(CNSNews.com) - A Libyan newspaper reports that the country's Grand Mufti has issued a fatwa against a U.N. report on violence against women, urging Muslim women around the world to protest that report. The report from the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women says governments must do more to protect women and girls from violence as well as uphold women's rights and fight discrimination. It says nations must not allow religious considerations to avoid their obligations. In a statement quoted by the Libya Herald, the Grand Mufti said he "strongly condemns" the report on women, calling it "unjust and destructive." To Read More.....
