Commentaries by Daniel Greenfield

Frexit: 61% of French Have Unfavorable View of EU, The Pew survey shows a split in EU favorability, but that doesn't tell the entire story. EU approval is still fairly high in parts of Eastern Europe where it's seen as a bulwark against Russia.  On the other hand its popularity is underwater in Spain, Greece and the UK (no surprise considering Brexit) and it hits disapproval highs in France of 61 percent. Frexit would be a terrible portmanteau but it is on the radar.....

Iron Dome Alliance Lobbies for End of Pro-Terrorist Pressure from D.C., I've written before about the paradox of the pro-Israel wing of the pro-Israel community.
The marshmallow center of the pro-Israel community is the best recruiting ground for the anti-Israel left because its worldview is hypocritical and incoherent. It lobbies for arms for Israel and yet insists that peace is inevitable. It concedes that both sides have good arguments, but that Israel’s argument is slightly better. Or perhaps slightly less worse. It evades the issues to talk up Israel’s tech sector or the gay bars in Tel Aviv. It believes in boosterism, but not in Israel’s right to finally end terrorism.
This is a situation in which much of what is officially deemed the pro-Israel lobby shoots down actual pro-Israel legislation while favoring some sort of imaginary peace with the terrorists. And they are distinct from the covertly overt anti-Israel wing like J Street.  So groups like these are a very welcome development........

Dem Platform Tilts Further Away from Israel,  The Sandernistas failed to get a condemnation of Israel for "occupying" the terrorists into the platform, but the new Dem platform does tilt further away from Israel as a compromise with a call for a "Palestinian" state.  As the anti-Israel J Street group put it, "The new language breaks with the party’s practice of framing its aim of establishing a Palestinian state solely in terms of Israel’s interests.  This is though what the Sandernistas, some of whom were overt supporters of terrorism against Jews tried to get in there....

Orlando Shooter's Father Supported Taliban, Mother-in-Law Backed Hamas, So much for the "radicalized by the internet" media narrative. Omar Mateen didn't need the internet. He had his parents and in-laws, who should never have been in this country......
