Tunisian president warns of country being ‘overrun by blacks’

By

Though officially slavery is outlawed everywhere, in Africa hundreds of thousands of blacks are still enslaved by Arab masters. In Mali, there are up to 800,000, in Niger there are 45,000, and in Mauritania, which in 1981 became the last country to abolish slavery, there are over 100,000. No one raises the matter at the UN General Assembly, no Special Rapporteur has been appointed to study the “situation of black African slaves in Muslim lands.”

In Tunisia, black Africans — both those who have arrived in order to then try to make it to Europe by boat, and those whose families have been in Tunisia for generations (15% of Tunisians are black) – find themselves the object of racist attacks by individual Tunisian Arabs and by the Tunisian government. The Tunisian President has deplored the presence of so many black Africans who, he claims, are “overrunning” the country; sub-Saharan migrants have been arrested for the “crime of being black,” and now the police have been taking black Africans to desert areas, near the borders inhospitable with Algeria and Libya. There they are left without food and water, to fend for themselves. The local................How do the Tunisians escape condemnation? They have the political protection afforded them by the other 21 members of the Arab League, and by the 56 other members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Neither at the UN Human Rights Council, nor at the General Assembly, have the matter of Arab enslavement of blacks, or of Arab anti-black racism, ever been raised, nor will they ever be..................To Read More...

Black History Month: Thomas Sowell on Slavery

Posted by Mary Grabar, February 1, 2017 @ Dissident Prof

Greetings! February is Black History Month and I am coming across some very interesting information as I write my book about George Schuyler. I hope to provide some useful information and recommended reading throughout the month. Today, I offer you a paragraph from one of Thomas Sowell's earlier books, Ethnic America: A History (1981), a very lucid and even-handed comparison of the various ethnic groups from all over the world in America.

He explains in a dispassionate manner why some groups did better in some areas than others, and how the particular circumstances in the countries of origin, as well as those in this country, impacted various groups. This one is about slavery, where and how it originated, especially in regards to Islam. That is something George Schuyler schooled Malcolm X on during their radio debates. I provide an update at the end.
Slavery had long existed among the African tribes, as it had existed for centuries among Europeans, going back to ancient Greece and Rome. But massive commercial sales of Negro slaves began after the conquest of northern Africa by the Arabs in the eighth century. Arab slave traders penetrated down into the center of Africa and on the east coast as far south as Mozambique. In cooperation with local tribes, they captured or purchased slaves to take back with them across the Sahara Desert, which eventually became strewn with the skeletons of Negroes who died on the long march across the burning sands. The Arabs were notable as the most cruel of all slave masters. As late as the nineteenth century, British explorer David Livingstone had nightmares for weeks after witnessing the treatment of slave by Arabs. Slavery was not completely abolished in the Arab world until after the middle of the twentieth century. (page 185)
Update: Slavery is back in Muslim countries. Daniel Pipes has a number of posts and articles about 21st Century Slavery, below are two of them, there are more.

What Sort of Compromise Do the Arabs Want with Israel?

Kenneth Eliasberg

Arab-Israeli "peace talks" have been going on for the better part of a century, without even a hint of serious progress. The reason is quite simple: the Arabs don't want peace with Israel. They just don't want Israel, and they will come up with any excuse for frustrating the possibility, let alone the prospect, of a peaceful resolution.

At the outset, it might be helpful to focus in on our terms. When we speak of Arabs, we are usually focused on "Palestinians" (although the entire Arab world seems to be united behind the concept of driving Israel out of the Middle East; their larger goal – which some of them have openly admitted – is the extermination of Jewry in general – i.e. to complete the job undertaken by Hitler, with whom they were joined at the hip during WWII).

Also, it is important to note (and emphasize) that there has never been a Palestinian "nation" – only a land mass designated as Palestine at the close of WWI with the destruction of the Ottoman Empire, under whose rule that mass had been presided over.......  More
