Arizona Republican Senate candidate Kari Lake told Sirius XM’s Breitbart News Saturday that the “bribe” to stay out of politics she rejected from “powerful people back East” served as a prime example of why she must run for Senate. Lake, a former Fox 10 Phoenix anchor who is the leading republican Senate candidate in Arizona, joined host and Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle for a 20-minute segment on Saturday’s program. Boyle asked Lake to break down the bombshell recording from before she declared her candidacy, in which former Arizona GOP Chair Jeff DeWit seemed to imply a bribe offer from “powerful people” somewhere “back East.” DeWitt noted the people who wanted to “keep her out” were “willing to put their money where their mouth is in a big way.”......To Read More...
My Take - She's been criticized over the timing of this and how some find her claim she didn't really listen to the recording properly before this, and truthfully, I find that a bit silly also, but so what? The question isn't whether or not the timing was appropriate. The only question that needs asked and answered is whether or not it was true. It was. Finis!
Here's more on Kari Lake, with My Take:
First, we have these slanted stories about the Arizona Republicans booing Kari Lake:
Arizona Republicans Relentlessly Boo Kari Lake On Home Turf Following Scandal -The Arizona GOP crowd gave Lake a piece of their mind after audio showed the state's Republican party chair appearing to push her to stay out of politics. Arizona Republicans let Kari Lake have it this weekend as they hurled boos and jeers her way at a state GOP meeting following a scandal involving her and the now-former head of the state’s party. The brutal reaction arrived following the resignation of Arizona GOP chairman Jeff DeWit after leaked audio appeared to show him pressing Lake, a Trump-endorsed election denier running for a U.S. Senate seat, to stay out of office.....
Well, I wondered about that, but Andrea Widburg once again dug into that slanted reporting in her article:
Some boos notwithstanding, don’t write off Kari Lake yet - By Andrea Widurg January 30, 2024 -Around 36 hours ago, a shocking video emerged: Arizonans were booing Kari Lake, the hottest political star, not just in Arizona but in America (other than Donald Trump, of course). However, there’s a strong possibility that the video may have been a matter of the videographer’s proximity rather than a large-scale opposition to the Arizona political star. The big news was that, on Saturday, when Kari Lake made her appearance at the state’s GOP gathering, she was greeted with boos. The excitement from political observers about this bit of news was palpable, especially from the left side of the aisle:.........I mention all of this because I heard from someone who was, as he said, “present, with voting privileges, Saturday when Kari Lake took the stage.” According to my correspondent:
In the Maricopa County contingent, I was seated very near the middle of the venue. The roar of approval was so loud that it sounded enthusiastic and comprehensive. We may have given her standing applause, but my memory is hazy since we did for several people who took the stage, but I think she was one.
I've said in the past she's formidable, and I wondered if these "booers" were representative of the McCainite leadership cabal, or was it the Republican base? This article answers that, which I suspected.
No matter what's said, Kari Lake remains formidable! She's impressive, she's smart, gutsy, honest, she challenges the leftist media and beats them with directness, and she's what people are looking for. Meghan McCain's laughter at any booing is a symptom of the sickness that permeates Republican leadership nationwide, and what normal people are sick and tired of.
Olivia Murray is a writer for American Thinker, and I think an excellent analyst. She posted this commentary: AZGOP’s new chair took $15k per month from the taxpayers to ‘consult’ the state senate on securing elections, only to produce nothing, noting:
I hate to be the reliable cynic or the bearer of bad news, but… the Arizona GOP is still firmly under the control of the same Uniparty politics that controlled DeWit… so prepare yourself for more of the same from the Grand Canyon state come election time. This is only the tip of the iceberg with Swoboda, but see the post to X below from someone with a strong opinion about what happened...
Kari Lake was being booed for releasing a recording of the head of the Arizona GOP chairman Jeff DeWit attempting to bribe her to drop out of the Senate race, saying there were those from "out East" who didn't want her in Washington and they were willing to be generous, and he resigned, and she was criticized because she took so long to release it. Okay...so what? Did he attempt to bribe her? Yes, he did! Since it's true, does it matter when it was released? So, now a new Chairman has been appointed, one she opposed, and when reading her history, she's going to be as big a problem as was DeWit, but Trump jumped in and endorsed her. He should have followed her lead. But noooooo.....he butted in, and she played the good soldier, saluted and said "yes sir".
I really wonder at his endorsements.... a lot...and I'm convinced Trump is in dire need of a jury analyst as his personnel consultant. Let the politicos make their recommendations, and then turn those names over to the jury analyst, and I'm betting most of them would be shown the door in short order.
