Let's Talk About Hannah Dugan, Part II

By Rich Kozlovich, Tags: Let's Talk About Hannah Dugan, and a Judiciary That's Out of Control, Progressives Pick Another Losing Battle After Second Judge Arrested

 Judge Hannah Dugan

First, I would like to note that she can't be all that bad. After all, someone actually married this woman, right?  Nah, I'm just being a snot, but what is true is she helped a criminal escape arrest and needs to be put in jail.  She distracted the ICE agents by demanding they see the department head, and then released the criminal out another door the agents weren't guarding.

There were a number of judicial abuses by this judge:

Flores-Ruiz and his attorney were headed toward the public exit when Dugan allegedly said, “Wait, come with me,” according to one witness, and “forcefully motioned” them toward the bench. She then led them out through the jury door, a restricted access point defendants not in custody are not permitted to use.

She returned to her courtroom and continued her docket—but not Flores-Ruiz’s case. Later that morning, the state prosecutor present in court to handle the matter realized that the case had never been called and inquired with the court. Only then did the attorney learn that Flores-Ruiz’s case had been adjourned—without the prosecutor’s knowledge, input, or participation—even though the victims were represented and present in the courtroom.

So, why aren't I using the word "alleged" as you will see in most articles?  She admits she committed the crime she's charged with by her defense.    Now she's saying her actions are covered by judicial immunity, ergo, she admits she did exactly what she's being accused of, and the problem with that is she wasn't acting in her official capacity.  She, just as so many other judges either don't know the law or don't care what the law says.   She's been suspended by the state and the DOJ is prosecuting her, and if there really is any justice in America, she's going to jail.

Is this a message by the Trump administration?  Yes, is it's one that's long overdue, as America is facing it's third rebellion by the judiciary at all levels.

Update, 5/22/25:  And the hits just keep on coming.   It's looking worse and worse for Judge Hannah....ooops.... former Judge Hannah, future prisoner.   Surveillance Footage: Indicted Wisconsin Judge Helps Illegal Alien Evade Arrest

UPDATE, 5/31/25:  Wisconsin Activist Judge Hannah Dugan Claims ‘Absolute Immunity’ Against ‘Ugly’ DOJ Charges -  A Democrat-aligned Wisconsin activist judge at the center of a controversial immigration-related case is seeking to have federal charges against her dismissed. Judge Hannah Dugan is arguing that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) indictment violates both constitutional protections and judicial independence. Attorneys for Dugan recently expanded their motion to dismiss the charges, asserting that the federal government overstepped its authority when it arrested and indicted her. They maintain that Dugan is protected by judicial immunity, which shields judges from prosecution for official acts performed in their role. Her legal team also invoked the Tenth Amendment and the constitutional separation of powers...........

My Take - This has the sound of desperation to it.  We're expected to believe hiding and deliberately helping a criminals to escape arrest from federal law enforcement officials is now falls under the category of official judicial duties?   Even in Wisconsin that's nuts.  And once again, her defense condemns her, since she's in effect saying she did exactly what the prosecutors said she did.

Let's Talk About Hannah Dugan, and a Judiciary That's Out of Control

By Rich Kozlovich

There's been a big uproar over Wisconsin state judge Hannah Dugan over her being arrested by the federal government for her complicity in aiding and abetting the escape of an illegal alien, one with a criminal record.

First, unlike some claims ICE didn't' barge into her courtroom.  They waited in the hall for the case before Dugan and this criminal to be over before arresting him.  When she found out she huffed and puffed her way out into the hall and chastising them demanding what right they had to arrest this man without an arrest warrant, and to gain time to aid his escape:

......she instructed the agents to obtain a judicial warrant for Ruiz's arrest, which bought time, ultimately leading to the great escape. Federal agents later caught Ruiz, and Judge Dugan was arrested later.

