Henry Kissinger, the Tallyrand of the Twentieth Century

Henry Kissinger, really was the Tallyrand of the twentieth century.  First, I think it wise to review who exactly was Charles Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord.

Talleyrand polarises opinion. Some regard him as one of the most versatile, skilled and influential diplomats in European history, while some believe that he was a traitor, betraying in turn the Ancien Régime, the French Revolution, Napoleon, as well as the Restoration.  

Was he the great diplomat, or was he the traitor?  What's the correct answer? Yes.

During the last years of his life Talleyrand began planning his reconciliation with the Catholic Church. On 16 May 1838, he signed a retraction of his errors towards the church and a letter of submission to Pope Gregory XVI. He died the following day at 3:55 p.m., at Saint-Florentin.

Near the end of his life, Talleyrand became interested in Catholicism again while teaching his young granddaughter simple prayers. The Abbé Félix Dupanloup came to Talleyrand in his last hours, and according to his account Talleyrand made confession and received extreme unction. When the abbé tried to anoint Talleyrand's palms, as prescribed by the rite, he turned his hands over to make the priest anoint him on the back of the hands, since he was a bishop. He also signed, in the abbé's presence, a solemn declaration in which he openly disavowed "the great errors which . . . had troubled and afflicted the Catholic, Apostolic and Roman Church, and in which he himself had had the misfortune to fall."  He died on 17 May 1838 and was buried in the Notre-Dame Chapel, near his Château de Valençay.

Today, when speaking of the art of diplomacy, the phrase "he is a Talleyrand" is variously used to describe a statesman of great resourcefulness and craft, or a cynical and conscienceless self-serving politician.

In 1817 Talleyrand decided Napoleon had lost it, and wanted to get rid of him but needed a co-conspirator, so he approached "Joseph Fouche the head of the secret police, his most hated enemy, an man who had even tried to have him assassinated."  A totally self serving amoral man who managed to shift sides over and over again throughout his life and end up in the ruling class each time.

After Napoleon was defeated and exiled to the Island of Elba, it was Tallyrand who conspired to bring him back, but not to truly restore his power, but to have him ultimately defeated an exiled so far away he could never return to France.  Tallyrand was totally corrupt, and had the ability to draw others into his corrupt web, and if necessary, turn against them to save himself.    

In France's July Revolution of 1830, after three days of riots, the statesman Talleyrand, now elderly, sat by his Paris window, listening to the pealing bells that signaled the riots were over.  Turnin to an assistant, he said "Ah the Bells!  We're winning: "Who's we mon prince" the assistant asked.  Gesturing for the man to keep quiet, Tallyrand replied, "not a word!"  "I'll tell you who we are tomorrow."

That brings me to Henry Kissinger.  According to Robert Greene in his book the 48 Laws of Power:

In the midst of the 1968 U.S. Presidential election, Henry Kissinger made a phone call to Richard Nixon's team.  Kissinger had been allied with Nelson Rockefeller, who had unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination. Now Kissinger offered to supply  the Nixon camp with valuable inside information on the negotiations for peace in Vietnam that were then going on in Paris.  He had a man on the negotiating team keeping him informed of the latest developments.  The Nixon team gladly accepted his offer.

At the same time Kissinger also approached the Democratic nominee, Herbert Humphrey, and offered his aid.  The Humphrey people asked him for inside information on Nixon and he supplied it.  Look, Kissinger told Humphrey's people.  Look, "I've hated Nixon for years" and in fact he had no interest in either side.  What he really wanted was what he got.  The promise of a high level cabinet post from both Nixon and Humphrey, which ever man won the election, Kissinger's career was secure, and he was the only Nixon man to survive the Watergate mess, and went to work for Gerald Ford.

Each of these leaders, somehow, rose above the ruck of mindless politics-as-usual to deliver just what their peoples desperately needed at the time............Finally, at the end of the book, we get Kissinger's real Last Word: that in our modern online world we have lost the tradition of "deep literacy." I am sure he was not -- repeat, NOT -- referring to the you-go girls presidenting at the Ivy League.

