Huelskamp on Budget Cuts: Planned Parenthood Is A ‘Good Place to Start’

Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) introduced HR 61 which would prevent the Department of Health and Human Services from providing federal funds to “abortion businesses” such as Planned Parenthood, unless the organization proves it no longer performs or refers for abortions.  Rep. Diane Black (R-Tenn.) re-introduced on Jan. 4 HR 217, entitled the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act, initially introduced by former Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.)  If enacted, HR 217—which currently has 48 co-sponsors in the House-- would prohibit family planning grants from going to abortion providers.
CNSNews.com reported earlier this month that Planned Parenthood performed 333,964 abortions during fiscal year 2011, which works out to an average of one abortion every 94 seconds.  To Read More…..
