Who Should Apologize for Baltimore?

Gregory Hood, American Renaissance, May 2, 2018

Black police commissioner thinks white cops are to blame. Self-abasement is an odd strategy for law enforcement, yet that is what the Baltimore police have chosen. Police Commissioner Darryl De Sousa, a black man, apologized to the audience at a recent hip-hop concert for the bad behavior of the police department. Audio from the Baltimore Fishbowl shows he was mostly booed, but there was some scattered applause as he condemned the institution he was appointed to lead. Commissioner De Sousa was not alone on stage. He was joined by a minister from the Nation of Islam, another example of the odd pairings that blacks take for granted. ...............What kind of apology is this? Who has wronged whom, and for what? It’s unclear whether the commissioner was apologizing for the police not being tough enough on crack during the 1980s or for the alleged sentencing discrepancy for crack compared to powder cocaine.

If it is the latter, which seems likely, black politicians mostly supported the war on drugs in the 1970s and 1980s. ............The Obama administration notoriously called for an end to “zero tolerance” in school discipline. Just as the resulting cut back on discipline for non-white students made schools more chaotic, leniency for minor criminals in black areas harms blacks. Indeed, blacks seem to recognize this once they are in charge. The former black mayor of Baltimore, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, ordered a curfew for children under 16. Prominent black spokesmen such as Jesse Jackson and Roland Martin have called for federal law enforcement in Chicago. Mayor Ras Baraka of Newark, New Jersey, son of the fiercely anti-white poet Amiri Baraka, is still enforcing the city’s longtime curfew on unaccompanied minors..........

In his 2015 article on the Baltimore riots following the death of Freddie Gray, Jared Taylor noted that black residents blamed white people for their situation even though they were governed by an almost entirely black political establishment. ...........Whites have nothing for which to apologize. If anything, it is blacks who owe whites an apology for turning one of America’s greatest cities into a Third World embarrassment.............To Read More......

Who Is Mocking the Pence Rule Now?

Daniel John Sobieski

The chickens of the era of moral relativism are coming home to roost in the scandals that have rocked the studios of Hollywood, the green rooms of media moguls, and the cloak rooms of Congress. Are the cases of Matt Lauer, Harvey Weinstein, John Conyers, and Charlie Rose et al any surprise in an era where traditional marriage and fidelity to one spouse of the opposite sex have been under assault and routinely mocked?

We live in any age of transgendered restrooms, where transgendered athletes like Caitlyn Jenner are given courage awards by sports channels like ESPN. Harder work is done and truer courage shown every day by those who get married, stay married, stay in the body God gave them and withstand the mockery of a society that considers such people as fossils on the verge of extinction............Read more

The Age of Lunacy: Part I

 By Rich Kozlovich

I read an article by Rick Moran on the American Thinker website entitled, Movie reviewer complains no women, people of color in Dunkirk, discussing reviewerBrian Truitt, of USA Today complaining, "The trio of timelines can be jarring as you figure out how they all fit, and the fact that there are only a couple of women and no lead actors of color may rub some the wrong way."

Apparently Truitt was unaware this movie is about a true story.  An actual historical event where-in  white men were dying on the beaches of Dunkirk being saved by other white men - many of them civilians - putting their lives and their property at very real risk in order to save these white men.  So, were there any people of color there?  I have no idea and I don't care quite frankly because if there were that number had to be amazingly small.  But given the time frame - it's unlikely they were among those fighting regiments of English soldiers.

Moran pointed out the politically correct watchdogs touted this same horn about the 1993 film Gettysburg.  There were black regiments in the Union Army, but none of them were at gettysburg.  If that's the case then why would they be in the film?   Because political correctness is more important than facts or historical accuracy!   Can you imagine how excited the PC Police would have been if Maxine Waters played General Lee instead of Martin Sheen, or even better, Wanda Sykes, a black woman lesbian?  Now that's inclusion!

Then we have students petitioning their college to close Chick-fil-A because it's 'homophobic'.  As always with the left a small minority with radical - and often non-traditional views - attempt to force their views on the American public.   Once again the leftists demand no opinions but their own be tolerated.  Leftist views have been detrimental to society for decades and the public remains silent for fear of being accused of some phobia or other.

As for what goes on in universities - if there ever was a case for believing these are insane aslyums being run by the inmates, this is it.

Currently the national debt for student loans is "$1.4 trillion"  Yes, you got it right.  That's trillion! "$600 billion more than all the US credit card debt combined!" And what are they "teaching" these kids?  Well, one thing they're promoting is it's acceptable to be a racist if you hate white people.

"New York University Librarian says she has hit her “race fatigue” limit while being in the presence of “white people.”'  Was she black? Of course!  How do I know that?  If she were white the internet would have lighted up with outrage demanding her firing.  That didn't happen.

Harvard wants to expel any student that joins “single gender” social clubs, fraternities, sororities, and others."' In another case one "university professor wrote that citations in scholarly articles contribute to “white heteromasculinity” especially if they question research by women and people of color!"  Which of course means it's unacceptable to peer review or criticize any research done by a black or a woman, especially a black woman.  And "Harvard will also be deleting the reference to Puritans from their alma mater. Why you ask? Because it’s not diverse or inclusive."  Got to get rid of all that pesky history stuff.

