Southern Poverty Law Center Is Punished for the Wrong Crimes

April 5, 2109

A writer named Bob Moser is incensed at what became of the Southern Poverty Law Center where he worked for a few years in the early aughts.

The recent revelations of sexual harassment and racism unfolding at the Poverty Palace built by SPLC founder Morris Dees down in Montgomery, Alabama, caused Moser to pen a lengthy takedown of his old employer in the New Yorker. It sure took him long enough to build up the gumption. He worked there almost two decades ago.

His view at the time of his hiring in 2001 was that he was going to work with “a highly diverse bunch of super-dedicated colleagues” who had only “humble resources” to do the work of justice.

Apparently, this crack investigative journalist did not know at the time about the 1995 Pulitzer Prize-winning exposé of SPLC in the local paper that included charges of racial discrimination.  Neither did he know about lefty Ken Silverstein’s 2000 takedown of SPLC in Harper’s that made plain SPLC’s massive bank account and exorbitant salaries paid to top management. Somehow this crack journalist missed this and was expecting “humble resources.”...........To Read More....

Why Is the Southern Poverty Law Center Bullying Victims of Radical Islamists?

by Bradley Martin March 15, 2019

The Southern Poverty Law Center has released a new interactive map listing 1,020 “hate groups” believed to be active across the U.S. This updated map provides access to detailed information, including which states have the most hate groups per capita and how the number of hate groups has increased over time on the state and national level.

The SPLC defines a hate group as an organization characterized by “beliefs or practices that attack or malign an entire class of people, typically for their immutable characteristics.”

Despite their census of domestic hate groups reaching a record high last year, not a single radical Islamist group made the list. According to the Investigative Project on Terrorism, there are an estimated 202 Islamic terrorist groups operating inside the U.S. This domestic terrorist network includes groups such as ISIS, al-Qaeda, and Hezbollah.

Altogether, these terrorist organizations are responsible for the murder and injury of thousands of Americans, yet not a word from the SPLC. If that weren’t bad enough, the SPLC also lumps victims of radical Islamic terrorism together with hate groups such as the KKK and neo-Nazis.........To Read More.....

Christine Ford, Justin Fairfax, and Me

This effort was particularly instructive in revealing the dangerous mentality behind the blacklist, and the menace it poses not only to conservatives like myself, but to the future of our democracy............

When my lawyers sent a letter to Common Cause demanding a retraction for slandering me as a “white supremacist” and “sexist,” a Ballard Spahr lawyer named Seth D. Berlin replied: “Common Cause declines to do so.

Common Cause’s characterizations of your clients’ ‘ideas’ and ‘rhetoric’ as ‘white supremacist,’ ‘racist,’ ‘sexist’ and the like, are fully protected expressions of its opinion.”

This was true. Since 1964, slandering a public figure – defaming him without evidence - is protected by the Constitution as per a decision of the Supreme Court in NYTimes v. Sullivan.[10] This decision is responsible for the debased state of our current press since it has relieved media institutions of their legal liability for making false and character-damaging statements about public figures they oppose. Slander has consequently – and disastrously -- become the common currency of the Fourth Estate.

I already understood these facts but had asked my lawyer to send the letter anyway, knowing we did not have a legal case. I saw it as an appeal to the conscience of the Common Cause executives to look at what I had actually said and voluntarily take an action that would repair some of the damage they had done to my reputation...........Read more

SPLC Sued for Targeting, Destroying Lawyer’s Career

WND, January 3, 2019 [WND Editor’s Note: Those who wish to contribute to this suit can do so here.]

