The two dozen vaccines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for kids before age 2 do not cause any significant increase in the risk of health problems, a government-advisory body stated yesterday. A committee of the Institute of Medicine — a nonprofit that advises the government on health and science issues — examined research on traditional and alternative schedules and found no evidence of health problems for kids on the recommended vaccine schedule. The panel, which is made up of 14 physicians and academics, also stated that there isn’t any credible research that explores whether it is acceptable to deviate from the recommended schedule………Also, for all of our readers interested in ACSH’s petition calling upon New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation to mandate the influenza vaccination for all health care workers, here’s an update. ACSH staffers this morning spoke with two members of the executive board of NYC HHC and we were gratified to learn that they are on the same page as us, agreeing that the flu vaccine should be mandated for all health care workers. Stay tuned as we will keep you updated on further communication and action pertaining to this issue. To Read More…..
My Take – I am a big believer in childhood vaccinations because we know they work. We know they provide longer, healthier lives for our children. Childhood vaccinations are one reason the childhood mortality dropped so radically in the 20th century. Those who resist it simply don’t understand what the world was like before vaccinations and fall prey to these idiot junk scientists, Hollywood dummies, and insane activists who have convinced many in society that these life saving immunizations cause autism, which has been shown to be false over and over again.
However, I have serious misgivings about mandating flu vaccinations for anyone, especially since there is no way anyone can tell for sure which flu virus is going to strike, potentially leaving everyone without any immunization at all. The argument that if they all keep getting vaccinations every year they will have resistance to the viruses as they come around, unless it is of course a new variation, and in that case no one has a vaccine available. I do have serous mixed feelings on this as I view this as a rights issue also, although I hate to tout that too strongly. I wish I had more confidence in this whole mandate thing. If the state can mandate hospital employees to have flu shots, why can’t the state mandate all government employees to have flu shots? Is there a limit then?