In fact it appears these "institutions of higher learning "now have segregated graduations because nothing says inclusiveness and equality like segregation! Are these professors and administrators really educated?"

And now "Eloy Ortiz Oakley, chancellor of California Community Colleges wants to abolish the college algebra requirement and called it a “civil rights issue."'  I can understand that, after all, how can these students be expected to devote time to demonstrations supporting the latest leftist philosophical flavor of the day if they're required to actually study?

We truly have created an Age of Lunacy.

Eco-Loons on the March

By James Delingpole

I would like to thank James for allowing me to republish his works. This appeared in The Spectator here. RK

Only this morning I got an email from an evidently very bright 17-year-old at a certain nameless public school. ‘I’m so sick of having to study “environmental ethics” for hours on end, being split into “study groups”, and making lovely colourful mind-maps for presentations; the syllabus is infantile, and I feel increasingly infantilised by my relativist, happy-clappy and downright incompetent teachers,’ he wrote. Amen, brother.

I’m not sure who I feel sorrier for: the poor kids being force-fed this drivel; or the poor parents who probably imagined that for the price of £30,000 a year they’d bought the right not to have their beloved ones indoctrinated with all this specious eco-propaganda. But there’s no escape, unfortunately, from the ‘Clamour of the Times’. More unfortunately still, this clamour is going to have truly dangerous consequences for us all.

One of these consequences — the growth of eco-terrorism — was explored in this week’s Storyville: If a Tree Falls — a Story of the Earth Liberation Front (BBC4, Monday). It concerned the various members of ELF (a bit like ALF, only for tree-huggers rather than animal-rights Nazis) imprisoned for a wave of arson attacks on the logging industry in the Pacific North West.

Despite having burned down dozens of buildings and having caused millions of dollars-worth of damage and disruption, the ELF activists still couldn’t see that they’d done wrong. ‘No one got hurt, no one got injured,’ said one of their ringleaders, Daniel McGowan, piously. As for the suggestion that he was guilty of terrorism, this was clearly beyond absurd. ‘Most people who know me, when they hear I’m being charged for terrorism offences, are like “Whaaat?!”’ said McGowan. Then again, since most of McGowan’s ‘people’ seemed to be fellow eco-terrorists, that’s probably not so much of a surprise as he thinks.

McGowan’s description of the moment he was radicalised sounded awfully similar to the way Islamists are recruited on campus. He went along to a meeting where he was shown movie montage of sundry environmental ‘crimes’ — forests being chopped down; oil wells leaking; whales being harpooned — which made him go, ‘Holy crap! What the hell are we doing?’

Though McGowan was at pains to present himself as just an ordinary, caring, sensitive guy driven to radical action by a sense of burning injustice, one of his comrades rather gave lie to this. ‘We used to call him “the Disgruntled One”,’ remembered the friend. ‘Because he was nasty and bitter.’ McGowan’s long-suffering sister, meanwhile — who had put up his bail money and housed him (and his even more irritating girlfriend) while he was awaiting trial — told the story of his obsessive environmentalism. One day, she came home to find he had removed all the labels from the cans so he could recycle the paper. ‘But now I can’t tell what’s in the cans, whether it’s soup or peas or corn or what,’ she said. ‘I never thought of that,’ said Daniel.

And that, of course, is the problem. Like all zealots, these eco-loons are so persuaded of the unassailable righteousness of their cause that they simply cannot see the bigger picture. For example, though clearly it is not a pretty sight when an entire hillside’s-worth of mighty trees that have been growing for 500 years are brutally felled, it’s not as though a bunch of nasty men are doing it just for fun. It’s because wood is an invaluable (and renewable) resource which, like it or not, our civilisation uses in great quantities.

This is exactly the kind of muddled thinking that drove Greenpeace founder member Patrick Moore (not the astronomer; this one’s Canadian) to quit the organisation in disgust in the 1980s. As he writes in his book Confessions of a Greenpeace Dropout, ‘Apparently the people who used the wood to build their homes, print their books and magazines, and wipe their bottoms were not to blame. It was the loggers and most particularly the multinational forest corporations who employed them who were the real evil-doers, according to activist theory.’

It’s one of the reasons I spent a good chunk of the past two years of my life writing Watermelons — not because I’m obsessed with ‘Global Warming’ (God, no! I’m sick to death of it) but because I’m excruciatingly aware just how pervasive a hold the global environmental religion has exerted on the public imagination. I never wanted to be the boy who points out that the emperor is wearing no clothes. But some poor sod’s got to or we’ll be stuck with this lunacy for ever.

That’s a plug for my new book, out this week, by the way. It’s brilliant, it’s funny and you’ll love it. And just in case you failed to get the hint, here it is: Watermelons: How Environmentalists Are Killing The Planet, Destroying The Economy And Stealing Your Children’s Future (Biteback) is out now.
