The Idaho Department of Fish and Game says staff and volunteers collected the dead birds over the past several days at wildlife management areas near the towns of Terreton and Roberts. When a Key Word Matters - One would think that a federal wildlife agency like US Fish and Wildlife Service (they have supreme authority over all migratory birds including snow geese) or a state wildlife agency which like USFWS has “veterinarians”, “biologists” and all manner of cooperating professors at their beck and call would know and report accurately and in a timely fashion the cause of 2,000 snow geese dropping from the skies. Why, we should ask, is it only “likely” that avian cholera is responsible for this avian rain?
The reason this is important is either a) the word “likely” is a weasel word to cover tushes, i.e. heines, if it is Avian Flu (see the article below that I wrote 10 years ago on this subject) or b) all these high-powered “experts” don’t even know and they are only maintaining their “image” by babbling before their brains are engaged. Only time will confirm which it is. Jim Beers, 25 March 2015