An administrative warrant isn't the same as an arrest warrant.  But, when observing someone committing a crime the police are arresting people daily without a warrant, and if someone is here illegally, by their very presence they're committing a crime, in point of fact, a felony, and since she helped him to escape, that's a crime, and it's punishable by law:

Per 8 U.S.C. § 1324:........(1)(A) Any person who—.........(iii) knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation;.........shall be punished as provided in subparagraph (B).

According to subparagraph (B), the consequences are steep: Since Dugan presumably acted not for financial gain, which could mean up to 10 years in prison, but for other reasons (e.g., fighting imaginary “Nazis”), she faces fines or up to five years in prison, or both.

April 28, 2025 by Silvio Canto, Jr. writes instead of enforcing the nation's laws judges are acting like immigration activists.  Through their decisions and actions they are in effect writing de facto new immigration "laws".  Unwritten laws based on their personal morality.  Laws no legislature in the nation ever passed.  And in Wisconsin Hannah Dugan isn't an anomaly, she's part of a philosophical cabal, as another Milwaukee County judge joins rebellion.  After all, these laws were written by some old white guys in some dusty old document from the 18th century, and they're far more noble and far wiser being guided by a higher cause.  So, in the universal leftist mind set, that justifies viewing laws actually passed by Congress as meaningless, and can be ignored, and even usurped.   Isn't that a form of insurrection?  Just a thought.

Only the Trump administration disagrees.  AG Bondi intends to prosecute these judges who are in violation federal law in their attempt to obstruct the efforts of the Trump administration.  And she needs to look at the governors of these states also.

What's been the reaction from the left? While touting the phrase, “no one is above the law", which no Democrat really believes when it comes to .... well.... Democrats, and those criminals they wish to protect.  Dem Rep. Moore says a judge’s control is ‘bigger, and that “jurists ought to be able to have control of their courtroom, and localities should not be pressured into executing and assisting ICE, and I think that’s the bigger question.”   What a load of clabber, and when asked if Judge Dugan should be required to follow the law she evades answering with more clabber:

“Well, you know what, this is not fair to ask me that question, because she has not had her day in court yet to litigate and to defend herself vigorously, which I think she will do. What you’re asking me to do is…to sort of not go along with what I believe is — because I think that ICE ought to operate and they ought to do it clearly, outside of her — not outside her courtroom, but maybe on the street, where they arrested him on the street was the appropriate place. They should not even have been in the courthouse as far as I’m concerned. And so, to say that they can arrest you in the cafeteria of the hospital, but not in your hospital room, this is slicing and dicing it in such a way where the Justice Department is determined to intimidate the judiciary. And I think that we need to fight back.”

It's interesting, that's not the way they viewed the staged arrests by the FBI of Trump supporters in recent years with swat team early morning arrests of totally non-violent old men forcing a hand cuffed perp walk with the Pravda media there waiting to film it.

Milwaukee’s mayor, Cavalier Johnson, says it's just wrong for Trump to enforce the law and to  scare innocent illegal aliens, implying what Dugan did was the right thing to do.   Did he actually say "innocent illegal aliens"?  If they're here illegally, they're not innocent, they're criminals.

It appears the entire body of government in Wisconsin is infected with this insanity, as Wisconsin Rep.: Dugan says, what Hannah Dugan did is "what all of us will be called to do in the days and weeks and months to come, and it’s standing up for people in our community that are being targeted by the Trump regime”, and Wisconsin's lawless governor issues guidelines to shield illegal aliens from ICE agents

Democrats chose a hill to die on—they will defend the last violent, human-trafficking Central American gangbanger escape from ICE no matter what the cost. According to documents leaked by conservative radio host Dan O'Donnell, a Department of Administration (DOA) memo dated April 18 lays out explicit steps for Wisconsin state workers to follow when ICE agents arrive at government buildings. Instead of cooperating with federal immigration enforcement, employees are being told to stonewall — refuse to answer questions, deny access to files, and even demand agents leave if no attorney is available.

