First, put term limits on all of Congress. The Senate has a boatload of dysfunctional dinosaurs and the House has a multitude of greedy power-mongering weasels.
Second, outlaw lobbyists. It is, "We the People," not, "we the corporations," nor, "we the special interests." The current system is a crony capitalism process with insiders and politicians doing each other financial favors - otherwise known as bribes.........Full Story
My Take - There are some great suggestions here, but there's really only three things that need to be done.
Repeal the 16th amendment, repeal the 17th amendment, and pass a 28th amendment.Eliminate the 16th amendment on income taxation and replace it with a national sales tax - on everything - no exceptions. Everyone needs to have skin in the game, not a system where 47% of the population pay no federal income tax and then claim the other 53% aren't paying their fair share.
Repeal the 17th amendment which is how Senators are chosen. Originally Senators were to be ambassadors to the central government from the states, and were appointed by their states - not elected by the people. That's what the House of Representatives was for. This created a balance of power to keep the federal government from getting out of control.
Third, pass a 28th amendment to place term and age restrictions on the federal judiciary. After that....everything else will fall into place.
