It may be telling that, around the nation and for a variety of reasons, the overwhelming sentiment seems to be “has the world gone crazy?”. There’s no one in particular to blame for this. We are just living in strange times. I suppose that the events of the late 1960’s were of a similar ilk, with the nation rebounding from the assassination of JFK, and our country today still wearing the scars of a tragic day in September some 17 years ago. In these periods of unease and weirdness, portions of the population will look to ancient and ethereal superstitions for comfort. (Hey, whatever floats your boat).