What about Democrat governors around the nation?  Arizona Gov. Hobbs has vetoed a  bill that requires the police to cooperate with ICE, which matters little because there's federal law that requires state law enforcement to cooperate, and at some point I'm convinced the Trump administration will start invoking and enforcing that law, which means legislators, governors, and law enforcement people might be arrested.   Governors like Illinois Governor JB Pritzker who declares “The State of Illinois will Stand Up for the Rule of Law”.

Then we have that giant intellect, Chris Christie, who says while Judge Dugan over stepped her bounds, but she shouldn't be put in jail.  Over stepped her bounds? So that's what it's called with someone helps criminals to escape law enforcement?  Remarkable!

Then there's Judge Andrew Napolitano, who went over to the dark side years ago, says Trump overreached with this arrest, calling it a, ‘Jihad Against Judges’, decrying administrative warrants, and saying he thinks this judge has immunity.  Well, that's not a universal view, and apparently she also thinks she's not immune since Dugan has added a former Bush solicitor general to her high priced defense team.  Who's funding that?

Jonathan Turley seems to think it's "out-of-control judges, not FBI, appear to have crossed 'red line', and a black robe doesn't make one immune from the rule of law".   A Yale law professor thinks the arrest is legitimate.  The Wisconsin state Supreme Court, a very liberal court, has temporarily pulled this judge from the bench, with former Governor Scott Walker saying:  "It is time for the members of the Wisconsin State Legislature to vote to remove her from office."

The complaint is the Trump administration is doing this to send a message.  Good, and in point of fact, Congress Should Expand Scope of Expedited Removals to Include Mass Deportation.

As for calling this arrest a "jihad against the judiciary", here's who threw down the gauntlet.

This is a battle that's been long overdue, and now that gauntlet has been picked up by an administration willing to do battle.

One more thing.  It's long past time former Biden and Obama administration officials faced the consequences for the crimes they committed while in office, including Mayorkas! For murder.

Editor's Note:  And the hits keep right on coming.  Now we see why she's had to hire a high priced team of attorneys to defend her.  I would love to know where the money is coming from to pay them.  At any rate, it's getting worse by the day, and by all rights, she should end up in jail. Here's the latest update.  RK

Progressives Pick Another Losing Battle After Second Judge Arrested

This latest crusade against the Trump administration is going to go about as well as “Maryland man.”

By | Apr 27, 2025 @ Liberty Nation News, Tags: Articles, Opinion, Politics

When a former judge was escorted out of his New Mexico residence in handcuffs, many leftists probably thought they had been gifted a fresh angle on the “Trump is a dictator” narrative. The morning after that April 24 incident, a second judge was put in handcuffs, in Wisconsin. Already, it is beginning to appear that some Democratic politicians are going to ensnare themselves as they did with the deported El Salvadoran, Kilmar Abrego Garcia: the “Maryland man.”

Siding with lawbreakers, or suspected lawbreakers, while ignoring the will of a significant majority of Americans is politically awkward enough. Now, once again, a number of leftist lawmakers are setting themselves up to defend the indefensible – and all because their hatred of President Trump has robbed them of the ability to deal reasonably and rationally with any cultural issue or policy position.

Judge Arrested for Preventing an Arrest

Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan, the second judge arrested in as many days, allegedly facilitated the escape, from her own courtroom, of Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, an illegal alien from Mexico with a history of violence. Flores-Ruiz was at the courthouse for a pre-trial conference when federal agents arrived to detain him. Dugan reportedly obstructed the agents’ search and whisked Flores-Ruiz away to a back door. He was chased down in the street by the agents shortly thereafter.

Both judges, it appears, have committed federal crimes. Joel Cano, the former New Mexico judge arrested along with his wife, was apparently harboring an illegal alien, Cristhian Ortega-Lopez, in his home. Cano also reportedly admitted to FBI agents that he destroyed a cellphone belonging to the Venezuelan because it had incriminating photos on it, including pictures of Ortega-Lopez, allegedly a Tren de Aragua gang member, with firearms.

