An article entitled, "'Where ya from?' now an act of microaggression" appeared on the World Net Daily website noting "Other 'hostile' phrases include suggesting golf, Christmas vacation". And where is this insanity taking place? The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill! They've now released a whole "new list of “microaggressions” posted on the employee forum website which are deemed offensive, including one’s choice of compliments, sports and vacations."
Apparently the university thinks men dressing like men and women dressing like women causes people to be offended so they're recommending a "gender neutral" dress code....whatever that means....which I'm sure they'll define at some later date when someone comes up with an appropriate leftist politically correct philosophical flavor of the day....which may or may not last the day.
No more use of phrases “husband or boyfriend”, after all....someone may not be able to get a boyfriend, and ergo....never get married and this would be a constant reminder of their inadequacies ..... so no one else should be able to flaunt the idea they're acceptable to someone.
Then there's “implicit bias,” defined as “thoughts and feelings that occur independently of conscious intention, awareness, or control” microaggressions occur when these internal thoughts manifest during interpersonal interactions”,which is an open ended formula for unending grievance, which they're calling "indignities", including " complimenting a speaker on her footwear, which according to the PC litany really means "I notice how you look and dress more than I value your intellectual contributions. And why can't it just mean - I really like your shoes? Because then it wouldn't be an offense....and this is all about being offended about.....everything?
No more outrageous talk about where you vacation as this may be tied in with Christmas or Easter - religious events - oh horror of horrors - religion is fraught with everything that is outrageous to these leftist misfits. And of course....never suggest a round of golf. I'm not quite sure why that one is so "hateful", but does it really matter when there's so much insanity in all of this.
The article goes on to say:
UNC Chapel Hill is also home to a “cultural competency workshop” which teaches white people are privileged because they can buy Band-Aids “in ‘flesh’ color and have them more or less match” their skin tone. Microaggression has been a hot topic at a number of universities. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Inclusive Excellence Center launched a “Just Words” campaign last year to “raise awareness of microaggressions, their impact, [and] provide an insight into their meaning.”
Last November Mizzou students told to call cops for ‘hurtful’ words in the wake the university president’s resignation over charges he was racially insensitive to minority students. Additionally, in January The College Fix reported, “At Pennsylvania State University, no hurt feeling is too small, no slight too inconsequential, no unintentionally biased statement too unimportant. Administrators want to know it all.”
In the National Review, Katherine Timpf noted, “According to a new report released by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, just ‘walking into or sitting in’ a classroom full of white people is a microaggression in itself.”If this was the only university this was taking place it would still be an outrage, but this is going on in varying degrees in every university in the nation. At California State University Los Angeles they've had to "set up a “healing” space to deal with pain they were caused by having Ben Shapiro speak on campus — even though that speech was three months ago and most of them didn’t even go."
The author goes on to say: "I mean, really, kids? You’re suffering “immense hurt and trauma” and dealing with “emotional, mental, and physical effects” from a speech that happened sort of near you three months ago that you didn’t even attend? You need “healing” from that?" And this is what they're sending out to face the world as this nation's future leaders?
This is the insanity being promulgated in "higher education". A system that's surely meant to create nice little obedient, leftist minions who are incapable of dealing with life's unpleasantries so they have to turn to the authorities.....leftist authorities.
The left has finally done it. It took over 100 years, but they've accomplished their long range goal for pubic education. From the end of the 19th century the progressive goal for public education wasn't reading, writing and arithmatic, that was a side benefit. The real goal was to make sure the apple fell as far away from the tree as possible. No longer would the parents or the churches be the moral teachers and arbitrators of what was right an wrong for their children - it was to be the state! We're there! And it's a mess, because the left has no moral foundation from which to make those judgements leaving with the latest philosophical flavor of the day with nothing being truly right or truly wrong, unless it fits the latest leftist agenda, leading to they're overall long range goal - destruction of the American Constitution and America! And Americans are falling for it.
We've lost our minds! But I have a good solid fix! Eliminate all funding to colleges and universities. Eliminate student loans. Let all higher education be self funding. That will put a bunch out of business - a blessing if there ever was one, and the price of education will drop like a stone because the over inflated over paid staffs will be gone and end tenure. Professors will have to actually start teaching their classes instead of using teaching assistants. The best part - kids may come out actually knowing something. What a novel thought!
