The historical record does not match the facts. The same problems plaguing OSS, have continued with CIA.

After 911, there were calls to end CIA in some quarters. It was pointed out the CIA didn't share information with the other 19 Intel agencies (and their subgroups), that it spent enormous amounts of time fighting and spying on these same agencies going so far as to recruit people in other groups to spy on them for CIA!  Few realize that the Directors of CIA answer to a board that restricts any reform. The vast majority of classified files are to hide incompetence and stupidity, usually of our politicians. Attempts to classify less and declassify more don’t get very far, politicians determine budgets! .............What most people don't realize...........is that the group CIA replaced, The Office Of Strategic Services (O.S.S.) had all the same criticisms leveled at it!

Infiltration of OSS by pro- Russian spies. John Grombach counted 15 spies in his OSS office alone, when you start adding up all the OSS offices here and abroad, this was a massive security breach.......Allan Dulles, the first head of CIA, would play a monumental role in bringing down Joe McCarthy- by feeding him a fake name and dossier on a military figure. Though still classified, look for a military leader accused by Joe McCarthy. Dulles himself had been completely compromised by the Germans in WW 2 and was pretty much useless during the war. He failed upwards. 

 The FBI record is also dismal. They often knew who the spies were in the FDR administration, but because they used illegal methods to gather their information none of them could be prosecuted. On record they could show they had the names, but off the record we now know why they didn’t prosecute them.

The top priority of both CIA and the FBI is protecting Democrats.

Along with the propaganda campaign to destroy Joe McCarthy, was a campaign to hide and disguise the true nature of the Democratic Party. .............FDR was the first President to go to J. Edger Hoover of the FBI and ask for information on the sex lives of his friends and foes. This began early in his first term, and FDR quickly began using the information to put his administration into a state of fear. Hollywood leftists, their blacklist and their treason

Digging through some old magazines I came across an attack on Elia Kazan by the author of the Culture Vulture column (The Australian Magazine 19-20 September 1998) in which he used the word "odious" to describe Kazan whose crime was to reveal the names of Hollywood Stalinists. Now the left is very hot on free speech, especially for the left. But having a totalitarian mindset means that they define 'free speech' as complete agreement with their current 'party line'.

I know that many of us have heard or read about the fiendish Senator McCarthy and his Hollywood blacklist that denied work to patriotic American actors, producers, writers and directors because they had allegedly been associated with the CPUSA (Communist Party of the United States of America). Because of this infamy the mere mention of his name causes 'progressives' to turn apoplectic, even as they defend — as does Steven Soderbergh, Ed Asner, Benicio Del Toro, Robert Rederford, Sean Penn, etc. — sadistic leftwing killers like Che Guevara and Fidel Castro.

While Hollywood’s celluloid intellectuals blame McCarthy for the blacklisting and excoriate HUAC (House of Un-American Activities Committee) they overlook the simple historical fact that McCarthy was a Senator and was not elected until 1947 while HUAC had been set up in 1934 by Democrats.

At the time of the HUAC hearings McCarthy was running his own investigation into communist infiltration of the State Department and the military. He had nothing at all to do with any hearings on communism in the film industry which were conducted in the House of Representatives. Moreover, these investigations started in the 1940s and were requested by actors and studio executives, mainly as a reaction to the Communist Party's own blacklist, something the likes of Redford, Soderbergh, and the truly hateful Clooney would never think of mentioning.

The American left assiduously cultivate the myth that the CPUSA was never a threat to America anyway and that those associated with it were honest people motivated by idealism and a love of liberty. (Our left has used the same tactic to defend the treasonable activities of the Australian Communist Party). It follows that it is both absurd, as well as slanderous, to suggest that these people would use their positions in Hollywood to promote tyranny.

But the collapse of the Soviet empire and the subsequent opening of some the KGB's intelligence archives revealed the real story, the one the left is still trying to suppress by ignoring it. We now have the evidence that the CPUSA was, like the Australian Communist Party, fully controlled and financed by the Kremlin. In short, it was just a branch of the CPSU (Communist Party of the Soviet Union). This is one story that you can bet your last dollar on that neither Soderbergh or Clooney will ever film. After all, that would be the patriotic thing to do.

There is also the little matter of the Hollywood left-wing blacklist, the one we never hear about. Those who were on this list were anti-communists who suffered for their beliefs because they identified Stalinist toadies. Morrie Ryskind was one such person. He was an award-winning film writer until he told a congressional committee the truth about communists in the film industry. Suddenly he was unemployable.