The latest case was filed in U.S. District Court in Maryland by Baltimore lawyer Glen K. Allen against SPLC, and Heidi Beirich and Mark Potok, who have been associated with the group.
The lawsuit alleges:
“Motivated by lucrative fundraising aims and employing fundraising techniques decried across the political spectrum as deceptive, the SPLC’s avowed goal, under the leadership of Beirich, Potok, and others, is to destroy, through public shaming, loss of employment, loss of reputation and other severe harms, groups and persons the SPLC broadly defines as its political enemies.”
The complaint contends they are not entitled to “receive, pay for, and use stolen documents, including confidential documents and documents protected by attorney client privilege, to tortiously interfere with Allen’s prospective advantage in employment; to defame him by publishing false statements that he was ‘infiltrating’ the city of Baltimore’s Law Department; or to masquerade as a 501c3 public interest law firm dedicated to a tax exempt educational mission, when in reality the SPLC fails the basic requirements for this favored status because of its illegal actions (including numerous instances of mail and wire fraud), multiple violations of canons of professional ethics (including improper disclosure of confidential and privileged documents and failure to train its nonlawyer employees), orchestration of violations of the constitutional rights of the organizations and individuals it targets, and sensational supermarket tabloid style one-sided depictions of its victims.”..........To Read More..

Women's March loses SPLC as a partner

January 13, 2019 By Rick Moran

The Women's March movement is in deep trouble and is in danger of falling apart as a result of the nauseating anti-Semitism of its leadership. The latest sign of fractures in the movement came as the Southern Poverty Law Center announced they would not support the national March this year..........Women like Linda Sarsour and Tamika Mallory rose to the very top leadership of the movement because anti-Semitism on the left is acceptable and usually couched in terms of "Anti-Zionism." But the raw, cringe-inducing Jew hatred of those women, and others on the left involved in the Women's March, couldn't be hidden, excused, or explained away...............Read more

The SPLC: A Massive, Multi-Million-Dollar Character Assassination Machine

The establishment media continues to try to destroy opposition to Sharia.

September 28, 2018 Robert Spencer

As Brett Kavanaugh defended himself on Thursday against scurrilous and unsubstantiated allegations brought forward by the Democrats, who have now richly earned the sobriquet “the Evil Party,” David Horowitz tweeted: “The left lives by character assassination - Bork, Thomas, Kavanaugh.” Yes it does, and this doesn’t manifest itself solely in Supreme Court nominee hearings. The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), the establishment media’s principal source for determining who is acceptable in the public square and who isn’t, is a well-heeled, unscrupulous character assassination machine, destroying lives and reputations with impunity for years now.

The SPLC has for years defamed me as a “hate group leader” and an “anti-Muslim extremist.” These are not mere words. Tyler O’Neil reported in PJ Media last September that former SPLC spokesman Mark Potok declared: “Sometimes the press will describe us as monitoring hate groups, I want to say plainly that our aim in life is to destroy these groups, completely destroy them.”........To Read More...

Leftist SPLC: Falsely Accusing Others of Hate

By Jerry Newcombe July 13, 2017

Perhaps, the most overused word in America is “hate.” All you have to do is accuse someone who disagrees with you of hate, and that’s it: guilty as charged.   Former Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean even famously said recently that “hate speech” is not protected by the First Amendment. This is like the modern equivalent of the horrible anti-witch hysteria in Salem in 1692-1693. If you were accused of being a witch, then you were virtually guilty. Twenty were accused and executed for supposedly being a witch.

Thankfully, when Rev. Increase Mather returned to Massachusetts from England, he put a stop to the evil witch-hunt by ordering that the Biblical standard be applied. No one could be convicted except by two or three witnesses—no more convictions by the testimony of only one witness. The killings stopped, and the jails were emptied of those falsely accused.

Today, the charge of “hater” is bandied recklessly. Because Christians may disagree with someone on some issue, the Christian is branded a hater, with no evidence or witnesses needed........To Read More.....

Should the SPLC be on its Own Hate List?

By Onan Coca September 7, 2017

Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld had some brilliant insight on Wednesday’s episode of The Five when he reported on the recent revelation that for years, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has been funneling their funding into offshore accounts.  Gutfeld explained that the SPLC has long been a far-left organization that was dedicated not to human rights, but to undermining conservatives.

He reminded viewers that the SPLC has drawn up a “hate list” outlining various groups and people that the SPLC says are propagating hate, and that list includes moderate Muslim reformers like Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Maajidd Nawaz, Christian organizations like the Family Research Council, and basically anyone who disagrees with the SPLC’s vision of morality.........To Read More.....
