Barack Obama took part in the Memorial Day observance at Arlington National Monday, continuing the tradition among US presidents to honor America’s fallen. The President spoke a few words about active duty service members in Afghanistan and then laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Sequester Cut.
Before she began working with the IRS and targeting conservative and religious groups, Lois Lerner headed up the Enforcement Office at the Federal Election Commission (that’s reassuring). Apparently, in the late 1990′s under her direction, the FEC hammered the Christian Coalition with a tedious and pricey investigation alleging they were coordinating issue advocacy expenditures with candidates for office. The Coalition prevailed, primarily because Lerner had little evidence and even less authority to even bring the charges, but she pursued them doggedly and some say with a good amount of vitriol.