Ortega-Lopez was arrested in late February at Cano’s home. In March, the magistrate judge resigned and has since been permanently barred from serving on the bench by the New Mexico Supreme Court. Cano faces charges of harboring three alleged Tren de Aragua members and evidence tampering. Dugan has been charged with “obstructing and impeding a proceeding before a department or agency of the United States” and “concealing an individual to prevent his discovery and arrest.”

Much of the left’s reaction to these arrests has been astounding, to say the least. Once again, several progressives have shown they will leap headlong into any fight with President Trump, even if it means they find themselves defending something morally repugnant or legally questionable.

No One Is Buying What They Are Selling

As could have been expected, some Democratic officeholders rushed to express their outrage on X. Also, as expected, they attempted to gaslight Americans by spinning a story labeling Trump as a tyrant rather than face the fact that a judge was arrested for allegedly committing one or more felonies.

“The FBI arrested a Wisconsin judge who stood up for due process for immigrants,” wrote Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA). “This is unprecedented. All of us need to stand up and speak out against arresting judges in this country. We are living in dangerous times.”

This is not the first (or even the second) time this has happened. In 2019, a Massachusetts District Court judge was indicted, along with another officer of the court, after attempting to help an illegal alien evade arrest by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

Liberty Nation depends on the support of our readers.

Senator Tina Smith (D-MN) decided to ignore the circumstances of the cases altogether. “Understand what this is: If Kash Patel and Donald Trump don’t like a judge, they think they can arrest them,” she posted. “This is stunning — we must stand up to this blatant power grab.”

It’s quite likely that Trump never heard of either judge arrested this past week until after the fact, and FBI Director Kash Patel may only have been vaguely aware of Cano’s existence because of an ongoing investigation relating to the illegal alien arrested at his residence.

Conservatives on X wasted no time reminding their left-wing acquaintances that “no one is above the law,” as the left has said numerous times since Donald Trump first walked into the Oval Office as President in 2017. That tiresome six-word phrase was often followed by, “Not even the president.” Yet the other senator from Minnesota, Amy Klobuchar – even after conceding that “we don’t have all the details,” described Judge Dugan’s arrest as “a grave step” that “undermines our system of checks and balances.” The X account called Republicans against Trump also weighed in: “Judges don’t get arrested in a functioning democracy.” The account did not elaborate on how a democracy functions if judges are, as the post suggests, entirely immune to the criminal justice system.

It seems, then, that presidents are not above the law, but judges are, in the eyes of Trump’s detractors.

If there were a cake to take, Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) took it by writing: “The Trump Administration just arrested a sitting judge. This is what happens in authoritarian countries. Stand up now—or lose the power to do so later. The administration must drop all charges and respect separation of powers.”

The Trump administration’s every act, just about, since January, has been blocked by federal judges. These judges have interfered in almost every aspect of executive branch policy. It appears that respect for the separation of powers is not something that’s very high on the list of things about which many leftists care.

Misreading America – Again

This is another fight Trump’s political enemies will probably lose, at least in the arena of public opinion. Few Americans, it is fair to assume, will like the idea that a judge can act with impunity, even when the evidence suggests the judge actively aided a violent illegal alien. Americans traditionally have been known for a basic sense of fairness and a sense that, indeed, no one should be above the law – especially those charged with enforcing it and applying it to suspected lawbreakers.

Several anti-Trumpers are now beginning to realize that beatifying a deported illegal alien suspected of both domestic abuse and being a member of MS-13 was not the best idea. Assuming both these judges are brought to trial, the evidence will be aired for all to see. And assuming the evidence against them is compelling, it will be interesting to see how long some Democrats continue trying to pretend the judges were only arrested because Trump is a dictator. Pulling one’s hand from a fire is the sane thing to do. Holding it there and waiting for the burning to stop is not.