And just in case you think this blacklist is dead, some years ago two young leftwing writers on the Sony Studio Lot had Robert Montgomery’s name taken off a building because he had been a "friendly witness" for HUAC. Needless to say, Clooney and the rest of the Hollywood left remained unmoved by this intolerant act of left wing bastardry. Their silence is not surprising considering the degree of left wing intimidation that comes from the Hollywood elite.

(This reminds of a very revealing complaint by Clooney: "There used to be three networks. Now there's hundreds and hundreds." He believes that news broadcasting should be restricted to three networks controlled entirely by people who agree with him. Tom Hanks is another example of Tinseltown's political intolerance. He called Mormons who support California’s Proposition 8 of being "un-American". It logically follows from this that conservatives are also "un-American").

Now one might say that it is all history now, water under the bridge and all that. But then such a person would have no idea of the left's capacity for hatred and revenge, specially the Hollywood left and its fellow traveling media mates, even those in Australia. This was made sickeningly clear when the Hollywood left blocked the distinguished director Elia Kazan's nomination by colleagues for the lifetime achievement award given each year by the American Film Institute and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.

Kazan who had directed such masterpieces as On the Waterfront, East of Eden and A Streetcar Named Desire and who had won two Oscars as a director was ignored in favor of the left-wing Roger Corman who won lasting fame for Attack of the Crab Monsters, Swamp Women and other masterpieces of schlock. So heavy was the stench of hypocrisy that even The New York Times felt impelled to comment on Hollywood's vindictiveness.

The famed then 87-year-old Kazan's unforgivable crime was to have truthfully told the House Committee on UnAmerican Activities in 1952 that he and eight of his friends had been fellow members of the communist party, from which he had resigned in disgust. Some of these men later admitted that Kazan told the truth. Nevertheless, until his death in 2003 at the age of 94 Kazan remained a political leper among Hollywood's politically correct.

These are same people who in October 1997 streamed into the Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences in Beverly Hills to see Hollywood Remembers the Blacklist, a film glorifying unrepentant Stalinists who wanted to turn the US into another Gulag. Needless to say, these are also same celluloid intellectuals who support cop-killers and murderous dictators – but only so long as they are socialists.

What is worthy of note here is the hypocrisy, political stupidity and moral baseness of these leftists. No wonder they feel comfortable supporting the Democrats.

It was Otto Katz who bragged: "I discovered Hollwood".  Katz was a Comintern agent sent by Stalin to turn Hollywood into an instrument of Soviet policy. He arrived in 1934 and was a great success with Hollywood leftists who fell over themselves to do his bidding. Some of those Stalinists lived long enough to attend the Hollywood Remembers the Blacklist love-in where they were enthusiastically greeted by the glitterati.

As proof that there is a divine providence, Katz (who was said to be implicated in the murder of Willi Münzenberg) was arrested in Prague in 1948 and became a victim of the Rajk-Slansky purges. He was tortured for months before being tried. He was convicted of treason and hanged the next day, His body was burnt and the remains put in a sack which was later dumped on the roadside. Not a tear seems to have been shed by his Hollywood pals. This would make a terrific film. It’s a great pity it will never be made.

IBM, 3M, PepsiCo Among Leading US Firms That House Chinese Communist Party Units: Leaked Database

Hundreds of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members are embedded within the Chinese divisions of major U.S. corporations, from IBM to PepsiCo to 3M, a leaked CCP-member database revealed.

The existence of Party units within foreign companies in China is hardly surprising, given that the regime mandates any organization with at least three CCP members to form a Party branch. But the 1.95 million CCP member list, which includes names, levels of education, ethnicity, and the Party branches they belong to, was to date the biggest revelation on the scale of the CCP’s influence on international companies.

Most of the members in the database are from the country’s southeastern coastal metropolis of Shanghai.

• New York-headquartered tech firm IBM has at least two dozen Party units with 808 members in China.
• 3M, a manufacturer of consumer and health care goods, including N95 respirators and other medical products critical to preventing COVID-19 spread, employs at least 230 CCP members within five Party units.
• PepsiCo, the multinational snack and beverage company, has 45 employees listed under the company’s Party branch committee.
• Dow Chemical Company, one of the world’s three largest chemical producers, lists 337 CCP members in four Party committees.
• Other notable U.S. firms on the list include Westin Hotel & Resorts owned by Marriott International (23 members); analytics firm Nielsen Holdings (94); leading food company Mars Food (14); and insurance provider MetLife (31).
• Earlier media reports have also highlighted CCP members’ presence at U.S. aerospace company Boeing, which employed at least 287 CCP members in 2016, and U.S. pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, with at least 69 Party members..............

