Visiting US, London mayor says immigrants shouldn't have to assimilate

Sadiq Khan is presuming to lecture a country that has successfully assimilated 140 million people in the last 170 years.

On a visit to Chicago, London mayor Sadiq Kahn lectured the U.S. on how to welcome immigrants to the U.S.  He said integration, not assimilation should be the goal in developing "cohesive communities."

Voice of America:

“One of the lessons from around the world is that a laissez faire or hands-off approach to social integration doesn't work. We need rules, institutions and support to enable people to integrate into cohesive communities and for the avoidance of doubt, I don't mean assimilation, I mean integration, and there's a difference,” Khan said. “People shouldn't have to drop their cultures and traditions when they arrive in our cities and countries.”

Note that Khan is presuming to lecture a country that has successfully assimilated 140 million people in the last 170 years. It was done without forcing the newcomers to give up their culture.  To this day, we celebrate the cultures of other countries together, as Americans.  Pride in one's ethnicity is encouraged.  And while there are forces trying to destroy the "melting pot" model, they haven't met with much success...yet.

Perhaps Khan could have given some examples where the assimilation model was a failure and the integration model was a success.......More

My Take - He's the Mayor of London....which carries far more responsibility and power than mayors normally have going back for centuries.  However, he's also a Muslim, further proving his city is now Londonistan - not London. 

Someone should ask him if it's okay to go to a Muslim dominated and ruled country and refuse to assimilate according to Muslim traditions and law.  Remember, being a Christian has become deadly in many of those lands and this guy has said nothing about it. 

Does he believe non-Muslim women in Muslim countries practicing Sharia should be allowed to dress as they please, drive cars on their own or go out in public without a male relative?  If you have any doubts, Look at what he's done thus far. 

If a conservative Christian had attempted to do this he would have been excoriated in the media unendingly.  Remember when Attorney General Ashcroft covered naked statues at the Justice Department?  So where's the outrage over this guy's actions?

I will guarantee you this - Muslims are just like leftists,  Rules apply when they like them and don't apply when they don't like them.   Under the influence of the left and Muslim activists we've lost the concept of a true rule of law.

We've lost our minds.
