Observations From the Back Row: 8-15-11

“De Omnibus Dubitandum”
Everthing we are told should bear some resemblance to what we see going on in reality!

What does a political regime do when its philosophy doesn’t work and is leading to ruin? It can’t scrap the philosophy, which is its raison d'etre and the basis of its power. Were it to chuck the philosophy, its core constituencies would abandon it. So instead it blames those who have most cogently pointed out the defects of the philosophy. It calls them liars and haters. - Michael Knox Beran

To Greenies, Genghis Khan was a good guy
Believe it or not. They love that he killed so many people. His big accomplishment? He killed 40 million people so their lands could be reforested.....[To the Greens] the problem with the bubonic plague was that is just didn't stick around long enough.

Green Squeeze Impoverished Out of Jobs
It may sound absurd, but several environmental NGOs – notably Greenpeace, Rainforest Action, and WWF – are now involved in a concerted attempt to stymie investment in the developing world. At the root of the insidious campaign is a fundamental opposition to capitalism, rather than concern for indigenous communities, or the balance that can be achieved between development and conservation. Western environmental activists have long placed their narrow and unscientific agenda ahead of the basic human right of allowing indigenous people to live off the land to feed their families and raise the quality of life for them, their families, their communities, not only to eat today, but to build a better life for tomorrow.

Killing Jobs, Cost Won't Stop Obama EPA
Air quality has improved dramatically in America since 1980. According to the EPA nitrogen dioxide emissions are down 40%, sulfur dioxide dropped by 56%, and lead emissions by a whopping 96%. And, these improvements happened while the population grew by 22% and energy consumption jumped 19%...... Environmental activists like the current EPA Administrator, Lisa Jackson, always claim improved air quality will translate to significant health benefits, but Burnett and Meier found those claims to be dramatically overstated. That's because very little of the targeted pollutants actually come from the air we breathe.

Mark Baisley: Yeah, When Monkeys Fly Out of Your Tailpipe
The greenies’ dream of forcing the American culture into an undernourished energy consumer is alchemy pure and simple. But reality eventually wins every contest and even a Soros-funded campaign cannot turn environmentalist idealism into gold.

Capital Flight From Green Investments – “Innovation In The Energy Sector Could Slip Into A Major Crisis”
With another financial crisis flaring up, the green energy sector this time is taking a hit. This is being reported today in the German language Technology Review here.  No wonder Al Gore blew a fuse a few days back. With this news and the Chicago Climate Exchange shutting down, the poor bloke is probably taking a real hit. Might want to have a skyscraper watch…….No wonder Al Gore blew a fuse a few days back. With this news and the Chicago Climate Exchange shutting down, the poor bloke is probably taking a real hit.

My Take – You know those people who go around irritatingly telling everyone, “I told you so!” Well…..I’m one of them.

“I told you so!”

Without government tax breaks, incentives or taxpayer funded grants solar and wind energy can’t complete. That doesn’t even begin to cover the overall environmentally disastrous issues that are encompassing this whole "green" solution to a non problem.   Greenies are only good at finding fault.  They are clueless when it comes to finding solutions.  The fact that most of the leadership have never done anything except be activists all of their lives may have something to do with that.

It isn’t like there was no history on this. We went through this with the second dumbest president, Jimmy Carter. This should have been obvious to the most casual observer, yet the geniuses in decision making positions didn’t get it; believe they knew better; or were lying. I would opt for all three actually. My question is this. Why should we think they know anything about anything, or will tell anyone the truth if they do?

Australia: Household power switched off remotely

TVs, air conditioners and fridges could be switched off remotely by power companies during peak times under plans to rein in households' demand for electricity. The option is among measures being considered as part of a national review of the management of domestic power use.
Anything is better than building new power stations. Building a new power station was once seen as a great advance and a public service. Now it is seen as something to avoid by any means possible. In an age of unprecedented abundance we are told we must cut back on everything. At least this is proposed as a voluntary scheme. In California they want to do it compulsorily. But I can't see it having much take-up. Who is it going to appeal to if your power gets cut off when you most need it? Insane! - John J. Ray
National Resources are no longer national – All natural resources should belong to the entire world and be administered by the U.N.
In June this year, the German government issued the Press Release shown below, relating to the UN Convention on Biodiversity, which is another product of Maurice Strong’s UNEP/Agenda 21 from the 1992 Earth Summit. The Press Release relates to a UN Conference on Bio-Diversity, in Nagoya, Japan in October 2010, which was widely reported in the media, but with minimal detail and little public interest, because all the talk was of the forthcoming UNFCCC COP16 event in Cancun, Mexico……..

Energy-saving light bulbs leap in price
The cost of energy saving light bulbs is rising sharply ahead of the European Union ban on the traditional 60-watt bulbs…… And with just weeks to go before the September 1 switch date, consumers have suffered another blow: the cost of CFLs is soaring.
Manufacturers have blamed recent price rises on the growing cost of raw materials required to make the bulbs, and say there are further increases to come.

My Take - I’m shocked….shocked I tell you. Well, actually ....not really.  This is something that also should have been obvious to the most casual observer. G.E. and other large industries that were supporting this claptrap didn't do so because they became infused with some sort of idiot greenie environmental justice philosophy. I mean, do we really believe that G.E. wants everyone to go back to nature

Stuff you will never see on the news

-Videos of the Day –

"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes, and ships, and sealing wax -
Of cabbages and kings,
And why the sea is boiling hot,
And whether pigs have wings."
