I read Townhall.com daily and there are times when I think it was a waste my time, but I respect so many of the writers I peruse it daily anyway. It's my opinion that Thomas Sowell is one of the finest thinkers in the country today. Why? First of all - he's smart, but most importantly he has the unique capababilty of making complex issues simple to understand. No small feat! So he will be first and last. Plus I'm posting a whole series from their site because I don't think I've seen so many profound and provocative articles at one time at Townhall.com. Please enjoy. RK
Thomas Sowell: Obama Versus America
In his recent trip to India, President Obama repeated a long-standing pattern of his -- denigrating the United States to foreign audiences. He said that he had been discriminated against because of his skin color in America, a country in which there is, even now, "terrible poverty."
Michelle Malkin: The GOP's Orrin Hatch Problem
Did the 2014 midterms really happen? Less than three months after a red tide rolled over the country, the Senate Republican Rollover Caucus is back to its default position in Washington, D.C.:
Hugh Hewitt: Memo To The GOP 2016 Field: Speak Out When The President Won't, Especially On ISIS And Iran
Jordan's swift reaction to the savage murder of its young fighter pilot --the rapid execution of two terrorists-- is just the first of our ally's responses if King Abdullah was correctly understood by members of the House Armed Services Committee.
John Stossel: Parasites
Politicians and lawyers pretend that they are important people doing important work. But often they're important because they are parasites. They feed off others, while creating no wealth of their own.
Walter E. Williams: Tragic School Stories
New York's schools are the most segregated in the nation, and the state needs remedies right away. That was Chancellor Merryl H. Tisch's message to New York's governor and Legislature. She said that minority children are disproportionately trapped in schools that lack teaching talent, course offerings and resources needed to prepare them for college and success.
Victor Davis Hanson: Appeasement As Narcissism
Members of the Obama administration have insisted that the Taliban are not terrorists. Those responsible for the recent Paris killings are not radical Islamists. The Muslim Brotherhood is largely secular. Jihad is a "legitimate tenet of Islam." And "violent extremism," "workplace violence" or "man-caused disaster" better describe radical Islamic terrorism. Domestic terrorism is just as likely caused by returning U.S. combat veterans, according to one report by a federal agency.
Brent Bozell: Obama, the Very Worst Deficit President
The press has barely noticed that President Obama has offered a new federal budget. Even in its paucity was a slant to be found.
Jonah Goldberg: The Vanilla Power of Republican Scott Walker
Vanilla is the most popular ice cream flavor in America, not because it is the best (that would be coffee) but because it is the least objectionable. Put another way, vanilla is the most acceptable to the most people; it's not many people's favorite, but nobody hates it.
Jeff Jacoby: Weapons, Not Blankets, Are What Ukraine Needs Now
Four months after Ukraines president traveled to Washington to plead for lethal military aid in its fight against Russian-sponsored violence and treachery, the US government is finally taking his entreaty seriously.
Bob Barr: The Holder Clone
Lynchs autobiographic presentation was eloquent; excellent and powerful as Republican Sen. Lindsay Graham gushed. Were her confirmation based solely on the caliber of her personal story, Obamas nominee would be a shoo-in.
Neil McCabe: NC Poll: 69 Percent of Tarheel GOP Voters Aged 18 to 49 Support 20-Week Abortion Ban
Less than two weeks after Rep. Renee Ellmers (R.-N.C.) sabotaged the expected passage of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, 69 percent of North Carolina Republicans aged 18 to 49 support the ban on abortions after 20-weeks asked directly without conditions or nuance in a Townhall/Gravis poll of 782 randomly selected registered GOP voters.
Terry Jeffrey: $6,099,996,642,000: Government Spent More Per Earner Than Median Earnings
The good news is that total net local, state and government spending dropped slightly from fiscal 2011 to fiscal 2012 (the latest year for which full state and local spending numbers are available from the Census Bureau).
Austin Bay: Cyborgs Versus Invading Green Men: Putin's Creeping Ukraine Invasion Continues
Late last week pro-Kremlin separatist militias -- aided and very likely led by "green men"-- defeated the last band of Ukrainian "Cyborgs" defending Donetsk's airport..
Jacob Sullum: How Uncle Sam Became a Bank Robber

Mike Shedlock: Gallup CEO Calls 5.6% Unemployment Rate "The Big Lie"
Because of all the distortions about what constitutes unemployment and employment, including frequent double-counting of part-time employment in the payroll survey, I believe it is purposely difficult to calculate a realistic unemployment rate.
Vann Ellison: Obama Ignores Welfare Reform
One would think with all the attention given to the issue of income inequality that welfare reform would be a national priority.
Michael Schaus: Columbine Survivor Pushes for Guns in Schools
Its nice to see that New New York (Colorado) still has a handful of anti-Bloombergs among them. A survivor from the Columbine school shooting of 1999 is now pushing for relaxed carry restrictions on public school property.
Nick Sorrentino: Why Do People Fear the Koch Brothers so Much?
So the Kochs are going to spend a billion (on think tanks, etc) in the next election. You know what? I dont care.
Peter Schiff: The Bravado of Borrowers
Last week a scene unfolded in Athens, largely unnoticed by American eyes, that provided all the visual and metaphorical symbols needed to define the current state of the global economy.
D.W. Wilber: Bankrupt Ideology?
Someone needs to tell Barack Obama that extremist ideologies arent bankrupt, extremist ideologies are very dangerous. Islamic terrorists follow an extremist ideology and they kill people in the most vicious and brutal ways. .

Monday morning's report on personal income and spending was something of a shocker. And while it didn't hurt equity futures at the time, it was a mixed bag, which speaks to the consumers state of mind.

Crude oil trading shifted bigtime last Friday as several factors came into the market almost simultaneously.
Thomas Sowell: Stormy Weather and Politics
It was refreshing to see meteorologists apologize for their dire -- and wrong -- predictions of an unprecedented snow storm that they had said would devastate the northeast. It was a big storm, but the northeast has seen lots of big snow storms before and will probably see lots of big snow storms again. That's called winter.