Well, I recently published a Kissinger article, Henry Kissinger: Time is The Great Leveler of Truth, outlining what a disaster Henry Kissinger was for the world.  At the end he proclaimed it was a grave mistake for Europe to listen to him on immigration.  Kissinger's life was a grave mistake!   His positions and actions have imperiled the world for decades and all that's coming to fruition.  Henry Kissinger, who was unendingly self serving, and I truly think totally untrustworthy, died at 100 years old. 

I believe he embraced this new tact in an attempt to ameliorate the disaster of his legacy, and his life.  But I'm betting history will not be kind to Kissinger, his legacy, or his character.  All of which I consider a disgrace.  While I did not applaud his passing, I am not saddened by it either.

The natural function of the human brain is to see patterns, and as we read more, and hopefully read more deeply, and we age, we see patterns more quickly and more easily.  

The patterns I saw regarding Kissinger?

1. Intelligent, but not smart. 
2. Highly educated, but not wise. 
3. Over catered to.
4. Filled with bad advice. 
5. An arrogant egomaniac.
6.  More concerned with being "someone" rather than doing something. 

He, like so many others of that ilk he failed to understand the one thing that's needed to be truly smart and wise. Everything is the basics.

My grandfather was one of the world's great economists. He said if you spend more than you make you go broke. And he was a coal miner and a farmer. The basics ultimately rule, and Kissinger and his ilk are oblivious to that because ideology really does make smart people stupid.

I didn't dance the jig when he died as the left is wont to do, but in no way am I saddened by his passing, and truthfully, I think the world is better off without him.

On November 29, 2023 by Scott Johnson posted an Inside the CIA article noting:

A high-ranking CIA official boldly shared multiple pro-Palestinian images on her Facebook page just two weeks after Hamas launched its bloody surprise attack on Israel — while President Biden was touring the Jewish state to pledge the US’s allegiance to the nation.

There were no repercussions for this. And we're shocked?  The only legitimate ally in the Middle East is Israel, and Secretary of State Binken is working to undermine their existence by undermining Israel's right to conduct this war as they see fit, especially given the murders, kidnappings, rapes and horrors heaped on Israel's civilian population.   

Biden, Blinken is sounding more and more as if they're Hamas spokesmen, and Michelle Obama was asked by a female Israeli official to condemn Hamas for the rapes and murders of women, and she got crickets.

There's even talk about withholding aid to Israel unless they kick out Netanyahu.  All that in spite of the fact every Middle East leader wants to see Hamas and Hezbollah destroyed.  In the long run, they're as big a threat to them as they are to Israel.

Recently the House of Representatives, currently, and very possibly in temporarily control by Republicans kicked out George Santos, who in spite of his issues was a consistent conservative vote.  

Now, I think ultimately he would have been found guilty of the charges being leveled against him, but that's a separate issue.  The invertebrate Republicans who infest the Congress totally capitulated to the Democrats expelling him before a conviction, because they're a bunch of idiots who might end up with a one seat majority, and then again, maybe not even a majority after all.  

Who knows where that would lead to under a Democrat controlled House?  Be careful what you wish for, you might get it. If he'd been found guilty of some crime or immoral act, then the House could have acted in complete harmony with the reasonable and rational precedents set by the history of the House. But now....if the Democrats take over they now have a precedent to kick out anyone just because they don't like them.  Remember how many Republicans were kicked off committees because they didn't like them, and how Pelosi rejected the Republicans named by McCarthy to sit on the January 6th committee for the same reason, all of which was in violation of House rules. 

Make no mistake, the Democrats would have never acted in this manner against one of their own, and the number of contemptible, corrupt, vile, and potentially indictable Democrat members of Congress are there to be seen by the most casual observer.  Why didn't these blithering idiots Republicans demand the same from the Democrats?  Because they're gutless nitwits.  And besides, the Democrats take a dim view of hanging their own, and will do whatever it takes to protect them. They've even apparently destroyed J6 commission witness testimony. 

