's no love lost between them, and their staffs, so....could be!

Lloyd Austin needs to resign as Secretary of Defense

Jazz Shaw Jun 26, 2022

Since the announcement of the decision in Dobbs on Friday, elected officials and media personalities across the board have been weighing in with their own takes as you would expect. But one of the last people I would have expected to dive into the public debate was Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. And yet he somehow made the decision to wade into the Roe v Wade issue up to his hips. This turned out to be a very poor decision for several reasons, as we’ll see in a moment, but the question here goes far beyond one retired military officer’s personal views. The spectacle Austin created was simply damaging and Lloyd Austin needs to either resign or be fired, not that Joe Biden will make any such move. At Redstate, Mike Miller highlights Austin’s comments and points out how wrong he managed to get the entire affair..............But let’s just pretend for a moment that this was okay. Austin said he would ensure that his department will “continue to provide seamless access to reproductive health care as permitted by federal law.” Really?

That’s not a political policy. It’s because of the Hyde Amendment, which Lloyd Austin has apparently never heard of. All of the money consumed by the military comes from federal funds. Federal funds may not be used to pay for abortions in almost all cases. And as to Austin’s statement about “as permitted by federal law,” as of Friday there is no relevant federal law. Those decisions have been returned to the states, whether you agree with the resolution or not...........To Read More....

These Purple State House Members Want to Run for Senate, All While Supporting Taxpayer Funded Abortions

Rebecca Downs Rebecca Downs Sep 17, 2021

The fate of the Hyde Amendment, which protects taxpayers from having to fund elective abortions, still hangs in the balance, as Democrats in the House and the Senate are fiercely determined to repeal it. Likewise, Democrats also oppose the Weldon Amendment, which protects conscience protections of hospitals and providers that don't perform abortions. They're opposed to the Helms Amendment, too, which protects foreign aid from funding elective abortions overseas.

Such members of both the House and the Senate, specifically so-called moderate House Democrats who are running for purple Senate seats in 2022.

Rep. Val Demings (D-FL) announced in June  that she was challenging pro-life Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) for his Senate seat. Demings' pro-abortion record isn't merely apparent with her support for repealing Hyde, Weldon, and Helms. She is a co-sponsor of the Women's Health Protection Act (WHPA), which seeks to codify Roe v. Wade at the federal level..............To Read More..........

Dems describe saving unborn lives as ‘racist,’ target Hyde Amendment

But provision cited as 'one of few legal measures standing in the way of black genocide

By Mary Margaret Olohan Daily Caller News Foundation  March 25, 2021

Democratic senators plan to introduce legislation that would repeal the Hyde Amendment, arguing that the decades-old legislation is both “anti-choice” and “blatantly racist.”

The Equal Access to Abortion Coverage in Health Insurance Act will be introduced in Congress Thursday, the HuffPost reported, by Democratic Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth and Democratic California Sen. Barbara Lee. The legislation demands the reversal of the 1976 Hyde Amendment, which bans the use of federal funds for abortions.

Duckworth and Lee argue that the Hyde Amendment prevents low-income women and women of color from accessing abortions.

“This isn’t about what side you’re on in the abortion debate, it’s about equality and opportunity plain and simple,” Duckworth said Wednesday, HuffPost reported. “Whatever you think about the procedure, we should all agree that what’s legal for wealthy Americans should not be so inaccessible for Americans of color and low-income Americans.”...........To Read More.....
