We Need to Abandon Tribalism in America!

On March 29, 2024 John Horvat II posted this article Fantasy Rules in Tribal Land Disputes, at American Thinker saying:

The news story reads like a classic land dispute between government and business interests against the claims of Indian tribes. Two massive projects are about to be started near a vast reservation in Arizona. The first is a power line that runs through an ancestral valley, and the second is a copper mine that sits atop a sacred mountain.

He went on to show the lunacy of this "sacred lands" and devotion to "old ways", and how the left rants unendingly about the need to abandon any or all projects that offend these "primitive" passions of systems that failed.   He also goes on to state:

....the same liberals who would do anything to keep Christianity out of the public square and policy do everything to defend Native American spirits "inhabiting" public lands..... it does not take much to stake a claim. A few artifacts or pottery chards suffice. Based on these shallow claims, multi-billion dollar projects can grind to a halt........some left-allied tribal members claim Indian spirits occupy the mountain......

Even when these "tribes" have no territorial claim of these properties in question whatsoever, it seems all they have to do is say their ancestor's spirits " inhabit" some place or other, or they find some broken shards of pottery, and that makes it theirs.  

Now, how could anyone find fault with that kind of irrefutable logic?  Get real!

Not all tribe members agree with this claptrap, as they're now Christians and live modern lives, but this is just another destructive leftist battle of narratives, and their narrative must be soundly rejected.

The reality is these tribes were defeated nation long ago, and they need to accept it, get over it, and take advantage of the greatest system of governance that world has ever known, and the resulting economic powerhouse it created.  If they refuse, well, this is America, and people are entitled to embrace whatever folly they choose, but that's their problem to resolve, not mine or anyone else's. 

The nation needs to abandon the idea of reservations as semi-autonomous authorities, right along with all this "sacred spirit inhabited lands" claptrap.  Either they're Americans or they're not, either private property is Constitutionally protected or it's not.   This is just another destructive leftist effort at Balkanization and it needs to be abandoned.

Unfortunately this narrative isn't just about native Americans.  There are entirely too many in America who claim minority, or some other kind of protected status, and they have demands.  

Well, hey man, I get it, after all, I'm Serbian and there are only 190,000 Serbians in America, now that's a major minority.   But you know, Serbians think they're Americans, and like it.  

Imagine that!   

Our ancestors thought being Americans, who just happened to be Serbian, was far more important than being Serbians who just happen to live in America.  And guess what?  They passed that mentality off to their descendants, including in my family, who fought in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.   One was a career Navy Seal, and another was a graduate of Annapolis.   

I guess Serbians just don't get it.   Or, ....hey wait....., I just had a thought.  Perhaps.....and this is just a shot in the dark of course....., perhaps it's the rest of the world that doesn't "get it"?

The dire conditions under which Native Americans live in the United States are pitiful. Statistics grow dated by the month. According to the American Community Survey, one in three Native Americans live in poverty with a median income of around $23,000 per year.

Self-proclaimed experts on Native American poverty such as sociologist Beth Redbird point out that despite heavy investments in education, up to 80% of Native Americans move back to their rural communities. Given that poverty tends to be higher in rural areas, the poverty gap between Native Americans who live in rural areas and urban areas is larger than the white rural and urban gap. The conclusion is that poverty is not driven by the propensity of Native Americans to live in rural areas.

Redbird concludes that amazing things would happen if Native Americans had the same employment rates, occupations, levels of education, lived in the same geographic locations and were in the same types of white households as white Americans. She claims the payoff to education is not nearly as great as the payoff to jobs. In other words, if such conditions held, Native American poverty would decrease because poverty could be reduced for the Indian-only population by nearly 20% with employment.

She cites the abysmal failures of Native Americans to address their own economic development through tribal gaming and energy. Reports from the census show that when tribes started gaming establishments or energy projects that poverty rates did not decrease, and that few lasting jobs were created. In 2015 alone, casinos created about only 25 jobs, while energy had hardly any effect on reservations with more than 2,000 residents on average...................... .. To Read More..

The Evil Genius of ‘Native American’

The fake news stories come and go so fast that keeping up feels impossible.

Last week’s most hyped fake news was BuzzFeed’s report that President Trump told his lawyer to lie to Congress. It was too dishonest even for Witchfinder General Robert Mueller, who’s no friend of the president but apparently has limits. Through a spokesman, he told BuzzFeed to buzz off.

Undeterred and certainly not embarrassed, the media moved on to another story: Catholic high school kids had surrounded, harassed, and taunted a harmless old Native American man on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

• The kids were Catholic, which Democrats suggest disqualifies them from holding public office.
• Most of them were white, so they were obviously racist.
• They looked like cis-male heterosexuals, so when they’re not harassing old people they’re planning their next rape party.
• And they’re from Kentucky—Kentucky!—Is that even a real place? I think it’s in flyover country somewhere.
• So they’ve got to be gap-toothed, illiterate rednecks who hate gays, Muslims, and who want a Big Beautiful Wall to make refugee children suffer.

My Take - This is a profound and provocative posting, and it's needed saying for a long time.  I get tired of hearing how bad the European settlers were to the Indians.  Is it true? Yes, but compared to the American Indians were they any worse? No!  If you want to condemn them for being bad Christians, then you have a legitimate argument since the things they claimed to believe in said not to do such things, and I include the Pilgrims.

If you're condemning them for being bad people, well, I'm sorry they weren't any worse than American Indians.  The native tribes hated each other worse than they did the white settlers. They all were playing the same grab the land game.  The difference was the European settlers played much better than did American Indians. 

These "native" Americans need to finally accept the reality that they're conquered peoples, and fortunately they were conquered by Americans.  They need to stop dwelling on the poisons of the past if they wish to move on.  But they won't.  They want government guaranteed handouts so they can sit and stew over the past.  In spite of the fact that keeps them impoverised and miserable. Well, let them, but I don't want to hear it and I'm not going to bleed all over myself for them.