According to Barry Laudermilk (R-GA) says the video depositions of witnesses for the Democrat-controlled January 6 Committee  were destroyed because the Democrats didn't think they were necessary.  Imagine that.  Worried about the government needing to store too much stuff.  I have to believe it might also have been illegal!  Will the Republicans go after them for this?  I doubt it. 

Morality is only for Republicans, and let's not kid ourselves, politicians have never let hypocrisy stand in the way of achieving their goals, and the Democrats excel at that.  

A  94-Year-Old Veteran Says He Was Kicked Out Of New York City Nursing Home To Make Room For Illegal Migrants, and Biden wants to turn over Federal lands set aside for national preservation to migrants.  Because of the actions of the federal government and this administration the economy is at the edge of a dangerous precipice.  Loans are becoming delinquent, savings accounts are being depleted, and retirement plans are being dipped into to pay bills.  The nation is heading into bankruptcy.  

Then we have John Kerry.  Now there's a nitwit of massive proportions for you.  Kerry is demanding all the world's coal fired power plants to be shut down, all the while China is building one right after the other, and he's demanding, along with another blithering nitwit, King Charles, we give billions, at the minimum to nations of the world calling it "Climate Justice".  In spite of the fact there's not one valid scientific reason for any of this.  The world isn't warming via anything mankind is doing.  And CO2 certainly isn't responsible, not to mention the fact the world is in what they're calling a warming pause.  For the last 25 years.  And this is an international insanity.  At the Neo-communist convention known as COP 28 the Pope declares the climate has run amok and the planet is overheating.  

In reality, as at least one attendee spoke the truth.  Sultan al-Jaber, president of the COP28 climate summit, stated:

"There is no science out there, or no scenario out there, that says the phase-out of fossil fuel is what's going to achieve 1.5," al-Jaber said in an online event on Nov. 21, according to The Guardian, adding a pointed barb to the hosts that it would be impossible to stop burning fossil fuels and sustain economic development, "unless you want to take the world back into caves."

And finally to top off this essay!  Democrats canceled their primary in Florida handing over their delegates to Biden, and few in their party care.  That from the party that unendingly claims electing Trump will destroy democracy.  Imagine that.  As Herodotus noted, culture is king, and the culture of the left is unabashedly corrupt.

Henry Kissinger: Time is The Great Leveler of Truth

At 100 years old Henry Kissinger has passed.  Unlike the insane virtue signaling morally defective leftists who dance when a conservative opponent passes, that's not what conservatives do.  Conservatives value decency, but that doesn't preclude recognizing the reality, truth, or the obviation of history of who and what they were.  There's no reason why decency and honesty shouldn't go hand in hand, and the world needs to be honest about Henry Kissinger's legacy.

You will notice there's no gleeful vilification of his legacy in these articles, unlike the type of glee you see on major media news sites for the death of a conservative leader.  But truth will very patiently wait for us, and the truth of his legacy needs to be exposed, no matter how unpleasantly it may impact who he was.  

Let's start with this incontrovertible historical fact.  Kissinger was a disaster for the civilized world.

For more years than I can remember I've felt Kissinger was an intelligent, over educated, over pampered, over catered to blithering idiot,  and it appears the bug man was right after all, imagine that!  Time and truth are on the same side, and he's been exposed for what a nitwit he was for all the world to see.  Europe made a grave mistake by listening to this nitwit and the man he mentored, Klaus Schwab of the World Economic Forum, which is in fact pushing on the world a form of viral neo-communism.

"Unfortunately, this reimagined world Klaus Schwab is talking about is the totalitarian globalist world ruled by a few and the rest of us are not happy with their social engineering"

Kissinger's positions and actions have imperiled the world for decades.  He was the one who went to China for Nixon and opened China to world trade, saving Mao and his maniacal crowd of murders.  Since then America has been enriching China funding it's own destruction, and the elitists like Kissinger supported that.

When I read prominent people talking about how brilliant Richard Nixon was on foreign affairs I really see red, and I put Henry Kissinger in that same category.  Nixon opened China up to the world's economy, thinking to offset Soviet influence and power.  And Kissinger was a major part of that.  

