The Fall of Chicago

By Thomas Lifson

What our Marxist friends call “internal contradictions” are bringing down Chicago, as they have already bankrupted Detroit. Writing at Powerline, Paul Mirengoff explores “The Larger Meaning of Rahm Emanuel’s Woes.” Chicago, run by Rahm Emanuel a White House majordomo for and intimate friend of both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, is about to fall off a cliff, and national Democrats won't be able to evade the bankruptcy of their policies..........There are some exceptions (San Francisco being the most prominent, with Oakland close behind – where the tech boom has led to in-migration of affluent techies), but most large Democrat-run cities are following this path to disaster, with a shrinking base of taxpayers supporting a growing population of dependents, as municipal employees consume ever greater portions of tax revenue for their retirements and health care benefits. The money runs out, services decline, and the dependents get angry and unruly. Even more taxpayers flee, until the bills cannot be paid. ...... More

My Take - When Obama was elected I told my friends - who think of me as the conservative's conservative - this may be the best thing that's happened to the nation in years.  One of them asked - I think jokingly - for someone to smack me.  I said - think about this.  Until the nation can really see what monsters these people are they will never stop voting for them because the left dominates the media and the right (At least the so-called right leadership in the Republican party - there's a reason they call the Republican party the "dumb party") doesn't have the crust to attack the left as they should be for their unending list of failures - all promoted by emotional demagoguery, and lauded by the national media.

However - eventually reality reaches it's zenith - and now we're broke and going broker everyday.  At the federal level they can print money that has no value - which is what they're doing.  At the state and local level.....they can only borrow money or tax the people in their state for it.  At some point both of those systems fail because at some point Maggie Thatcher's first rule of what's wrong with socialism will take effect.  "Eventually you run out of other people's money!"  These bankrupt Democratic strongholds will be the first to go down the drain.  The Republican strongholds that have failed to address the problem -  as outlined in the six points in the article - will be second, and Ohio, with Governor Kasich's rule is close to the top of the list.

These bankrupt cities are the legacy of leftism, and Obama, his minions, and Democrat politicians are finally exposing just how incompetent the Democrats are.   Let's get past the emotion and start using our heads.  I do keep wondering what's worse.  The dumb party or the incompetent party.  Sometimes it's hard to tell since they share so many views of reality such as big government, big taxes and big regulations.  Just how big is the question.  However bankruptcy will supply the answer.
