Facts are the hobgoblin of the tenaciously faithful mind

Over the years I've thoroughly enjoyed the cartoon, Non Sequitur, and especially the character Danae, created by Wiley Miller.  

When I saw this the first thing that came to my mind is this is a perfect illustration of the leftist mind set, which explains everything they do and promote, including, and maybe especially, the fallacy of Anthropogenic Climate Change.  

No matter the evidence, nothing can sway leftists.  Leftism is a secular religion, and environmentalism is a sect of this religion.  Neither of which will alter their destructive actions by any amount of facts, history or consequences.  Nothing will divert them from their narrative because to do otherwise is heresy.

It is amazing how many people seem to have discovered last Wednesday that riots are wrong – when many of those same people apparently had not noticed that when riots went on, for weeks or even months, in various cities across the country last year. For too many people, especially in the media, what is right and wrong, true or false, depends on who it helps or hurts politically. Too many media people who are supposed to be reporters act as if they are combatants in political wars. Someone once said that, in a war, truth is the first casualty. That has certainly been so in the media – and in much of academia as well.

One of the most grotesque distortions growing out of this carelessness with the facts has been a removal of Abraham Lincoln's name and statues from various places, on grounds that he saw black people only as property.

Such criticisms betray an incredible ignorance of history – or else a complete disregard of truth.............To Read More....

My Take -  This is the second time I've linked this piece.  Because we need to start demanding truth from the media and government.  What's truth is the usual meme.  Well, here's the answer:

Truth is the sublime convergence of history and reality.  Everything has a historical foundation and context.  Everything we're told should bear some resemblance to what we see going on in reality.  If what's presented to us fails in either category; it's wrong.

The ironworker looks into the camera and concludes, “Your argument is invalid. Get over it. Find a job.” His video, intended to debunk the popular 9/11 conspiracy theory about jet fuel and steel beams, is a refreshing injection of reality into a narrative often plagued with mythology. The fact that a video like this is even necessary – and that the man filming it is clearly annoyed – also points to a larger problem. That problem is that liberals, leftists and collectivists of every stripe never tire of using and abusing what they call “science” as a weapon of propaganda.

The narrative goes like this: Liberals are good-hearted, open-minded people who believe in the scientific method and who reject superstitious creationism. They accept the “settled science” of man-caused global warming (and, coincidentally, the crippling socialist economic regulations that always seem to be the solution to this problem). They’re also constitutional scholars and experts on everything from the technology of the Internet to the technology of firearms. Much to their chagrin, however, those benighted, practically retarded, racist reactionary Neanderthals who insist on voting for conservatives and libertarians refuse to be persuaded by liberals’ brilliance, which of course only reinforces how stupid those knuckle-dragging Republican types are.  The narrative is then repeated ad nauseam in our popular culture: Democrats smart, Republicans stupid.
