Why Do We Tolerate Despotism?

By Rich Kozlovich

For years we've seen the federal government become what the Founding Fathers never wanted, the supreme authority in the land, and the ultimate moral authority. Not the churches, not the parents, the bureaucrats no one elected, who have actually undermined the fundamental values that created the most stable and successful society the world has ever known, by creating an administrative state that has plundered the nation's wealth through lies and fears.

Corruption of major proportions such as the covid and global warming scares. Who do these people think they are so as to believe they can treat Americans so abusively? They've stolen as much as they can and then fed back morsels for which so many are expected to be grateful, and as it turns out, there are many who are, and will riot to keep themselves in slavery to the state. More importantly, why do American's put up with it, and how did we allow this to happen?

The answer to this last question is really much easier than it appears. Gibbons wrote in his Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire that "we tolerate despotism because of the things we own", and since people will always be people, motivated by all the same wants, needs and desires all people have always been motivated by, we tolerate despotism for the same reason.

However, what happens if the economy collapses and nothing that's owned means anything

During the siege of Leningrad in WWII people were starving, and Leningrad was still the cultural center of Russia, and many owned valuable works of art. Works by Rembrandt were traded for bags of potatoes, and far worse things happened to keep from starving.

A stable economy is the binding glue for every society, and when that glue is destroyed there is no binding force, and people will do what is in their own best interests, individually or collectively in small groups. If we delusionally believe “that can’t happen here”, we need to start reading some history books and stop listening to these faux conservatives who are nothing short of self serving phonies.

There is one more thing.

Many years ago I was in a union working for a company that was abusive. I never liked being abused and had the tendency to say so. Naturally the company lackeys came after me with glee, since most of them were petty little tyrants, who enjoyed being petty little tyrants. I let them know while they were have a really good time at my expense they had no idea who they were dealing with, and the last time they made a Serbian mad he started WWI. They thought that was hilarious. The laughter didn't last, as things didn't turn out as gleefully as they desired.

The real shocker for me was the glee my fellow union members felt over these attacks against me. Why? Because as long as they were coming after me they were being left alone. But that never lasts, and when the company's petty tyrants came after them, guess who so many of them turned to? The one man who wasn't afraid of them, never backed down, and was winning. The one man who actually became influential with the other members. Rowing against the tide is painful and exhausting, but eventually the tide turns, and guess who's in the lead?

So when we see these leftist lunatics, and their catspaws in the media, start going after those who have the courage to row against the tide, we'll also see idiots on the right jumping on the bandwagon over some ill spoken views and allow the abusers of society to get away with their abuses by distracting everyone from the main issue, which is recognizing the need to dismantle the federal government..... massively.

We really do need to get that!
