This Week in Open Borders America: Green Cards for Illegal Migrants?

Editor’s note: Join Liberty Nation each week to stay up to date on the nationwide ramifications of an open borders America.

Giving Green Cards to Illegal Migrants

“I’ve done all I can do,” President Joe Biden said during a press meeting on January 30 regarding gaining control of the border crisis. “Just give me the power. I’ve asked from the very day I got into office.” However, as most Americans realize, the commander-in-chief did just the opposite. Instead, he trashed most of the new immigration polices put into place during former President Donald Trump’s administration, and, as a result, the number of illegal migrants swarming the border continues to rise. Millions of the undocumented have already entered the country illegally, so what’s the country to do?

Let’s give them green cards.

This is not set in stone, but the administration is considering handing out green cards to about 10,000 migrants who have been in the country – illegally of course – for at least a decade. They must also not have been convicted of a serious crime, have “good moral character,” and need to prove that they “would suffer exceptional and extremely unusual hardship” should they be deported, according to the proposal.

Earlier this year, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas confessed that more than 80% of illegal aliens who enter the US are subsequently released into the country – and that’s not counting the 1.8 million known “gotaways.”

2,000 More Headed to Texas

A group of at least 2,000 illegal migrants are headed toward El Paso, Texas, and are expected to arrive within the next few days. The “Migrant’s Via Crusis,” or Migrants Way of The Cross, caravan was organized by Mexican activists to help ensure safety in a group. They left the city of Tapachula, which is located on the border of Guatemala, on Monday (March 25), according to a border report.

In online videos, a swarm of people are seen walking through the streets of Mexico. One clip shows a leader speaking through a bullhorn, chanting, “A la frontera”, which translates to “To the border.” The group shouted out in Spanish, “We are not criminals, we are international workers.”

“Migrants have no other option but to walk as part of a group or hitch a ride in a trailer that could be their death,” Luis Villagran, an organizer with the Center for Human Dignity in Tapachula, Mexico, told Telemundo.

Church-run shelters are trying to prepare for the onslaught of humanity but are already running out of space. El Paso Catholic Diocese Bishop Mark J. Seitz told Border Report on Monday: “We continue to marshal all available resources and be aware of the trends. El Paso has shown itself to be very able to gear up when the surge comes and provide a safe and orderly way for those who have been permitted to come in to find a secure situation and continue on their path.”

According to Border Report, there is another group of several hundred migrants set up behind a convenience store in Chihuahua City, about 230 miles from El Paso.

Migrants Hiding at School Sparked Fear

The wave of illegal aliens swarming the Texas border has started to trickle into schools, at least in the instance of Santa Teresa Middle School in New Mexico where a group of migrants went on campus, prompting it to go into “secure mode,” Newsweek reported. The school stayed on that mode for 20 minutes until six migrants were arrested by federal Border Patrol on March 20. There were two such incidents within the week.

Gadsden Independent School District Superintendent Travis Dempsey said: “It is concerning and it does at some level interrupt our educational process when we do things of this nature,” however, Guillermo Carmona, communications director for the district told Newsweek via email that they declined to comment on the incidents.

Officials explained that a group of undocumented migrants entered the southern section of the campus, which led to the “secure” status “with a directive to get inside and lock outside doors,” the outlet reported.

The school’s principal, Danielle Rodriguez, utilized the “rave panic button” which is part of the K-12 safety app used to report suspicious activity.

“It is common for Border Patrol Agents to receive calls from the community in the Sunland Park, New Mexico area, especially those impacted by migrants who often conceal themselves inside of properties,” according to Border Patrol. “This is due to the proximity of the border and as such, many migrants attempt to evade arrest from the U.S. Border Patrol.”

Parents expressed their concern. Maria Gallegos told KFOX: “We’re a little nervous because with the fear and nerves migrants have of being caught by immigration officials, we don’t know if they’d do something to our students.”

Mexican President Talks Francis Scott Key Bridge Collision

Mexico President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said the collapse of the bridge shows that “migrants go out and do risky jobs at midnight” and that they “do not deserve to be treated as they are by certain insensitive, irresponsible politicians in the United States.” He made the remark after two of the victims identified were revealed as non-citizens.

Even though Lopez Obrador and Biden are reportedly working together to help secure the border, the Mexican president has been outspoken against some Republicans for supporting stricter immigration policies. Last week, Mexico said that under no circumstances would it accept any migrants being deported from Texas after the Lone Star State initiated Senate Bill 4, which allows state officials to arrest and deport illegal immigrants.
