Dr. Douglas Powell saw the Chipotle E. coli outbreak coming eight years ago. In 2007, Powell, a former Kansas State University food safety professor who now publishes the popular and appetizingly-named Barfblog, was turned off by the growing chain’s emphasis on “naturally-raised meats” and “organic” ingredients. “I’m never eating there again,” he declared in a Barfblog post......“Kudos to Chipotle for capitalizing on hucksterism,” he explained at the time, citing what he perceived as the chain’s overuse of buzzwords.“But given the ubiquitous outbreaks of E. coli and Salmonella on spinach, lettuce, and tomatoes, I choose to purchase food from those who value and promote microbiologically safe food.”...To Read More....
My Take - One has to feel sympathy for those victims.....and yes they are victims! Victims of a foolish, misinformed and even corrupt media that allows these "all natural" lunatics to get away with their claims of better nutrition and better health for they and their families. But these health issues are a direct result of their fallacious thinking. The same is true of those promoting unpasteurized milk. If a mere fraction of the number of illnesses cause by unpasteurized milk and "all natural" produce were sickened by one pesticide - they would have amassed demonstrations all over the country demanding the elimination of all pesticides.
These people must be insane. We know the facts - they know the facts - but since environmentalism, in all its manifestations, is in point of fact a secular religion - the facts don't matter, and it's not faith either. It's mysticism. As for Chipotle - I don't have one bit of sympathy for them at all. I hope this is such a financial burden for their company they're forced to abandon all this green clabber for publicity sake and merely serve healthy food. And I hope this is a lesson for all other restaurants, chains or otherwise.
