Educrats and history

Political correctness still threatens the education of American youth. Consider the Advanced Placement curriculum standards for American History released by the College Board, sponsor of AP exams, in July to take effect for future examinations.

The standards take 98 pages to explore. We are grateful to Larry Krieger, a former history teacher and founder of Insider Test Prep, and Jane Robbins of the American Principles Project for producing, on behalf of the Heartland Institute, a guide to the syrupy document.  The standards do not mention Benjamin Franklin or Martin Luther King Jr. George Washington gets one reference, about his Farewell Address. There is no reference to the Mayflower Compact, the 10th Federalist paper or the Gettysburg Address. But the Black Panthers are in there.  The standards reek of liberal politics. For example, they assert that teachers can “debate the underlying and proximate causes of environmental catastrophes arising from pesticide use and offshore oil drilling.” Problems, yes, but the wild exaggeration “catastrophe” reveals the bias of advocates……To Read More....
