At a time when some colleges are implementing their first diversity requirement for graduation, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is doubling its existing requirement.  At a public meeting last week, the Academic Senate voted to require students entering the university in 2018 to take one class each in “non-Western culture” and “U.S. minority culture.” Currently students must take one course that satisfies either of those categories.  The estimated size of 2018’s freshman class is 7,400 students, according to the proposal by the university’s Committee on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) that passed the senate.......To Read More.....

University offers counseling after pro-Black Lives Matter whiteboard message defaced -  After a “positive” Black Lives Matter message on a whiteboard inside a University of Iowa residence hall was defaced, administrators not only launched a police investigation, but also offered counseling to those distressed by the incident.......

Claremont race activists targeted ‘Shady People of Color’ for not supporting radical agenda -
Racial protesters at Claremont McKenna College created an enemies list of administrators and students who are racial minorities but disagreed with the protesters’ goals or otherwise earned their spite, the Claremont Independent reported Thursday.   First hinted at in a Facebook page mocking the “gross boys” of CMC – including both male and female staffers of the right-leaning Independent – the “shady person of color” (SPOC) list was made public Wednesday by Hannah Oh, the former Independent editor-in-chief.......

Black students expelled for hate-crime hoax after police cite ‘no evidence’ for their story -   If you’re going to create a hate crime out of thin air, don’t do it in a space full of surveillance video.  The black female students who were indicted for assaulting white people on a bus but claiming they were the victims of a racist mob have been severely punished by the State University of New York at Albany – two expelled, the third suspended for two years, the Times Union reports.  President Robert Jones made the announcement about Ariel Agudio, Asha Burwell and Alexis Briggs in an email to the university community Thursday in order to affirm its “commitment to accountability,” according to the paper.......
