My day started out with this article e-mailed to me from Freedom Updates, You Won't Believe Who Biden Has Picked For Secretary Of Health, by Magnus McCoy saying

There are things that we should all agree on regardless of our political beliefs, but liberals seem to be more about being amicable than being right so they believe in all of the gender identity nonsense. So unfortunately due to Biden's "wokeness" he has chosen a trans-gendered Secretary of Health, Rachel Levine. We can only hope that she doesn't want to make her trans- beliefs American policy............Biden commented on the choice.

"Dr. Rachel Levine will bring the steady leadership and essential expertise we need to get people through this pandemic — no matter their zip code, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability — and meet the public health needs of our country in this critical moment and beyond," Biden said in a statement. "She is a historic and deeply qualified choice to help lead our administration's health efforts."

"Levine said in a statement later Tuesday that she is proud of the work she did to address health and LGBTQ equity issues in the state and that she is honored to have served Pennsylvanians.

Deeply qualified?  Steady leadership?  Levine's proud of the work done in Pennsylvania? Really? Ya gotta be kiddin me!  As the kid in the Little Rascals said: Remarkable!

Bypassing the trans issue for the moment let's deal with competence.  A friend of mine from Pennsylvania sent me an e-mail about Levine saying:

The trans thing might be helpful to Biden's yielding of elbow room space at the Great Federal Hog Trough to someone who is useful to his political coalition. But the greatest usefulness of Dr. Levine is her absolute certainty of her medical judgment, and her willingness to step forward and assume whatever role her current Master wants.

And this may not be his worst pick. Are you happy now? PA Governor Wolf has absolutely deserted the public playing field of the COVID-19 wars, and yielded all presence and power to Dr. Levine since February 2020. I don't think I exaggerate when I say that Levine has been the de facto PA Governor since the Pandemic hit the fan.

That willingness to assume public responsibility for narrowly focused, morally "righteous" decisions, reasonableness be damned and consequences ignored, is what has distinguished Levine's tenure.

He went on to report how Levine was totally dictatorial (more on that) in her guideline assessments of what businesses could open and under what conditions, and even if those conditions were met, Levine would then arbitrarily ignore them and cancel events without explanation.

If what she did for Pennsylvania is any indicator for what she wants to do for America, then America is in for a rough ride.

Well, is my assessment harsh or irrational?  Well, I've paid attention to what she did in Pennsylvania over the last year, and I don't think my evaluation is harsh enough, and its certainly not irrational.

Here's Andrea Widburg's view of Rachel Levine's qualifications and actions in her piece, Biden dives into identity politics with a health department appointment, discussing what she did for Pennsylvania saying:

On Tuesday, news broke that Joe Biden will nominate Dr. R. Levine, a pediatrician and Pennsylvania’s Secretary of Health, to the position of assistant secretary for health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This is a peculiar nomination given that, early in the Wuhan virus pandemic, Dr. Levine became nationally known for both deadly and selfish behavior. But that’s all water under the bridge. What matters is that Dr. Levine, a biological male, thinks he is a woman. With qualifications like that, who’s going to quibble about actual competence?

Levine's record as Secretary of Health for Pennsylvania? Widburg goes on to say: Dr. Levine’s body dysmorphia, however, qualifies him for a job that, as a practical matter, should be withheld from him on grounds of both competence and decency. In May, when the number of COVID deaths in Pennsylvania was escalating, Levine moved his 95-year-old mother out of the care facility in which she was living, (more Here on that and Here on Levine's corruption) because of the COVID crisis. This came two months after Levine turned Pennsylvania’s nursing homes into abattoirs:

By August 2020, Pennsylvania’s nursing home deaths were so high that the Department of Justice initiated an investigation, as well as investigating deaths in nursing homes in New York, New Jersey, and Michigan. As of this writing, 32,113 Pennsylvania nursing home residents have been infected and 7,327 have died.

Widburg concludes saying:

Having said that, a culture cannot survive if it makes public policy out of people’s sad delusions. One day, when the dust finally settles, people will look back in wonder at the notion of entrusting a major nation’s health policies to a person with a track record of bad and selfish decisions, solely because that person has body dysmorphia.

And this may not be his worst pick, more to come!
