The article “Early Text Uncovered in Burned Scroll” was a fascinating examination of the use of technology for “virtual unwrapping” to “recover words” from “texts damaged by fire or shredding”, “without ever touching it”.
The closing sentence leaves unsaid however, something of more importance than the document itself. It states, “The entire town (i.e. a Jewish village in Israel called En-Gedi) and its synagogue burned to the ground sometime around the year 600.”
While idle speculation might suggest a forest fire or wooden homes, something far more likely, sinister and relevant goes unmentioned.
As we hear that significant (25% +) numbers of Moslems in America and Europe say they want to return to Somalia or Saudi Arabia et al and that they desire to live under Sharia Law rather than the US Constitution or European laws I am reminded of a Ghana native graduate student that once told my wife and I over dinner about the historic and deadly strife in N Ghana and Nigeria in “mixed” (Moslem/Christian) communities. “When the Moslem percentage reaches 25 to 30% it begins, and by the time it reaches 40+% it turns into riots, burnings and killings” he said.
Is it not relevant when reporting a phenomenon like a burned village and historic documents being recovered; to mention that the date of the destruction of the village coincided with the Arab Moslem conquest and occupation of present-day Israel in the early 7th century AD? Especially, as we debate US Moslem immigration/refugee policies in the midst of shootings, stabbings and explosions?