Eugene Lyons, 1930s Commie Hunter

I was alerted to the incredible and impressive anti-communist journalistic career of Eugene Lyons only recently. I was doing my usual trolling through the conservative web sites when I came upon a review of an ancient (well, 78 years old) book The Red Decade, written by Eugene Lyons, a review by Harry Stein at City Journal. Mr. Stein, doing his job as a reviewer, said:

It may be that the best book that will ever be written about today’s progressive mind-set was published in 1941. That in The Red Decade  author Eugene Lyons was, in fact, describing the Communist-dominated American Left of the Depression-wracked 1930s and 1940s makes his observations even more meaningful, for it is sobering to be confronted with how little has been gained by hard experience.

I am a sucker for a good book, and I read Mr. Eugene Lyons’ book The Red Decade . I am transfixed by his erudition, capacity to capture the nature of the subject and his devotion to a detailed description of the communist infiltration of the United States in the 1930s.

Mr. Lyons, a journalist who was, early on, a socialist. was assigned by the United Press International to cover Russia in the early 30s, learned the realities and brought his knowledge back to the United States to expose the commies. His book Assignment in Utopia (1937) (still available) described the Stalin horrors and pogroms/purges/assassinations/famines, systematic killing when he returned to the US.

After returning to the US, he turned his eye to the domestic communist political project under the direction of Stalin and Moscow. His investigations and analysis result in the book that is the focus of my review, released in 1941 (still available, republished in 1970), that details the commie infiltration of the US under Stalinist control, the creation of front organizations, union infiltrations, academic and media influence, political and social take overs -- the magnitude of what Mr. Lyons documents is stunning and overwhelming............To Read More...

Tinseltown Turns Back the Clock with Trumbo Tribute

The eponymous protagonist of Trumbo, a new drama starring Bryan Cranston in the title role, comes billed as a blacklisted Hollywood screenwriter and a hero of sorts. Moviegoers may be surprised to learn that Dalton Trumbo was much more than that.......  Trumbo joined the Communist Party USA during the Hitler-Stalin Pact of 1939-1941, when many other Soviet sympathizers left the Party in disgust, never to return.......After World War II, Stalin mounted a surge to co-opt the studios through labor strikes and jurisdictional disputes. Trumbo scripted speeches for stars such as Katharine Hepburn who aligned with the Party-backed Conference of Studio Unions. After some initial victories, the Party encountered strong opposition........The reason Trumbo and other Stalinists defied the committee, as John Huston learned some years later, was that they had already testified to a California committee that they were not Communists. To admit that now would have been troublesome.  “When I believed them to have engaged to defend the individual,” Huston wrote to a colleague on August 23, 1952, “they were really looking after their own skins.”........The California dream factories aren’t into that kind of story. My Take - It's commonly believed these people were unjustly persecuted by Joe McCarthy, but the House Committee on Un-American Activities was a Democratic institution and they went after the Hollywood crowd with a vengeance. Was that unjustified? The article says,

"Trumbo joined the Communist Party USA during the Hitler-Stalin Pact of 1939-1941, when many other Soviet sympathizers left the Party in disgust, never to return"

But those who left saw the Communist Party USA for what it was. Nothing more than a tool of Joe Stalin. And those who remained knew that to be true, and those who stayed were from that point on agents of Stalin against the United States. Those who testified against them knew it and those who refused to testify knew it also the Party was nothing more than a subversive spy organization, including the formation of secret cells, all unknown to the other members. This failure to testify made them knowing enablers of subversive Stalinist agents in the U.S. That's history - everything else about this story is full of lies of commission, lies of omission, logical fallacies and "pure fantasy" to support the left wing activities of communists still active in Hollywood now, including people like Sean Penn.

I recommend those who really want to know the true story of the communist/Stalinist infestation of Hollywood/entertainment, the unions, the newspapers, the universities and most importantly – FDR’s government – please read Diana West’s American Betrayal.

I’ve been following this story for decades and as more and more information becomes available, especially after the fall of the Soviet Union when archives of the era became available – it has to be realized - Joe McCarthy was right. His numbers may have been off, and he clearly had problems, but those are separate issues. He was right. The government, including the State department and even what became the CIA had been infested with traitors. And I’ve come to the unpleasant conclusion FDR was among them, right along with Trumbo.

History points in no other direction.
