The Biden and Trump presidential campaigns are receiving donations from different sources. Fox Business recently analyzed FEC records and it shows which candidate best represents the working– and middle classes. In “Yes, Biden’s Campaign Overflows With Cash, But Trump is Getting the ‘Good’ Money,” Andrea Widburg at American Thinker writes:
The analysis shows that there’s a big difference in the source of Biden’s 2024 campaign money compared to his 2020 haul. In 2020, he received 49% of his money from small donors (defined as people contributing less than $2,000) and 25% from big donors (that is, people contributing more than $2,000). This year, only 38% of his money comes from small donors, while 35% of his money comes from big donors.
Meanwhile, Trump has significantly increased the contributions he gets from small donors. In 2020, 52% of the money for his campaign came from small donors, while 19% came from big donors. By 2024, that ratio shifted: 61% of Trump’s donations come from small donors, while big donors dropped to only 9%.
On the REPUBLICAN side, currently, the state’s electoral college votes are split between statewide winners and winners of congressional districts. There was a proposal to make it a winner-take-all allocation system, which is how it is allocated in 48 other states. Only Nebraska and Maine are proportional. Governor Jim Pillen supports changing to a winner-take-all system. However, some Republicans in the Republican majority legislature disagreed and now the opportunity is lost before the November election. Do you think that Democrats would have split on anything that would have helped their party? Of course not!
On the INDEPENDENT side, on April 1, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. was a guest on CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront and said:
"I can make the argument that President Biden is the much worse threat to democracy, and the reason for that is President Biden is the first candidate in history — the first president in history that has used the federal agencies to censor political speech, so to censor his opponent."
Also on the INDEPENDENT side, former Hawaii Representative Tulsi Gubbard said last week that she declined to be Kennedy’s running mate. Again, good news for those who want Trump re-elected. Kennedy has said that he does not believe he is peeling votes from Biden. He believes his voters are those who would not vote if it’s a binary choice of Trump vs Biden.
On the DEMOCRAT side, strategist James Carville is very concerned about his party’s diminishing support among young voters. This doesn’t mean they will vote for Trump, but it could mean they vote for RFK or sit home. He said on his March 31 Carville’s Classroom podcast: “I’ve been very vocal about this. It’s horrifying, our numbers among younger voters, particularly younger blacks, younger Latinos … younger people of color. Particularly males.”