Why would anyone believe that was a good idea?

Mao's Great Leap Forward 'killed 45 million in four years' of his rule by selling the food they needed to survive in order to buy arms.  

Mr Dikötter, who has been studying Chinese rural history from 1958 to 1962, when the nation was facing a famine, compared the systematic torture, brutality, starvation and killing of Chinese peasants to the Second World War in its magnitude. At least 45 million people were worked, starved or beaten to death in China over these four years; the worldwide death toll of the Second World War was 55 million..................... State retribution for tiny thefts, such as stealing a potato, even by a child, would include being tied up and thrown into a pond; parents were forced to bury their children alive or were doused in excrement and urine, others were set alight, or had a nose or ear cut off. One record shows how a man was branded with hot metal. People were forced to work naked in the middle of winter; 80 per cent of all the villagers in one region of a quarter of a million Chinese were banned from the official canteen because they were too old or ill to be effective workers, so were deliberately starved to death. .

And Nixon and Kissinger thought making a deal with monsters like that was a good idea?

Kissinger has been a globalist for all of his life, so as you read this article, which was a mere ten years ago, he was still touting the One World Government theme, and blaming everyone else because his corrupt schemes were failing.  As you review what he's promoted over the decades one has to ask:  How can anyone so smart be so stupid?  Answer:  Ideology makes smart people stupid.  

Now as the curtain is coming down, he all of a sudden embraced the foreign policies of  Donald Trump, all of which are totally opposite of what he and Nixon embraced, and totally out of character for him, and the world view he's presented over and over again.  I have to wonder what's he up to?  Even with an ego as massive as his (at the time he was 94) he couldn't possibly have still wanted to be in the game?  Could he?  I'll tell you what. We'll come back to that.

I've not had any respect for Kissinger as long as I've known about him.  If he told me day was light and night was dark, I'd make sure to go outside and make sure.  Even with an ego as massive as his, at the time he was around 94, did he actually think it was possible he could get back into the game? 

Nixon's Presidency was filled with huge mistakes, but opening up China to the world was his biggest mistake.  Mao's economy after his violent and destructive Cultural Revolution was in shambles, and if Nixon had stayed home and minded the business of America, I seriously doubt the Chinese Communist Party would still be in existence.  But he didn't, and now were paying the price for his, and Kissinger's, stupidity.  That gave the CCP the economy they needed to fund their war against America.

Many years ago I had an account who was related to Kissinger, and while at an event he went up to him and said his grandfather, and Kissinger's grandfather were brothers.  I asked what did Kissinger say?  His wife answered, Kissinger said, "Ja", then rudely turned on his heel and walked away.  That told me all I had to know about Kissinger in order to fill in the rest. 

Now the globalist who supported all the massive immigration that's destroying Europe takes an amazing stand about Hamas in this latest war. 

Israel can't yield to Hamas threat to kill hostages, says Henry Kissinger - Asked by Döpfner how he would handle Hamas' threat to hostages, Kissinger said: "Sitting on the outside, it is not possible for me to state a complete answer.""Theoretically and conceptually, I would say that we cannot yield to that," he said. Peace talks are "inconceivable" if "terrorists can appear openly and take hostages and kill people,"...............Hamas' actions, he said, are evidence that the group wants to "mobilize the Arab world against Israel" and end any prospect of peace negotiations......

Theoretically and conceptually?  What's exactly does that mean?  Even when he's right he's wrong.  This attack is an effort to "mobilize the Arab world against Israel"?  Again, Kissinger either fails to understand the real gravity of the situation, or he's ignoring it.  

This is an effort to mobilize the Islamic world against all Jews and all Christians.  This is a declaration of war on the world, and Kissinger is once again failing to understand, or choosing to misunderstand what's going on by hedging reality.  Just as he's done his whole life in support of his globalist schemes, all of which are proving to be abject failures.  

Academics need to be on tap, not on tap.  That way they can be ignored and any damage they may do can be marginalized. America’s most notable diplomat and presidential adviser, Henry Kissinger, passed away at his home in Connecticut on Wednesday, November 29, at the age of 100. He leaves behind a legacy that few can match – one as controversial as it is respected.

