From the Washington Examiner

Editor's Note: Ever since Watergate we've been stuck with the word "gate" welded onto some issue or other. I think it's kind of silly so I thought I would highlight that by "gateing" every issue posted here. I think the last "gate" is most appropriate in spite of the fact I only have one link in that category.

Eco-gate

States fling criticism at EPA's power plant rules - State utility and environmental regulators expressed both criticism and some praise for EPA rules.

Econo-gate

Two banks fail stress tests - The U.S. arms of Spanish bank Santander and Frankfurt-headquartered Deutsche Bank failed the stress tests, the Federal Reserve announced Wednesday afternoon. As a result, regulators will not allow them to pay out dividends or other capital distributions to shareholders.

If the Export-Import Bank pretends to be a small-business agency, does it become one? - This "rebranding" by Ex-Im is properly called "deception."

'What would be most palatable to Boeing': Export-Import Bank's cozy relationship with its biggest customer - When the Export-Import finances a U.S. export, it creates winners and losers. Guess which one Boeing is.

Labor seeks to make pro-trade Dems a liability for party - AFL-CIO wants to pressure Democrats to oppose Obama's free-trade agenda.

Obama budget would reduce deficits by $1.2 trillion: Budget office - Its assessment of Obama's plans for taxing and spending mostly followed the White House's own projections. Over 10 years, annual deficits would total $5.98 trillion under Obama's policies, the budget office projects, just $300 billion more than the White House's own projections.

Consumer confidence slips in March – The Index of Consumer Sentiment fell from 95.4 percent in February to 91.2 in March. It now appears that soaring consumer sentiment in the first months of the year was exaggerated, but the overall trend is still for Americans to feel better about the economy.

Business faults tax code for rising foreign takeovers of U.S. companies - The argument is meant to build momentum for tax reform.

Ethics-A-Gate

Democrats' racial, ethical headaches fueled by fondness for fundraising prowess - Hillary Clinton, Harry Reid and Chris Van Hollen all have an edge through fundraising.

A lesson in Ferguson: Big government is not a victimless crime - It's part of a national trend of aggressively using police powers for raising money, not preserving order.

Hillary-gate

GOP: Massive search ahead for documents withheld by Hillary Clinton - House Oversight lawmakers are re-sending their requests to State in light of Clinton's email revelations.

Hillary Clinton defends private email use - Hillary Clinton Tuesday defended her use of a personal email server and domain as secretary of state, trying to limit the damage caused by the first true crisis of her soon-to-be announced presidential campaign….

Clinton's unsatisfactory explanations - Tuesday's press conference revealed important inconsistencies in Hillary Clinton's story.

A contradiction at the heart of Hillary's email scandal - Clinton's defense depends on her subordinates following proper protocol by using their work email accounts.

Convenience? Two weeks ago Clinton said she had both iPhone and Blackberry - "I'm like two steps short of a hoarder. So I have an iPad, a mini iPad, an iPhone and a Blackberry"

Hillary talks but questions grow - "Secretary Clinton alone created this predicament, but she alone does not get to determine its outcome."

AP sues State Department for Hillary emails - The Associated Press on Wednesday morning filed a lawsuit against the State Department under the Freedom of Information Act in an attempt to access the thousands of emails Clinton sent and received using a "homebrew" server she had set up in her home.

White House's aloof approach only fans Clinton email firestorm - The attempt to brush the issue aside in the daily press briefing only fueled an avalanche of questions.

The Obama administration doesn't trust Hillary - Listen to the administration, and you'll hear bureaucrats carefully keeping their distance from Clinton. (Imagine that!)

Hillary's email scandal is about privilege - Clinton's sense of privilege is a broader problem for her presidential ambitions than the email scandal.

Iran-A-Gate

Dem doubletalk on patriotic dissent - Some Democrats in Congress, and very liberal writers, are more outraged than usual over the GOP open letter.

5 times Democrats undermined Republican presidents with foreign governments - Democrats have on many occasions reached out to foreign leaders to undermine a sitting Republican president.

New test for GOP primary voters: Canceling Obama's Iran deal - Graham, like most other expected GOP candidates, has vowed to end any Iran deal not approved by Congress.

EXCLUSIVE: Tom Cotton defends GOP's open letter to Iran - In an interview with the Washington Examiner, the Arkansas Republican suggested that he chose the route of penning a letter to Iran's leaders because he and most in his party concluded that it was the best way to get Obama's attention.

Obama stiff-arms his legacy by dismissing Congress on Iran - Lawmakers are guarding what they see as their right as members of an equal branch of government.

House warns Obama on Iran deal - House lawmakers have written their own letter insisting that Congress have a say in any nuclear deal with Iran, with some 250 members signing on as of Friday afternoon - a clear majority of the chamber.

Medi-Gate

Administration puts botched Obamacare tax forms on backburner - "We are tracking to get those corrected forms out on time," said Kevin Counihan, CEO of healthcare.gov, on a Friday call with reporters. "Being a couple of days away, our real focus right now is to build awareness of the special enrollment period" for Obamacare.

Cloud hangs over Obama visit to Phoenix veterans hospital - Critics say the Obama administration isn't moving quickly enough to address the VA's culture of corruption.

Murky path to permanent Medicare 'doc fix' - If no action is taken by the end of this month, doctor reimbursements will be cut by 21 percent.

Stupid Bureaucrats-A-Gate

Booze-fueled car accident puts pressure on Obama - The Secret Service director faces a barrage of criticism and calls for action.
