There's No Substitute For Mom?

Guest Author

I was listening to Dr. Laura (Schlesinger, a psychologist with a call-in show) on Sirius radio, who related that she had been on talk shows during which she conducted impromptu audience polls in response to attack questions by hosts.

Hosts would object to her traditional views on raising children with a full-time mother in the home, and on parents remaining in otherwise failing relationships until the kids are grown.

She would respond to these attacks with a question to the audience (which I will relate imperfectly):

All of you suddenly die today. The next thing you know you are back in the world as a small child. In which circumstance would you rather find yourself (and she would direct the audience to stand for their preferred choice): cared for by (1) a day care center; (2) a baby sitter; (3) a nanny; (4) a non-working mother who stays home for you?

Each time NO one chose anything other than the stay-at-home mother, even though the audiences had a wide age range from young to old and surely included many committed "feminists."  Dr. Laura concludes that despite all the rhetoric about women "having it all", everyone knows in their hearts that there is no substitute for a mother's love and constant presence in raising children.

Obviously she is a controversial figure because of these views. But it is hard to argue with her when families increasingly break down, and when women find that "having it all" is often an illusion. Someone or something important is often left behind: a broken marriage, a lost child or children.

And according to Dr. Laura, most people know this in their hearts, whether they admit It or not.

On the Efforts to Silence Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity

Brad Bird Brad Bird January 23, 2021

Fox News Channel’s political commentators Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity are under attack, with many calling for their removal from the airwaves.  While this is perhaps a predictable extension of cancel culture’s ongoing persecution of those who uphold traditional values, the attack on these men is a particularly offensive attempt at censorship—a line in the sand.

This is because they’re among the few remaining voices in North American journalism with the courage and commitment to report views and facts that challenge the wisdom of progressive thinking. They also defended and respected President Donald J. Trump, who was endlessly and unjustly attacked and maligned by most in the media who betrayed the tradition of fair and balanced reporting.

Carlson and Hannity have been accused, among other things, of spreading “harmful propaganda and downright fiction,” according to one source.  This is rich, considering what the mainstream media has been doing in recent years. We need to understand this clearly: Carlson and Hannity make no pretense of being objective newscasters such as the late Walter Cronkite or the current Lester Holt. They’re commentators who present their opinions in the same way the acclaimed William F. Buckley once did.

The problem is that people who want just the facts can’t get them anymore in the legacy media, such as The New York Times, because it’s so tainted by wokeness, political correctness, and the anti-Trump parade. So they turn to Carlson, Hannity, and others such as Laura Ingraham for relief and common sense...........You don’t have to agree with all that Carlson and Hannity say. I don’t, and they don’t expect us to...........

Today the situation is reversed. It’s progressives, some clearly sympathetic to the Antifa-Marxist fringe of the Democratic Party, who are doing the persecuting, and they do so with impunity. We saw this last summer when Antifa and related groups toppled statues, injured hundreds of police officers, burned cruisers and private businesses, and actually took control, for many weeks, of portions of inner cities such as Seattle. Yet they were allowed this rampage in direct violation of the law. The mainstream media insisted these were “peaceful protests.” Thanks to Carlson and Hannity, we got some sanity on this madness.............To Read More....

Stand for Laura Ingraham and a Free Press

Adult sponsors of companies sign on to bullying a conservative commentator off the air.

Jeffrey Lord March 30, 2018

But, of course.

So Laura Ingraham tweets the mildest of tweets, in this case about the news that David Hogg of Parkland student anti-gun activism fame, has been rejected by various colleges. This news of Hogg’s rejections — something totally normal in the world of being admitted to X or Y college — was put out there by Hogg himself in this talk with TMZ. Ingraham twitted by tweet:
David Hogg Rejected By Four Colleges To Which He Applied and whines about it. (Dinged by UCLA with a 4.1 GPA…totally predictable given acceptance rates.)
Hogg, who has made extensive use of his First Amendment free speech rights, immediately turns around and demands that a free press that displeases him — Ingraham’s Fox News show — be “boycotted” by advertisers.  Immediately the adults who sponsor Ingraham’s show stand up and do his bidding.

Let’s start with this interesting story you won’t see anywhere else.