Born in Germany, Kissinger and his family fled to the US with the rise of the Nazis. He distinguished himself academically and then joined the military before completing his studies at Harvard. From crafting a détente with the Soviet Union and paving the way for relations with China, he was at the forefront of American diplomacy under a succession of presidents.

In 1973, Kissinger won the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in negotiating the Paris Peace Accords to end US involvement in Vietnam. While the Accord ultimately failed, he was widely lauded for his efforts, though others condemned the award over the question of secret bombing raids in Cambodia.

Kissinger has the distinction of being the only man to serve as national security adviser and Secretary of State simultaneously – providing him with a level of authority in foreign affairs that did much to bolster his reputation.

He served under Republican Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. After leaving public service, he devoted himself to his geopolitical consulting firm, Kissinger Associates Inc. He remained an influential figure in foreign diplomacy. As The Hill reports, “He was appointed by former President Reagan in 1982 to chair the National Bipartisan Commission on Central America, and later served on the President’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board under Reagan and former President George H.W. Bush.”

Whatever one may think of his contentious legacy, Kissinger epitomizes to many what it means to be a statesman, confident in his intellect and ability. As he once noted: “There cannot be a crisis next week. My schedule is already full.”

Pro-Hamas demonstrations show European nations, including Germany, made a “grave mistake”, and the continent should be concerned about future hostage-taking raids against its own people if the idea isn’t defeated quickly, Henry Kissinger warns. Europe is subject to internal pressure by groups of people “of totally different culture and religion” because of the “grave mistake” of admitting too many foreigners, Henry Kissinger said of the phenomenon of demonstrations across Europe in support of Hamas terrorists this week...... “It was a grave mistake to let in so many people of totally different culture and religion and concepts, because it creates a pressure group inside each country that does that”.........

In 2015 Kissinger was a co-signatory of a letter to Congress demanding the borders be kept open to Syrian and Iraqi migrants in the wake of the deadly Paris terror attacks. The letter said to do otherwise would “be contrary to our nation’s traditions of openness and inclusivity, and would undermine our core objective of combating terrorism”, because admitting Muslim migrants is a way to defeat ISIS.  

It said: “Categorically refusing to take [Muslim migrants] only feeds the narrative of ISIS that there is a war between Islam and the West, that Muslims are not welcome in the United States and Europe, and that the ISIS caliphate is their true home. The Chinese Communist Party has held only 20 party congresses in its history, one every five years, and few as notable as the just-concluded meeting at which President Xi Jinping claimed his unprecedented third five-year term. In a two-hour address, Xi aggressively signaled that China will focus on national security, invest in a “world class military,” “develop unmanned, intelligent combat capabilities,” and unrelentingly pursue the takeover of Taiwan under the banner of “reunification.”  All this against a backdrop of asserted rising external threats from the West and a forecast of “high winds, choppy waters and dangerous storms.”

It did not take long for Chinese investors to react. On Monday, the Hang Seng plummeted 6.4% (equivalent to a 2,000 drop in the Dow Jones index), for the largest one-day drop since November 2008. The index is down 42% for the year and within 2% of its 52-week low. In the tech sector, e-commerce giant Alibaba fell 10%, bringing its losses to more than $600 billion since it peaked in October 2020. Chip stocks are being dumped in response to expected U.S. export controls. The property sector is facing unrelenting pressure from massive over-building and excess debt. Chinese entrepreneurs are leaving the country. Official and unofficial accounts track massive movements of capital to havens outside of China. My Take - Kissinger! Amazing!  This falls under the category of - "Whoda Thunk It!" 

Kissinger has been a globalist for all of his life, so as you read this article there are a couple of things that should come to mind.

First, how can anyone so smart be so stupid?  Answer:  Ideology makes smart people stupid. 

Secondly, this seeming support of Donald Trump's foreign policies is so out of character for him with the world view he's presented over and over again - I have to wonder what's he up to?  Even with an ego as massive as his, at 94 he can't possibly still want to be in the game?  Can he?
