John Boehner rises from the ashtray of political defeat to become a tobacco lobbyist

By Chris Pandolfo

John Boehner has cashed out. That is the news from The Intercept, which describes how the former Speaker of the House is “monetizing his decades of political relationships and cashing out to serve some of the most powerful special interests in the world.” In other words, in less than one year since leaving Congress, Boehner has become a lobbyist. Lee Fang and The Intercept report:.........This was entirely predictable. K Street is a revolving door for former politicians who seek to make a quick buck using the relationships they have built in the legislature to dance bills to the tune of lobbying firms. Boehner has always served special interests. Now he’s just doing it from outside Congress, instead of inside........See more

My Take - As a side bar:
Boehner’s Replacement Joins House Freedom Caucus

The House Freedom Caucus was largely responsible for pushing out former Speaker of the House John Boehner.  In addition to resigning as speaker, Boehner left congress altogether. Now, his replacement Warren Davidson has joined the group responsible for Boehner's ouster. CNN reports:
Ohio Rep. Warren Davidson on Thursday joined the House Freedom Caucus, the group largely responsible for pushing out Boehner last year.
The Freedom Caucus, which supported Davidson's bid in a crowded GOP field to fill Boehner's seat earlier this month, voted earlier this week to extend an invitation to him to join the group. The caucus, which includes roughly 40 conservatives, has become an influential force in the House and has worked to urge leaders to include their priorities in the House agenda.
Davidson received the endorsement of several conservative PACs back in February. He won the special election to serve the remainder of John Boehner’s term on Tuesday.

And the question should be:  Will this be the pattern with people like Mitch McConnell, Lyndsay Graham, John McCain and their ilk? As for John Kasich - we won't have to worry about, think about or listen to Kasich after 2018. ...he's term liminted.
