More than a thousand alumni and faculty of St. Lawrence University are calling for Republican Sen. Susan Collins to be stripped of her honorary degree after voting to confirm Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
Two letters were sent to the university’s President William Fox last week, but the signatories grew to include more than 1,800 alumni and dozens of faculty by Tuesday.
CBS News first reported on the petitions.
“St. Lawrence students, faculty, and alumni have long fought to hear victims of sexual assault on our own campus,” the alumni letter read. “We feel that Sen. Collins’ support of Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court is not in line with the core values of St. Lawrence University and the commitments of its faculty, students, and staff.”
The Maine senator received the degree from her own alma mater in 2017 for opposing the GOP’s effort to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. Faculty and alumni now argue that her vote for Justice Kavanaugh undermined her commitment to university’s values..........To Read More.....

Sen. Collins Criticizes Democrats' Handling of Christine Blasey Ford's Accusations Against Kavanaugh

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) told The New York Times Sunday that the way Democrats have handled Christine Blasey Ford’s accusations of sexual assault against Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh was “not fair” to Kavanaugh or Ford.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) initially referred Ford’s anonymous allegations against Kavanaugh to the FBI last week although she was aware of them back in July. Ford, a California college professor, finally revealed her identity to The Washington Post Sunday along with more details about the allegations that Kavanaugh locked her in a room, groped her, and put his hand over her mouth during a high school party.
“What is puzzling to me is the Democrats, by not bringing this out earlier, after having had this information for more than six weeks, have managed to cast a cloud of doubt on both the professor and the judge,” Sen. Collins commented.
“If they believed Professor Ford, why didn’t they surface this information earlier so that he could be questioned about it?” she wondered. “And if they didn’t believe her and chose to withhold the information, why did they decide at the 11th hour to release it? Collins, Kavanaugh, and the Rewards of ‘Moderation’
The left turns on Susan Collins despite her years of cosseting them.

We have all seen those grisly stories in the news about people who adopt dangerous predators as pets only to be torn limb from limb by the very creatures they have cosseted for years. This is analogous to what is now happening to Susan Collins. The Maine Senator has frequently curried favor with the left by taking “principled stands” against her fellow Republicans on issues like Obamacare, and basked in the praise of progressives. Collins presumably thought this meant she was safe from the left’s innate brutishness when she took a perfectly reasonable position regarding SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh............
Included in the “onslaught of pressure” has been a standard tactic employed when the Democrats loose the dogs of disinformation — harassment of her family and staff. There have been profane out-of-state voicemails left on their answering machines, thousands of coat hangers sent in the mail (presumably suggesting that Judge Kavanaugh would somehow return us to that mythical age when countless women received abortions in back alleys), protesters yelling obscenities in her front yard, and of course that old lefty standby — overt threats of violence.......
There’s a lesson in all this for “moderate” GOP politicians and the electorate. The Democrats can’t be trusted — ever. They, and the people who finance them, are dangerous political predators who will always turn on you, sooner or later..........To Read More.....
